Our recent stay at this hotel in New Hampshire had its highlights and some notable disappointments. The location was definitely a strong point—close to trailheads and plenty of food options, making it convenient for outdoor activities and dining. However, the overall experience was marred by discrepancies between the advertised and actual condition of the hotel. The photos online suggest a modern, fresh look, but upon arrival, we found the rooms to be quite outdated. While the rooms were clean, they had a somewhat musty smell, which was a bit off-putting. On the other hand, the hallways and main areas were well-maintained and smelled nice and clean.
One of the most frustrating aspects was the misleading “pet-friendly” claim. We were surprised to discover that pets are not actually allowed, which caused us significant inconvenience as we had to scramble to find a last-minute dog sitter after filling out our online pre-check in contract the night prior to leaving for New Hampshire. This was a clear case of false advertising that could have been avoided with more transparent information displayed on their sites. And truthfully, we would not have booked a room here as we take our dog to NH with us every year. We were very sad he couldn’t attend this year.
The breakfast was decent in terms of variety and options, and we appreciated that. However, it was inconsistent in execution. Every morning, we had to approach the front desk to refill essentials, as the coffee/espresso machine cartridge was empty and the waffle mix was gone. Additionally, although they offered bagels, there was no toaster available, which was quite odd and limited our options.
Overall, the location and breakfast had their positives, the outdated rooms, misleading pet policy, and breakfast service issues detracted from an otherwise promising stay. Improvements in transparency, room updates, and breakfast management would make a...
Read moreWe booked this hotel because it was a reasonable drive to North Conway and the amenities seemed good.
We arrived to see only four cars in the parking lot. There was someone in front of us when we tried to check in and the associate handling the guest was having problems dealing with her and using the computer. We waited for about 25 minutes to check in. He never addressed us to say hello and he would be with us shortly. He didn’t call for someone else to check us in. I assume he was the only one working because we requested more towels and blankets and he brought them to our room.
There were no towels in the pool. The sauna was out of service. A reason we booked this hotel.
The refrigerator in our room is very loud and kept me up most of the night.
Complimentary breakfast was a big let down. Options were cold cereal, fruit, egg sandwiches that we needed to microwave…yuck. I tried to make a waffle but the iron didn’t work. We wanted orange juice but the machine gave us water. I asked at the desk and was told they haven’t had any for weeks.
We headed out at 8:30 am and left the “Do not disturb sign” on our door. When we returned at 11:45 am housekeeping was in our room and had to spend time in the lobby until he was done. We didn’t want this service or anyone in our room.
The tv in lobby has been removed and the one in the breakfast area was not able to be turned on.
I opened the nightstand to look for information about the hotel and area. That doesn’t exist but there was a dirty tissue in the drawer. Housekeeping isn’t too attentive.
There is no elevator and it should be noted on the hotel website.
Find another hotel. We were very disappointed. We will never stay here again and do...
Read moreArriving to the hotel it looks depressing…. We thought it looked closed. Going into the dark lobby there was one guy in a box under a bright light, the lights in the lobby sitting area were off. The person at the desk was very to the point…as you walk down to your room you pass the dark pool room and noticed the rug worn hallways. The room was small and the tub looked rust stained. The bathroom towels were so thin that the ones you can buy at the dollar store are better. The bed felt clean and the shower was strong so that was a plus. The rug in the room also was very worn. My biggest problem with my stay was I was there for a wedding and had my dress coat hanging in the closet. When I put it on a bug jumped out of the coat. I thought it was a cockroach. I told the manager I wanted a refund on my second night there because I couldn’t sleep worrying about if there were other bugs in the room. I asked the front desk person to give me plastic bags so I could put all my stuff in them because I was afraid of bringing bugs home. The front desk person took me into the laundry room to give me the plastic bags and the laundry room was such a mess with laundry all over the floor…. I also wondered how clean my linens and towels were that were in my room. The manager wanted to only reimburse me for half of the second night and I was not happy with that. I called him multiple times and he never called me once…. Just related through his front desk people. |I was very disappointed in the way the manager handled it….and I will also send this report to Wyndham hotel because they probably don’t want to be attached to such...
