We booked our reservation the day before our stay via Hotels Tonight. Upon arrival at the motel, the staff initially did not honor the rate for the room we booked as it was advertised on Hotels Tonight (wanted to charge us $40 on the spot despite having a locked in rate for a double Queen room) and put us in an ADA room, which did not have any furniture in it or door on the bathroom. This proved to be an issue, since the motel does not currently have any curtains or black out shades installed - so you could see directly into the shower from the parking lot/sidewalk area outside our room. Only then did the staff quickly put us into an adjacent King room which had a bathroom door - however there are no blackout shades currently in the entire motel so my husband had to duct tape a blanket on the wall so that we could have privacy while we slept. This didn’t resolve the issue of a ton of light coming into the room from the outside lighting, so if you need complete darkness to sleep I wouldn’t recommend staying here until the motel has installed better window treatments for sleeping (and privacy). There was also one dead cricket in the room, but this was likely because it was recently sprayed. Photos attached. Additionally, the Samsung TV in our new room (#12) didn’t work and continued to flicker and turn off every 8-12 minutes, video attached. I would stay again if the issues are resolved - it’s a great price for a clean, new, cute motel.

Exterior and decor are quirky with a retro vibe. It looks good, but functionally the rooms have many problems. First, the rooms are incredibly dark. A simple floor lamp can fix this. Second, the nightstands are completely dysfunctional. They are so tiny that there is no room to put anything on them. They are also obnoxious I’ve never experienced “loud” nightstands before. But these are hollow metal cylinders that everything that touches them a clanging echo. One of my biggest frustrations was the lack of service. This is one of those “no staff on duty” after 6pm locations. because of this, there was no way to communicate with them to find out about the availability of an iron and ironing board. I was here on business and intended to wear a tie. An iron and ironing board are standard hotel room equipment. If you are not going to have one in every room, and you are not going to have staff on duty who can provide this to you, there should be some type of a utility closet with a key code so you could self serve or a laundry room. All things considered, if you are a tourist that just needs a reasonably cheap place to crash and expect to spend little time in the room, you would probably be satisfied. But this is definitely not a room for a business traveler.

I’ve stayed at Taos Motor Lodge several times before and always found it to be a clean and comfortable spot, but this last visit was extremely disappointing—and will definitely be my last. We booked a room with two beds. One of the platform beds was broken and completely unusable, and the other had an uncomfortable springy mattress that made no sense for a platform with wooden slats. Not sure what kind of setup that is supposed to be, but it certainly didn’t make for a restful night. The quality has gone way downhill. The linens were so itchy we couldn’t sleep well, and the sofa looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. I reached out to complain, and instead of acknowledging the actual problem with the broken bed, the person responding via text just kept talking about the TV setup (which was also overly complicated and frustrating to use). My parents came along on this trip and were just as uncomfortable as I was. Nothing about this stay felt like the calm, cozy experience we used to have here. Really disappointed. Not coming back.

Overall our stay at Taos Motor Lodge was ok. Cleaning and overall maintenance needs to be improved to bring this place up a notch. The location was easy to find and was in a decent location. The room was spacious and the keurig coffee pot and mini fridge came in handy as well as bowls and plates that were provided. There were several of us that stayed at Taos Motor Lodge for a weekend family event. My room was #3. The room was nicely updated and overall has potential to be a very nice place if cleanliness and beds are improved. The floor was very dirty and it was obvious it had not been vacuumed/swept or mopped before we arrived. We could not walk on it without our shoes on as our feet/socks would become black with dirt and debris. The mattresses on both platform beds were flexible, thin, uncomfortable, and would dip in the center. We were very disappointing and did not get good rest. The other 4 rooms that members of our family reserved had decent, proper mattresses while unit #3 was the only one with horrible mattresses. The bathroom door was caked with dust and so was the vent in the bathroom. Detailed cleaning is not done. The rooms seem to get just a mere wipe down during cleaning. Out of the 5 rooms that our families reserved 4 of them had keypad door issues with the battery not working for entry. It’s obvious this is a reoccurring issue and should already be known and addressed before guests arrive. The staff that assisted us during our stay were very kind...

We booked two nights at this retro motel as part of our vacation through New Mexico in October and we were thoroughly pleased! I had been researching and planning our itinerary and saw this little motor lodge pop up in my search. When we arrived, the woman in the office handle our reservation efficiently and gave us the information we needed for Wi-Fi, etc. Our room was upstairs and I immediately realized that if you have a lot of luggage like we did, you might want to request a downstairs room, as there is no elevator and we had to lug everything up to our room. The room itself was so charming and very homey and comfortable. It was roomy and the spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom had a lovely walk in shower with plenty of hot water. The only concern I had (and it is just a personal concern), was that there was not a no-slip mat on the bottom of the shower or any grab bars, but that could be easily remedied probably. We didn't think to ask the office if they had a no-slip shower mat. The room had a coffee maker and cute ceramic mugs also. I believe the mugs could be purchased if you wanted to keep one as a souvenir. The room was pretty quiet, we didn't seem to hear anything from the other rooms, and only occasionally heard some of the louder passing traffic. After dark, it was very quiet. I really liked this place and the rate was quite reasonable compared to the hotels closer in to the plaza in Town. Very well operated...
