This is a very clean motel masquerading as a 4 star hotel, trying to push a message of minimalism while overlooking the basic needs of its guests.
There was no coffee maker or microwave in the room (microwave only available in the lobby), no outlets near the vanity, and several missing essentials like a blow dryer, shower curtain for modesty, dresser drawers, and even a proper closet door.
Quotes and poems about “uncluttered living” were ironically scribbled on the walls in Sharpie, yet the room—while minimalist in concept—felt cramped and poorly designed. The furniture prioritized style over function. For instance, instead of drawers, a second desk/vanity was installed under the TV—rendering both unusable if anyone wanted to watch TV or sit without eye strain. Side tables were replaced with wall-mounted lamps with exposed cords, which were visible throughout the room, adding to the cluttered feeling rather than reducing it. Our luggage unfortunately also added to the feeling because the lack of closet doors or drawers gave no options for guests to organize themselves.
A console table between the beds made the space feel even tighter, and the lack of a shower curtain meant no one could use the bathroom while someone else showered unless they didn't care about modesty. (non-partnered individuals need a curtain) The lack of this basic convenience added significant time to our mornings—our group of four consistently needed an extra hour each day just to get ready.
The mini-fridge was stocked with “Liquid Death” (a trendy canned water), but no plain bottled water.
Other amenities also missed the mark. The advertised “cold plunge” was just a small one-person tub filled with chlorinated water, located right at the main entrance in full public view. The rooftop area was too close to a busy street to be truly relaxing, and two of the three fireplaces weren’t working even though the area looked appealing
Parking was a headache—we ended up in the far corner of a neighboring hotel’s lot.
Worst of all, we paid $279 per night for three nights and were denied breakfast, despite the hotel’s website advertising free breakfast. The front desk, with a condescending attitude, informed us our Expedia booking was “too low” to qualify. (We didn't book through expedia) We were begrudgingly offered a $25 coupon, which wouldn’t even cover one full breakfast for 1 day for our group.
To their credit, the place was spotless, which does matter to me above all—but unfortunately, cleanliness alone isn’t enough to make up for the discomfort and lack of hospitality. The headboards, inspired by topographical mountain maps, were admittedly a very cool design touch. The toiletries also smelled great and it was nice to have conditioner. This place is trying much too hard to be...
Read moreWe stayed here two nights spring break Wednesday and Thursday. I would like to start by saying how misleading the hotel is. When I booked off an early rate they said it would be complimentary breakfast. Even a patron who came in after asked the same thing stating he booked the same rate with that guarantee. As well as other amenities being open such as the sauna. The check in staff looked at me as if I and this patron were lying. They also had nothing to accomadate for the fact the property was still unfinished with amenities like the restaurant and sauna not being open. Yet charging 150 a night for an unfinished product. They say they are building a new property but they just renovated a preexisting location. The work done is unfinished and poor. The walls are extremely thin and the front door has a gap at the bottom of about an inch and a half. So with this, the noise of people banging around the hallway kept us up. The doors are thin and the latches feel old even though the building is being remodeled. The back door with the porch doesn’t lock unless you actually latch it. Even if you close and lock the door it doesn’t work. So if someone forgets to use the latch you’re an easy target to be robbed. Another annoying part is it not having a microwave in the room or hotel itself. You have to walk across the street and ask the coffee shop guy at bar to take it in the back and heat it for you…. Also the free coffee was luke warmThey say they offer all the streaming apps on the tv but it’s only YouTube and peacock. So anyone using prime Netflix paramount the main ones you’re out of luck. The WiFi doesn’t work for large devices like tablet laptop or gaming consoles like switch. Again the construction feels cheap and rushed to be put together. What was promised but not delivered should of guaranteed some accommodation. We were excited because it looked new and that it catered to adventurous who like to travel snowboard hike mountain bike. There’s a sister property in salt lake we want to try, but not worth the risk after this. For the price I would 100 percent try another location this is just a cheap...
Read moreThis was our first time in Lake Tahoe. When we drove up to the Evo hotel, I literally clapped & cheered because the location was so perfect. From the view of the trees and lake to the proximity to nice boutiques, local restaurants and a small theater. The hotel itself is set up to showcase the Tahoe scenery. There are multiple outdoor sitting areas. Our favorite was the upper balcony lounge with its large fire pit and cozy seating. We enjoyed sitting out there in the evenings just soaking in the views and fresh air. They even have a dry sauna that has glass windows that highlight the beautiful trees. There is also a cold plunge pool. The rooms are simple and somewhat small but the space is used well. The bathroom is massive. It’s a stretch to complain about anything but we really would have appreciated a chair in the room. You need to sit on the bed to watch TV. But most days we spent outside exploring the area anyway. One evening we had drinks next door at Evo’s restaurant/bar. They were top notch. I can’t leave a review without complimenting the staff at this hotel. They are very friendly and seem to really love their job, which says something about the owner and his motto. A special shout out to Juan who works the front desk most evenings. He has the best smile and such a helpful demeanor. He greeted us each day and always made sure we were comfortable. He went out of his way to make us enjoy the stay. We are already planning another...
