Had a horrible experience if not the worst experience. I would rate this a 0 star if i could. Booked a room with a king bed for $269. Was put in a smoking room covertly. The receptionist complete ignored the fact the room would be dripping with smoke stained surfaces. I had to identify the room as smoking for my self. Which was pretty easy as i was backhanded by a smoke wind gust when opening the door. See the picture with the ash tray for the confirmation . I checked in at 11:50pm. When I called the front desk at 12:05am there were no other rooms available. Meaning... somebody consciously thought to screw someone over. So, I’m stuck in a room that can potential cause me health problems. I check the bed and there are stains with complementary hair (see photo). I call to get a linen change. I pace for 20 minutes on the smoke covered, crusty brown carpet (see photo). The carpet left a film of soot on my feet (see foot photo). How much smoke does it take to crust carpet!? And then, the security guy brings me new sheets. He hands me the sheets and says “good luck, have a nice day”. I confirm that I’m expected to change my sheets. He said, “that’s what they told me”. Sadly, I got to bed at 1am. Needless to say, I’ll be cancel my remaining days and changing hotels in the morning. It’s the morning, I’m grumpy and the in room coffee machine doesn’t work. I’m concerned that by clothes now smell of smoke for the days client meeting. **********Updated********* The more I reflect, the more I come to the realization of the most aggravating part for me... That the corporate/Hilton policy to overbook and knowing allow non-smoking guest be put in smoking rooms without an alternative. Out of all of the experiences from your hotels, this notion lingers in my mind and frustrates me the most. The other experiences can be coached and fixed with individual action. Selling rooms to non-smoking guests when none are available is a corporate/hotel decision. One that I feel underlines the moral fiber of the organization. At the moment, I can not see past this. P.S. my apologies that there aren’t more picture. They keep disappearing. I hope google does not allow requests for them to be taken down.

UPDATED July 2024 after staying another week at this location with my family this time for a little vacation. Why Would You Stay Anywhere Else? Embassy Suites by Hilton Phoenix Tempe is an absolute treasure! Sure, it's a bit older, but that's part of its undeniable charm. In a world where hotels charge extra for every little amenity, this place is a refreshing throwback to the days when comfort and convenience were the standards. Each room comes equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, and two TVs, separate living room to host guests in front or a room for the kid—amenities that other hotels either charge extra for or don’t include at all. These thoughtful inclusions truly enhances the comfort of your stay. The pool is a standout feature, with hours from 6 am to 10 pm, perfect for early birds and night owls alike. The atmosphere is always vibrant with great music playing, making it an ideal spot to relax. But what truly sets Embassy Suites Tempe apart is the breakfast experience. It's simply the best free breakfast you'll find at any hotel these days. The variety and quality are unmatched, and the breakfast staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, going above and beyond to ensure your meal is perfect. The front desk staff is also top-notch, always ready to assist with a smile and ensure that your stay is as pleasant as possible. In an earlier review this year, I called it "a hidden gem," and that still holds true. If you're looking for a hotel that combines old-school charm with modern comfort and exceptional service, Embassy Suites Tempe is the place to be. Why stay anywhere else? Review from January 2024 I stayed at 4 different hotels across the valley this week. This one is by far the best. All of these newer places seem to forget how to treat people. The amount of bang for your buck you get here is incredible. The staff at the free breakfast buffet treated me better than when I was out to eat at a local restaurant. This is a hidden gem and I will be staying here again when I return to the valley of the sun.

