I reserved a room online with a king bed and hot tub in it. When we arrived, the receptionist wasn't very friendly and seemed to be under the influence while on the job. She couldn't answer questions we had about breakfast hours, amenities, etc. Just basic stuff you should know as the receptionist. We finally got our room keys, and the hotel cleaner walks by and asks what room we were going to. When we told her the number, she looked shocked and said "um are you sure she assigned you to that room?" And when we insisted mutliple times that's the room as it was written on our hotel key, she then asked for our key so she can go check the room first and make sure it's clean. We walked to the room all together and she peeked in slowly like she was going to see a dead person or something in there and exhaled a sigh of relief and said "yep, okay. It's clean." So that made us a little uncomfortable. Then we take our key back and go inside the room. It was NOT the one I had already reserved online. It had a king bed but didn't have the hot tub. It was just a standard shower. So, I went back to the front desk to cancel our reservation. The receptionist was upset and said "why?" with an attitude when I asked her if I could cancel our reservation. I kindly explained to her that it just wasn't the room that I already reserved. It was supposed to have a hot tub in it as well. But it's really no problem at all, we're just going to go somewhere else." And she replies with, "Well I don't know how you even reserved a room with a hot tub when we have no rooms that even have a working hot tub in them." So now the cleaner for the hotel overheard and asked why we were leaving already and the receptionist SPOKE FOR ME saying, "because she doesn't have a hot tub in her room" with an attitude. So I kindly said again that I reserved a room with a hot tub in it so that's what I expected to have. And the receptionist told me that you guys don't have any working hot tubs here so we're just deciding to go somewhere else now because I reserved a room WITH a hot tub in it." Then, THE CLEANER, corrected the receptionist and said , "um no. We DO have rooms with working hot tubs in them, they're just taken". Then proceeds to literally TEACH the receptionist stuff she should already know, as I'm just standing there.
This whole situation was just a mess.
The hotel cleaner was pretty nice, but the receptionist, who I believe is named Rosemary, definitely needs to be addressed.
Long story short, don't stay here. The place is not clean, the trash cans throughout the hotel were all overflowing, and they are not welcoming by no means. I only saw 2 employees there. The receptionist and 1 cleaner. I'm not sure if they have more staff but 1 cleaner cannot keep up on the whole place alone. I am highly discouraged because I didn't think I'd be falsely advertised or even treated that way by the receptionist when I was nothing but respectful.
All in all, definitely not a nice place to stay, even...
Read moremy girlfriend and i stayed here a few nights ago. even though we were hesitant because of the online rating and it being so tucked away in what we thought was a small town, we took a chance, and at first, i was really glad! i had no expectations when we pulled up, no assumptions, and the front desk attendant was very friendly. she was great about explaining how the jacuzzi worked and what breakfast would be like, etc.
the room itself, you could tell hadn't been updated in ... many years, but it was clean and the other staff around the hotel were polite and accommodating. when we got out to leave that night, we were even talking about how pleasantly surprised we were by the whole experience.
fast forward to the next day, when the receipt is emailed, and we're charged an extra $45?? so i call, and am told there was some blue left on one of the towels (from my girlfriend's hair dye, which isn't permanent, by the way, it can absolutely be bleached out) and that it's $45 to replace this single towel. to which i say, we've stayed in plenty of hotels (embassy suites, holiday inn, hampton inns, marriot, etc) and nowhere has ever charged for this. she said sorry, when the linens are unrecoverable, that's what we do.
but here's the thing:
B) $45 dollars for a single towel, especially one that's honestly, probably older than i am, is egregious. full stop. especially when you take into consideration the state of the rest of the hotel.
we didn't complain about the rust around the metal fixtures, about the wood peeling off the backs of the doors. we didn't complain about the floors that squeak under literally every step you take or the brown stuff that came out of the bath faucet. we didn't complain when the tension rod that held up the shower curtain, fell down when we draped a towel over it to dry. the experience offered by the staff had been awesome. it hadn't been a bad stay at all, and then this.
to say it soured the whole experience is an understatement.
to go from feeling like, i can't believe how underrated this place is - to sitting there after the fact, wondering if this is Red Roof Inn's way of treating queer people? because the charge itself is completely unbelievable. so, it's hard not to feel like, what's the message in this? is this your way of saying, we can't tell you not to come back because that's discrimination - so we'll stick you with this instead? because if that's the case, if you don't want gay people staying in your hotel, i get that now. i won't be back. message received and i'll be sure to pass the message along to all my gay friends, so they can avoid Red Roof Inns in their own cities.
super disappointed, guys. it's...
Read moreHorrible stay, will never stay again. There was a dog that wouldn't stop barking and howling for hours. I notified the front desk and she told me "I think I know which room it is". She came down and explained that the woman is at work. I asked to be switched to another room. She said it won't be the exact room and I said no problem. Then she said oh there's no rooms available. She said she would call the owner and the dog usually does this because the lady works. I said ok then you know it's an issue. I let her know I don't have a problem with any animals but the howling was going on for more than 3 hours before I even complained. She told me she would call the lady and tell her she needed to come immediately. I said ok thank you. About a half.hour later I went back to the desk and the girl informed me the lady would be home soon. I said ok no problem. I said now I'm not going to be able to stay here if the dog continuously keeps barking and I would need a refund. She then proceeds to tell me that she can't do that and then 2 seconds later she said well it wouldn't be refunded until 7-10 days. I told her I didn't care when the refund came but I would get one. She said she got ahold of the the lady and that the next time I stay at any Red Roof Inn I would get a discount. I told her I will never stay here again and to have a good night.. Very disappointing, Table and chair was dirty. The bathroom shower head hadn't been cleaned in god knows how long. I only stayed here because the HomeWood Suites...
