The hotel appeared to be a newer construction located by the town of Suisun City. This Holiday Inn is equal distant 30 minutes from Napa and Davis. By day it felt like an ideal location. By night it was sketchy. More on this later.
The check in employee was nice but another employee was unprofessional joking around with him during my check in process. Focus people. I was not acknowledged for my Gold status.
The room was more spacious than traditional IHG rooms. The carpet was stained in several areas. The wall thermostat was inoperable with an “ERR” message on display. The alarm clock was unplugged. When plugged in it was not programmable. The bathroom mirror back lighting didn’t work. The refrigerator never got down to a cold enough temperature to safely keep food. The 4th floor ice machine was unplugged. The 3rd floor ice machine was out of ice. The 2nd floor was missing the tray to place the ice bucket on. In all the hallways on each floor there was litter of some sorts that was never vacuumed over my three night stay.
The breakfast area was nicely stocked. The milk was served in a pitcher rather than individual cartons. There is not an option of whole, 1% or non fat milk. The bananas were overripe.
The positives are that the bed was comfortable and the black out blinds worked well.
My room had a partial delta view and a full view next door and of the lot next door with a motorhome used as permanent residence.
Downtown Suisun City is next door scattered with several restaurants, bars and lounges. While walking during the day it felt safe. A mixture of new and vintage buildings made up this harbor town. I could only imagine how nice this town would have been like to live in before the advent of big box and online shopping. Everywhere I walked there was a faint aroma of urine. Like many places the unhoused population is strong here. In front of the hotel I saw several scruffy people loitering on bicycles and cruising the parking lot looking in cars. I felt unsafe. I had hoped to walk to the restaurants at night but decided against it.
If Holiday Inn Suisun City were to keep up on the deferred maintenance and cleaning before little things becomes bigger things this would be a great location. I’m not sure how to advise on offering a more secure parking lot but the police department is down the block. Perhaps having a drive by through the parking lot while they are coming and going can thwart drifters.
I’m not sure if I would stay here again. Perhaps if I was by myself but I wouldn’t bring my family here.
Thank you for the opportunity to stay at the Holiday Inn...
Read moreIf I could give a place negative stars, it would be this hotel. I travel a lot and have truly never had a worse experience. Upon arrival we were told that the room key generator was not working due to technical difficulties, and we were like “fine that’s out of your control.” But as the night went on things got worse. We specifically picked this hotel because it had a nice pool, and surprise the pool was closed. Another thing that we were like “okay out of your control.” When we got to our rooms they appeared really nice and clean but when I went to take a shower there were many hairs in the shower that were not ours. I discovered the same thing when I went to get into bed and found a small red pube like hair on one of the pillows, definitely not mine. I tried to call downstairs to have a new pillow brought up and an extra blanket because it was very cold, and the phone in our room was completely disconnected. I was willing to forgive all of those things and still enjoy my stay but the kicker came at midnight. I am a 22 year old female who is traveling with my younger sister and we had been driving for 13 hours to get here so we fell asleep around 10 PM. At midnight I woke up to an incessant pounding on my door, disoriented I checked the peep hole and it was a strange man aggressively trying to enter my hotel room. He was banging on the door, wiggling the handle, and trying to look into the peep hole. Obviously I was freaked out so I used my cellphone to call the front desk, and they said they would investigate it. At this point it’s been ten minutes of the guy trying to get in and I am entering full blown panic mode. Another ten minutes went by and the guy walked away so I was finally trying to relax again when the pounding resumed. This time it was a young woman and an older woman, one of whom was the hotel staff. I cautiously opened the door and told them to go away to which the hotel staff person said that THEY HAD CHECKED MY SISTER AND I INTO THE SAME ROOM AS THE MAN AND HIS WIFE and were unaware that we were in the room. I have never been so angry in my life. Not only will I not be sleeping for the rest of the night because my anxiety is through the roof, but I can’t imagine what could’ve happened if their key card machine was working and they had given them a room key to our room and someone had entered while we were sleeping. I am absolutely disgusted by the organization and attentiveness of the staff, the unprofessionalism, lack of cleanliness, and much more. Don’t stay here. Drive the extra hour to Berkeley....
Read moreI have stayed extensively at IHG properties for close to two decades. This property, while fairly new, was one of the most disappointing of any of my stays.
We tried to use the swimming pool around 5:30 pm the evening of our stay, but the water was totally dirty and murky; the pool did not appear to have had any cleaning attention in days. We took the last two towels available and the dirty towel bin was overflowing. I thought the issue might have been heavy use earlier in the day, but, by morning, the situation would have been rectified. Unfortunately no. The water was still murky and it appeared not to have been filtered at all. The used towel bin was still overflowing and there were no fresh towels available.
My wife, two grandchildren, and myself went down to breakfast at around 7:30, only to find the refrigerator to resemble Old Mother Hubbard's cupboard-entirely bare. No milk, only 2 yogurts, just a few boiled eggs. When we asked the hostess about the situation, she replied "None today, maybe tomorrow - try tomorrow." The frozen pancake batter in the pancake machine wasn't conducive to making pancakes and the individually wrapped muffins at the bread station were totally frozen-as if they had been just removed from the freezer. One of Holiday Inn's breakfast marketing items has always been the cinnamon rolls, except there were none to be found at this location. The presentation of the hot (? - really?) food items left much to be desired.
While our room was clean, it had obvious heavy use judging by the cigarette burns on the night stand. For a property only open about 3 years, the towels were very worn, stained, and rough - showing signs of heavy use and badly needing replacement.
Lastly, upon check-in, there was no acknowledgement of the IHG Reward Membership.
In my experience and opinion, this property reflects a lack of management's attention. Had this property been located in a popular destination area, I could see that a few things might have been overlooked. However, it appears that this property is a convenient location for transient construction workers on very short stays.
I cannot recommend this property as it is currently...