Stayed here for 5 days when the AC broke in another place. I am attached to Embassy when I travel because they've always been so predicably awesome. Work always books rooms there and they've always been very nice. Denver, Chicago, Memphis, Atlanta, whatever....always awesome. This Embassy was so way different. A remodeled outdoor motel style Embassy Suites. Not an indoor atrium setup, which isn't bad, very Arizona chic, but it was a worn down cowboy. Weirdly, all the felt under the furniture and chairs was hanging down like people had ripped it open. The weather strip on the door peeled off every time you opened it. The AC must have been a weird swamp cooler/AC mix because it was cool but super damp, humid, and sticky inside the room. When we left and unpacked our clothes they felt damp and wet. We let our kid crawl around the room(s) and after 5 minutes her feet and legs were covered in black soot. Could have asked for a new room but why move everything just to get a new worn out room. I will say that it is safe. They offer the nice 5-7pm happy hour. Have a pool. The location off the 60 is perfect for going places. The staff is nice. We liked their style on Covid protection protocols. However, we kept leaving our trash outside, they would take the trash, then not leave a new bag. We kept having to go to the front desk to ask for another trash bag. I just don't think, for paying the same price as big city Embassy Suites, it is the same standard of every other Embassy Suites I've stayed before....you book at a Hilton brand nationwide chain for reliability of expectations and this hit way below every other Embassy I have stayed. We moved to a different similar style "suites hotel" that was cheaper and nicer until our original place had the AC fixed.

The breakfast is the best breakfast around for hotel food. The rooms are nice, most of the staff is friendly except for this middle aged Karen that had it out for us. Yes we had cats but they are perfect & if we had the chance to end our stay normally then the room would have been cleaned before housekeeping because that is how we do it. We never make the lives of anyone more difficult just by being us.

I wish I could say the same for the staff that had my girlfriend’s car TOWED off the property when the parking lot is way too big to fill up on a Wednesday night. Now this will cost us $370. And to top it off they used a tow company from Gilbert that is by appointment only to make the charge even more. Needless to say we are going to California today and have to leave the car for 3 more days in the yard. They already involved the police and stupid is as stupid does but why take things to the next level and have the car towed at 2am for absolutely no reason other than to be mean & hurtful. The car was not in anyone’s way. Who was the employee that decided to do this and why do they have the freedom and ability to cause someone clearly dealing with their own issues more problems

we are top tier Hilton guests that just stayed a week here costing over 2k? We bring our own Dyson vacuum, the cleaning staff packed it up for us along with the cleaning supplies. The cleaning staff is amazing by the way. They were so kind to us after properly packing away our expensive things clearly caring about the situation showing how they understood and letting us use their carts to get our things back to the car. I wish everyone had as much class as the housekeeping crew!

We will never stay here again and I’m sure the feeling is mutual but damn, show some understanding it’s 2024 and the world is falling apart. You have homeless people on drugs everywhere around the nation so let’s be cruel and try to destroy a good persons life. Maybe you could have looked up the Hilton Honors account and seen all the places we stay and made a better judgement that represented a company that really does care about all people because without people like us there would be no Hilton. And if you know what it takes to become a top level Hilton rewards member you would expect the situation be handled with a little more care because at the end of the day we are all human and we all suffer.

Shame on Embassy Suites Tempe. You really have no idea the amount of pain our family has to go through now as a result of poor hotel procedures and mis management of power on the lower levels. Maybe you could adjust procedures accordingly to get the desired result without destroying someone’s life that is as close to already being destroyed as you can get. Way to kick us when we are already down. Way to look deeper into the situation without passing personal judgements.

This is a monumental failure that starts at the top and goes all the way down. How dare you give this kind of power to people that do not understand how to use it properly. Whoever called for the car to be removed WHEN THE POLICE WERE NICE ENOUGH TO LEAVE IT should be fired immediately. HOW DARE someone have the ability to add more problems to the issue that was already dealt with 8 hours prior. Do you really want that person working for this hotel? The more I think about it the more I am blown away at how someone could be so cruel and that is saying a lot considering the state of the country. Thanks for going above and beyond to try to destroy another human beings life that has absolutely zero affect on anyones life at all that works at the hotel. Give yourselves a big pat on the back for this one. Hi fives and gold...

