Poor Girls Cafe — Restaurant in Sulphur

My family and I stopped by this place today after googling placed to eat. My wife read the reviews and despite the recent poor reviews we decided to go and check it out. We really want to support local and eat at the mom and pop type of places. we sat our selves like the sign says and we had been greeted quickly and got our drinks fast. but they are very short staffed and after 25 minutes of waiting for someone to come and take our food order we decided to leave. I know was torn between the 2 or 3 stars but the service that we did get was good. being short staffed is a bummer and makes things very difficult. I was really wanting to try the home made cinnamon rolls I saw but I could not wait 1 hour for food as there was people there before us and they still had no food when we left. if you have time to wait then go for it but I just cant see...

Very disappointing! We used to love this restaurant but no more. At first due to the cigarette smoke that seeps into from the "smoking section" that makes it unbearable to sit in much less eat in. We ordered "loaded baked potatoes" to go and fried okra. The potatoes were OK but "loaded" is bacon, cheese and tubs of butter and sleeves of sour cream, not too terrible. However our fried okra was in the tiniest cups, one had 5 pieces of okra and the other about 8 pieces! Really??? Why would anyone serve such a minuscule amount of food and charge for it to boot? I don't know if they dislike to go orders or their food had become this bad and this tiny. I will never eat there again and that is sad because this used to be a great...

Thought I would try this place out since I always see it and think of a nice family owned down to earth home cooked meal. Tried the 8oz. Ribeye steak or thought it was for $15.00. What a RIP off. Was no way 8oz. Was all grizzle. Looked like leftover scraps I would give my dog. My waitress was really pleasant and felt bad about serving it. Said it was the first time she ever served it and had no idea it looked like what it did. She asked the owners daughter to compensate me or something and she refused.
