Skyliner Motel — Hotel in Stroud

The Skyliner has the original look and feel of a Route 66 motel on West Main Street in Stroud (old 66) about five blocks from an interchange on Interstate 44. While it is not in a league with Hampton and Holiday Inn Express establishments, it is a solid example of mom-pop type of motel that deserves support.||||Because of the age of the structure, the door to my room was not quite wide enough for my recumbent trike to roll in. The owner walked over from the office to help me lift and rotate the rig to get it in the room. With both of us Medicare eligible age-wise, the extra hands did make the work easier. I was grateful and impressed. ||||Good food was about five blocks away toward the Interchange. Not too far to walk for walkers and quick for those that prefer to drive.||||A good experience at a location that is both part of automotive and traveling history and currently blessed by a welcoming, helpful owner. Skyliner Motel is truly a classic Route 66 Motel. The size of the room was smaller than usual motel today, but it was truly classic. Had a "full" size bed which was no problem for us since that is what we were used to. The bathroom was appropriate size for the room. There was no tub but a nice size shower area. The facility was very clean and the owner was exceptionally nice and courteous to us. There was a refrigerator and I believe a microwave. No ice maker in facility..you get your ice in office when you check in. No coffee maker in room, but available in office. You are able to park in front of your door. Property was clean and well maintained. It was a very enjoyable stay for us on the Historic Route 66!!! Would not hesitate to stay here again! First room we got had poop and pee on bathroom wall, when we told employee we were told we were given a room that hasn't been cleaned yet. Then the next room was pretty nasty itself. I didn't notice because I didn't use the bathroom until 12 and the was no soap. Place isn't clean and out of the 3 motels I have stayed in this week it was the smallest and yet most expensive. Find a different motel. Food was left in refrigerator and everything, it was really hard to show just how unclean this place was because it litterly didn't look like cleaning was even attempted on most things.