Won't make that mistake again. I checked in after midnight on Wednesday night for five nights and checked out Monday morning. When I called the hotel directly to check on price and availability for the room, I was quoted a price of $109 and change for weeknights and $120 and change for weekend nights. I was informed that they would charge my card for an additional $100 for a deposit that would be credited back to my card after I checked out assuming no damage to the room or room service charges. This was all repeated when I arrived to check in and I was told that my card would be charged about $570 plus the refundable $100 totaling about $670. I agreed and other than not getting any room service even though I did request room service for Saturday, the hotel was nice enough and the staff was friendly enough. When I called to check on the status of the $100 credit that I never received, I was told that the $100 was never actually charged to my card and the $669.60 that was charged to my card was the correct amount for the room. This adds up to an average nightly cost of $133.92 which is significantly higher than I was quoted. I told the person I talked to that this is not the price that I was quoted and I was not pleased that I was being charged $100 more for my 5 night stay than what I was quoted and agreed to. The person indicated that they would look into it and get back with me. That was 2 weeks ago and I have not heard anything back. Lesson learned, I will certainly not stay with them again now that I know they cannot be trusted to honor their quoted rates. Added 11/05/2022... I think it is truly special that the response to my review when I say I was charged $100 more than I was quoted is to tell me that I am wrong and I was charged what I was quoted. I understand that there are taxes and fees and all sorts of hidden charges that sometimes get added on to a bill. That is why I was very specific when confirming the price that I was quoted would be the total amount that I would be charged including all taxes and fees and any other additional charges. So in a nut shell, your response is that I was actually charged the amount I was quoted. I am not a dishonest man sir, I was very specific when I called the hotel on the phone, and then again when I was standing in front of the desk in the lobby. I was most definitely not quoted over $130 per night average for that room! I am not interested in you telling me what the price I should have been quoted is, I stand by my original statement that you charged me $100 more than I was quoted and agreed to. That is why I didn't stay at your hotel the last time I was in Phoenix, and why I will not make the mistake of staying...

Let me start by saying, that I have been coming to this Hotel for probably 20 years, or more. Soon on arrival, a young lady was stand at the front desk, looking like she did not want to help anyone. (This is my perspective) There was an empty desk in the middle, then another agent at the third desk, helping guest check in. We were third in line. It took about 5-7 minutes for the lime to move, making us second, then first, after about 7-9 minutes. We waited about 10 more minutes, until Jocelyn looked at us. A couple of minutes after, she called us over. She did not greet us at all. We stood there for a long moment, before, she asked us if she could help us. Jocelyn then said, Without us replying to her question yet, ID, and credit card. To which I replied, You need my ID, and credit card? Yes. We had a couple of requests in our reservation, one was to be close to the pool. She checked us in solely on my ID, and never asked us any questions. The next thing she said, was, insert your credit card. After the transaction, she handed me an envelope with two room keys. I asked her if we were close to the pool? She said "No, we don't have any kings, only doubles. I said that was ok. She really made me feel like I was inconveniencing her, for asking for a closer room. She made us new keys, told us it was room 113. At that point, I was just ready to relax. The room was dusty, dead bugs in the window, and the AC was set on 68° when we got there, and never went below 76°. The curtains were in shreds and the bed closest to the window, was very slanted and uncomfortable. The pillows were even worse. I had to keep reminding myself, that we came for the pool, and the breakfast. Mini fridge, should probably be thrown out. All it did was ruin my meat, and my mayo. The pool was refreshing, and the afternoon reception was lively. We could not wait for Breakfast. Other than the staff, the breakfast was ok, at best. My wife, and son, both said that their omelettes were outstanding. My potatoes were cold, my eggs, had no taste, and the bacon was very overcooked. The highlight of breakfast for me, was that the cranberry juice was not watered down. There some good quality of the stay. The kitchen and bar staff appeared to go the extra mile. The Food and Beverage manager, Carlos, Was very concerned, and said he would like to address the issues we had All in all, we did enjoy the pool, and my son was happy. This is a quality Hotel, with a Quality Breakfast... 20 years ago. I don't think we will be going back. We have...
