Absolutely would NOT recommend this hotel.
We stayed here after the Neon Marathon in Tampa, and this turned out to be one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had.
From the moment we walked in, it was clear the room hadn’t been cleaned properly. The bathtub was visibly dirty, and we had to scrub it ourselves before using it. The area around the toilet was filthy, the tiles around the tub were broken, and there were what looked like blood spots on the floor. The mattress was torn, and the mattress protector was stained, clearly not washed between guests.
Later that evening, as I was getting ready to get in bed, I looked up and saw a dead roach stuck to the ceiling. After that, I couldn’t rest. I started checking behind the one picture frame, behind all the furniture, and every possible spot around the room to make sure there weren’t any more. I felt anxious and unsettled the entire night, constantly checking under the blankets.
To make matters worse, when we went to check out, the staff tried to charge us $20 for a washcloth that had some temporary green hair spray on it from my husband’s hair (from the race). We explained that it was washable event spray — we’ve used it at many other hotels before and never once had a problem. We told them it would come out easily with bleach, but they didn’t care. They gave us the option to pay $20, wash it ourselves, or wait 45 minutes for housekeeping to check. We weren’t going to argue, so we just told them to take the $20.
The most frustrating part? We left the room cleaner than when we arrived — and still got treated like we had caused damage.
We mentioned everything that was wrong with the room — the roach, the filth, the broken fixtures — and the woman at the front desk was completely unfazed. No apology. No concern. Not even a hint of surprise. It was like she’d heard it all before and simply didn’t care.
This hotel was filthy, poorly maintained, and the staff was rude and unprofessional. Save your money and your peace of mind — we will never...
Read moreAbsolute Scam – Stay Away from Econolodge Airport RJ Stadium Tampa & Staypark Travel
This was hands down the worst travel experience I have ever had, and both Econolodge Airport RJ Stadium Tampa and Staypark Travel are to blame. Months ago, I booked a one-night stay for September 13th with parking through the 28th. I had a confirmation email, a confirmation number — everything looked locked in and legit. But when we showed up on the 13th, the nightmare began.
The front desk “employee” was not only completely useless but also downright rude. According to his computer, our reservation wasn’t until the 14th. We explained over and over that we were sailing out of the Port of Tampa on the 14th and needed the room the night of the 13th. His response? A shrug, zero effort to help, and basically: “Too bad, go find another hotel.” No apology. No attempt to accommodate. Nothing but attitude and arrogance.
So there we were, the night before our cruise, left scrambling to find another hotel room and parking — things we had already booked and PAID FOR months ago. Instead of being taken care of, we were tossed aside like garbage by this incompetent excuse for a hotel.
And Staypark Travel? Even worse. Their “customer service” is a joke. When I called to fix the issue, I got an endless automated system that eventually dumped me into a voicemail. I left messages on the 13th. As of today? No call back. No help. No refund. NOTHING. They took our money and vanished. That’s not a booking service — that’s theft.
Between Econolodge’s rude, clueless staff and Staypark’s nonexistent customer support, this entire experience was nothing short of a scam. These two companies are a tag team of incompetence and dishonesty.
Avoid this hotel. Avoid Staypark Travel. Don’t risk your money, don’t risk your plans, and don’t risk your sanity. They will screw you over without hesitation, and you’ll be left...
Read moreOn 1/2/2025 my daughter and I drove a very long distance to stay at a hotel that was close to the Tampa airport as we had a flight at At 6 AM. I chose Econo lodge because it was a family place and had a decent reputation. We arrived around midnight and walked into room 750. To begin with there was no heat in the room and we had to wait for a heating unit which didn’t work properly and it was freezing indoors. I pulled back my covers and there were Cheetos and stains on the sheets. The top sheet had white crusty transparent stains on them so I had to climb into bed with my daughter. The appliances were coming out of the walls. There were cockroaches crawling along the floorboards. The water in the shower came out of the appliances from the wall, not the faucet. There was a woman next-door who had men come in, and we had to listen to X-rated, moaning and groaning until it became too much. We stayed in the room for three hours, but it was too cold so we got in our car to turn on our heater Drive to the airport cell phone lot and try to sleep for at least one hour. When I caught my flight and got back home, I called the office several times to complain and asked for the supervisor Gina Santiago. I was constantly told she was in a meeting and never returned my phone calls. The last time I called they told me Gina just went on vacation and now I’m the new manager and her name was Stephanie Vasquez. That was a complete lie because there is no such employee as I found out later on after I left my complaints. Nobody could offer me any refund and all I got was an apology. Needless to say, my daughter is still dealing with the horrific experience of this hotel in general. I have never in my life of travel seeing anything so disgusting ever. Please do not for your health and your mental health sake. Stay at this hotel. Econo lodge will not refund you and they...
