I give this place 0 stars! I had the most ridiculous interaction with this hotel possible. My wife booked this hotel on 4/12 for Friday the 13th from Hotwire. We headed out on Friday morning and arrived at the hotel early in the morning long before check in time as we wanted to see if the had anything open we could check in early. Upon arriving at the hotel the place smelled of stale smoke and mold. The pictures on hotwire are a misrepresentation of the actual current state of the hotel.
My wife and brother-in-law had to use the bathroom and I decided to walk down the opposite way to look at the pool. The place was really run down and long overdue for repairs. There was water stains in the ceiling, wall paper and paneling coming off the wall and the pool was a bit scary due to the surroundings. I didnt feel like contracting any deseases so we all discussed that we were not staying at this hotel. After a grand total of 5 minutes being in the hotel the man behind the desk didnt even so much look in our direction but instead sat on a chair against the back wall and played on his phone.
We walked outside to call hotwire and cancel our resevation. They told me that they would be unable to give me my money back but would upgrade our room. I told them that I was uninterested in an upgrade and only wanted my money back. They told me there was nothing they could do for me and I would have to wait until after checkin.
I ended up having some business I needed to attend to outside Chicago so I didnt have all day to deal with it. I booked another hotel and did my business until later when I called the Baymont back. This is when the story gets really interesting.
I called the hotel to ask them to release the funds and to refund my money and to cancel my reservation. They once again told me that there was nothing they could do. I told them that they could and that it sounded as if they just didnt want to. To which they told me to have a nice day and hung up. After my call to the Baymont I decided to call up hotwire again and see where I could get. Upon giving them my itinerary number and having them put me on hold for about 20 mins they came back to tell me that they couldn't do anything for me either as get this....
They are claiming that I threatened to "beat them and shoot them". The hotel is claiming that they threatened to call the cops if I ever came back onto the property. This all happening within the less than 5 minutes we were there. Unbelievable. I asked about there security cameras and if they could pull them to see what happened and prove that the hotel is lying. They said that I would have to take it up with corporate, which was my next step.
I called corporate and explained the same situation and the only thing they said was that they had to "Call the Baymont" and "investigate". No idea where this will end up officially but I plan on calling the health department as well and in my opinion they need to be shut down. Unethical business practices and lying about customers combined with the state of the hotel is absolutely inexcusable. I strongly advise against staying at this hotel. I am a professional and would never conduct business as they are claiming. If you don't beleive me go ahead and take one look...
Read moreBaymont Inn & Suites in Calumet City on East End St is by far one of the most filthy, poorly managed, and totally inefficient hotels in which I have ever stayed. As soon as you walk through the door, it's obvious that no one knows how to use a vacuum cleaner very well since all the hallways, elevators, and rooms that I saw needed to be vacuumed, and the elevators reminded me of those in a low-income high rise building with crud and debris in the corners and in the seams between elevator walls and the floor. When entering my room, I found mold on the shower curtains and a dirty bath tub. I did ask for another room , and while the front desk receptionist did accommodate my wishes, I afterwards found still a number of other problems in that room, as well. Even though the shower curtains were clean, I was uncertain about the cleanliness of the tub before I took my bath. So, I thought if I just use a little body soap and a wash cloth and run around the inside of the tub, if it's truly clean nothing will come off. Well again, the white wash cloth became brown from the ring around the tub that I thought were just stains. Now if just body soap can clean a bath tub that much, then obviously, the maids could not have put much effort at all into cleaning the tubs with anything stronger. By the time I finished cleaning the bath tub, the late night receptionist had arrived and was not at all so accommodating as the first individual I had dealt with earlier. First, there was no blanket to be found anywhere for the bed. It seems that they expect you to be content in just covering with a top bed sheet only. When I called down to ask for a blanket after some discussion of where the missing blanket might be, the evening attendant seemed to become a little annoyed and told me that I would have to come down and get the blanket since she was alone and could not leave her desk. When I did, she offered no apology for my inconvenience and when I asked her for more towels, she stated that there were no others laundered at that time. Her attitude was totally unprofessional and she showed no regrets for my inconvenience. As if that was not enough, when I got back to my room, I discovered an earwig crawling on the ceiling. Since the ceilings are quite high, I did not bother to try and climb up and kill it thinking that since the ceiling was also heavily textured, the earwig was not going to go any place before I could check out the next morning. Well, boy! Was I ever wrong! When I arose at about 6:30 am the next morning and turned on the light, I discovered that the damned thing had crawled into bed with me! This time I did capture and kill it. While I would have taken another shower, of course, there were no more clean towels available for me to use. Still, even further, when I determined to press the pair of pants I intended to wear for that day, I realized that while there was an ironing board in the room, there was absolutely NO iron available in the tray on the wall where the iron was supposed to be. The cost of staying at Baymont Inn is cheaper monetarily than other hotels, but you will pay more in frustration that this slovenly managed hotel will cost you in the inconveniences and stress it produces You do get what...
Read moreSo I sadly used my Wyndham points to stay here because I thought it was a nice location and it would be a nice hotel to be at for a vacation. I did the research and I called ahead to make sure and somehow I was still duped by the people working here. When we arrived for check in I was told that the pool was actually closed and under construction even though that was one of the biggest selling points of why I chose this location in this hotel. We checked into our room and noticed that instead of being on the bed our pillows were on the floor beside the bed which I thought was a little odd but also they were out of towels and we only had two hand towels and one floor towel in the room but they were stained. I then notice that there was something weird over one of our smoke detector like a white cloth or something covering up one of them which I thought was odd and lastly there was still some trash left from the previous guests in the room just on the floor by the bed so needless to say I was disappointed with the fact that the hotel is not clean and we didn't have any clean towels either. I went down to let the front desk attendant know about the state of the room and the fact that we didn't have any towels and he just apologized for not being clean but told me that unfortunately there was no housekeeping in until the next morning and he had no way of giving me any towels for that night so I had to go out to a store and find a local Walmart to purchase my own towels to use in their hotel as well as our own shower gel because for a three night stay for two adults they only gave us one shower gel one lotion one shampoo and one conditioner. I asked if I could check out early but they told me that there was no early checkout and that I would still be charged the full amount. At this point I was very frustrated and just called into customer service because the front desk person also told me that the manager would not be there until the next day as well so there was no one I could speak to about my issues I was having. Overall the hotel was understaffed, not clean, and did not have the proper amenities for guests that are supposed to be included with the price...
