Hyde Park Hotel — Hotel in Tampa

Save yourself some headache and money and just go somewhere else. This place is very poorly ran and the owner is is very unprofessional if you have any type of problem.. just go to a more reputable spot. I'm only writing this review in hopes of saving someone the trouble. The only truly good thing about this place is the location. Other than that, it's about a $55 a night hotel. You WILL be disappointed if you think you're gonna have Hyde Park level service at THIS place.. it has unfortunately been almost ran into the ground. And even the owners son let's guests know what a shoddy person his father is and how poorly the place is ran, unprovoked at that. If you're staying there for any more than a day or two good luck getting linens or anything you need, even after specifically asking for them and waiting days....it's truly ran like a slum, it boils down to the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing and the owner only being concerned with money... The owner's son mentioned something about a previous employee there when things were running good maybe they should rehire that guy! Because the staff now completely sucks! Kia is nice though. Everyone else seems to be missing brain cells however!! BOTTOM LINE SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE AND STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! YOUR PEACE OF MIND IS NOT WORTH IT! You can get a good idea of who you're dealing with by reading some of the replies to these reviews..... The proof is in the pudding do yourself a favor and don't stay here... The locals know what goes on at this place and it's crazy that he takes advantage of unsuspecting people from out of town because they don't know the difference and only see the allure of Hyde Park and all that has to offer...(mind you the only good thing is the location) ...The motels along Florida Ave have better service than this! Take note, I waited about 2 months to write this review so I could process my anger and different emotions that I felt throughout my stay... This was from the heart, not based on emotion as if it just happened.... Good luck travelers! You deserve a pleasant stay, I wouldn't gamble on your peace of mind during a vacation! Because this place is sure not going to accommodate you if you have a problem like another, more reputable hotel would!! It's just "like it or lump it, good luck" at this place!! Very cheap owner unfortunately! Which is sad because the place has the potential to be great, he's just too cheap and doesn't have the mental fortitude and that's proven in the first 5 seconds of talking to him!

Safe travels...

We drove into Tampa from Lakeland, Florida. We thought it would be easy and convenient for us to stay there since it is near Tampa General Hospital, where we had to be the next day. The front entrance was locked and so we couldn’t get in. We had to use a call box to get a code to get inside. When we finally got inside the hotel there was a very unpleasant musty smell. A gentleman then appeared from one of the rooms and asked if we needed help. He noticed that I was looking around and mentioned the place was being renovated. The place and floors were extremely dirty, and it looked like no one had swept or cleaned in weeks, maybe months. I read reviews from a couple of years back people have been complaining of uncleanliness of the place. I can understand if a place is being renovated, but it was a bit too much. We got into our room, it also had a unpleasant smell. There was a really small kitchen area which didn’t look very clean either; the stove top especially had a film of grime on it. Also, our bathroom had some grime and thick dust film underneath the toilet and underneath the standing sink drainage pipe. We tried to make it a bit cooler, but the AC temperature is set to stay at a certain temperature. It was noisy and didn’t really cool the room either. To top of it all off, our sheets didn’t look very clean either. I was so grossed out being in the room and wanted to go, but we had to be at the hospital at 5:00 am, so it was too late to go elsewhere. I feel the photos are very deceptive online when looking for a hotel. There are too many things wrong with this place; they shouldn't be renting rooms. I wouldn’t stay there again, even if they offered me a free room. I’m sure this place in its younger days might have been a pleasant stay. Unfortunately, the whole of the place needs complete...

I arrived at this hotel on June 5th. I researched this hotel before making a reservation and it seemed pretty decent from previous online reviews and from the online photos of the rooms and property. Oh how looks can be so deceiving. This place is a dump and I didn't enjoy my stay. I'm a traveling business woman and online motivational blogger company name A_Lover_Of_Positive_Thoughts so I a decided to relocate to Tampa from Colorado for my business. The monthly rate was affordable however the room's are so dirty. I dropped my ring behind the stove for they have kitchenettes. I had to move the stove and OMG so much fifth just Gross. The bathrooms are small and My bathroom was fifthy. Your suppose to have housecleaning every week. I was there for three months and only received housekeeping twice. I had to kill bugs in the room on several occasions. I sat outside one night and to my surprise was greeted by mice on the property. I asked if I could receive postal mail their however they never gave me my mail and stole most my packages. The maintenance guy goes into your room when your not their. The owner is very rude locked me out of the laundry facilities while I was washing my clothes. The women in the office is very rude and hates for you to ask for anything. I was told by housekeeping the Owners Jim doesn't pay his employees and most quit. Not to mention they have a escort service running so men are in and out of the hotel at all times of the day and Night. The owner does not supply the rooms with the coffee and supplies as stated on his website. This hotel is in a great neighborhood however the Owner does not take care of the property and very poor customer service. If I had to rate this place I'd say one star. Worst experience ever. Do your research first this...
