Songbird — Restaurant in Tamworth

DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! The service was awful! We ordered takeout in house and decided to get a round of drinks and wait. Figuring it would be quick anyway. We arrived at 6pm. Our food did not come out until 7:40!!!! Meanwhile my 2 year old is still waiting for her dinner! One server taking on the whole restaurant and supposedly 2 cooks out back. That's it!!! They over promise and highly under deliver. Fast forward to getting home finally, OUR ORDER IS WRONG!!!! I call to get the situation rectified. The woman, i'm guessing the owner, was so combative. She didnt believe me that the order was wrong and made me bring back all the food! Meanwhile my family was still waiting to eat. The right thing would have been to make the correction and I would have happily come to get it. I get there. Get a refund because its 2 and a half hours of wasted time. The owner takes the food back into the kitchen!!! DISGUSTING!!! I made sure to tell her that was unsanitary and against health policies and that my daughter had taken a piece of chicken out of there. I told her if she is gonna throw it out there was a barrel right next to me where everyone could see that it wouldnt be used to serve to others. She refused and went into the kitchen. NEEDLESS TO SAY BOARD OF HEALTH is being called on this gross joint. If you cant ha dle the flow of people coming in....CLOSE! This would have been all fine if the communicated in the beginning that they were short staffed and was going to take longer than usual. Common courtesy!

UPDATE: forgot to mention that the bathroom was gross!!! No toilet paper in either stalls and the lights were out above the stall. There was a small light above sink that barely lit the bathroom.

Hungry as the dickens, my boyfriend and I happened upon this restaurant after a rainy and strenuous hike on Mt. Chocorua (who knows how to pronounce that name anyways?). Pulling into the restaurant, our first impression was that this was a nice place. Our second impression was that the stick things and tea were awesome. Ravenously, we ordered our chow and excitedly waited for it to arrive....However, we grew frustrated with the time it took for our food to be prepared and our angry stomachs growled at the waitress. The wait time was the only major downside though...The food was scrumptious: Egg rolls and chicken were great, but I wouldn't recommend the chili sauce on the shrimp. It was too damn smokey! A couple other downsides included the fact that my boyfriend got a fortune cookie telling him he was stupid...what kind of fortune is that????! However, overall it was a good value for the average Chinese restaurant, and we left satisfied and filled with new knowledge of the Chinese zodiac signs...

The food has absolutely no flavor no seasoning and no taste. The only thing Chinese about this restaurant is there actual Chinese people working there. Everything seemed to be overcooked tough and dried out. Do yourself a favor if you're heading north or south on Route 16 just continue heading north or south. Do not waste your time and money at this restaurant. It has been several years since we have been here. We decided to give it one more shot. We ordered the appetizer combination platter which was over breaded totally dried out and flavorless. We also had the house special lo mein which had absolutely zero flavor or seasoning to it. The pork fried rice was about the only thing that you could barely taste. The only positive thing I can actually say about the restaurant that is changed is that there used to be a drunk woman that sat on the corner of the bar forever and would never shut up. Thank God...
