The caretaker or innkeeper or manager, Charlie, is a very sweet older gentlemen. He had boiled eggs, apples, bananas, and pastries for breakfast, along with Soda's and even some beer. The best part of this hotel is it is right out outside of the Sulpher Springs Park, literally right across the street. A great place to sit in the stream is about a quarter mile from the inn. The main spring areas are a short 5 min drive. We stayed in a suit, there were two of us, but you could fit between 7-8 people in the room. There are also two grills out back, one charcoal and one propane, you have to bring your own charcoal and propane though. The small kitchenette has a coffee maker, toaster, full size fridge with top freezer, microwave, and an electric skillet that we used to make hamburgers on. You have to clean your dishes. They also provide plates, bowls, utensils, glasses, etc. The room was clean, no bugs or anything inside, the room was a little run down but if you've lived in Iraq in a tent, this place will feel like the Ritz. It suited us just fine because we spent most of the day at the park. It has cable tv and wireless internet. There were a few friendly cats on the property. The cats mostly mind their own business but a few enjoy some petting, others run away, they are friendly. The inn provides bicycles to cruise around. We didn't ride the bikes, we saw them, they are an older style, no gears, and there are about 6 bikes total ranging in size for kids to adults. The hotel is also about 10 min drive from the Chickasaw Cultural Center, a must-see attraction, and 3 min from the Artisan Hotel and Casino, and about 25 min from Lake of the Arbuckles. This is a great place to stay if visiting Sulpher Springs. After our stay, Charlie thanked us for our business and gave us a card for a free nights stay on our next visit. We would stay here again in...
Read moreWe pulled up to the Sulphur Springs Inn and actually wondered if we had the right place. I walked into the lobby and being a fan of antiques I have to say I loved the look of the place. However, no one was there. I stepped back out to my car and called the owner, Charlie. He asked me to step back into the lobby and he would be right there. Charlie is an older gentleman with a kind smile and large white beard. He was full of information about the local area. Charlie sat my wife and me down, pulled out a map of the Chickasaw National Recreation Area and proceeded to tell us everything we would need to know to start exploring. Charlie told us that he had a cancellation that day and was moving us into a cabin. The cabin was absolutely wonderful! Two full beds, two sitting chairs, a TV with Roku, Netflicks and a few other channels. The bathroom was nicely sized with a full tub and shower. The kitchen had a refrigerator, sink and small frying pan. All we needed to do was step out of the front door and walk across the street to enter then Recreation Area. And talk about QUIET! Very nice! If I had any complaint (and it is a weak complaint at best) it would be the wi-fi. The TV would not stay connected to the internet unless it was late a night. We have Sprint for our cell service so there was NO service for us (that, of course, is not the fault of the Inn). We were able to log on to the wi-fi with the password Charlie provided, but the connection was about the same as the TV. HOWEVER! We did not go there to connect on the internet and surf. We came there to visit, take pictures and just relax. Mission accomplished. You may want to give the Sulphur Springs Inn a look as soon as you can. Worth the price paid? Yes. Charlie is wonderful and the location is outstanding. We...
Read moreI brought my son and his dog for a 3 night mom and son outing. We never staying in the finest lodgings but do expect that they be clean and at least somewhat similar to the pictures on their websites. We would have boarded the dog and stayed some place else in a heartbeat if we had known the truth. This place is so overgrown that the door to the office is barely visible and the area where the hammock and firepit should be are actually rotted and falling in. The room had mold all over the bathroom ceiling and walls. The floors were filthy. The fold out couch had all sorts of debris under the cushions that made it unusable. We did, fortunately, get the "suite" which had two full size beds. We had to wash the dishes and utensils before using and the grill out the back door was disgusting!!! The "European" breakfast was muffins in cellophane and fruit. I'm sorry, but there wasn't anything that would lure me back for another stay. We paid over $120 per night for this mess. Perhaps it was charming 20 years ago, when I assume the pictures were taken, but no...
