My wife and I just spent a long weekend for our anniversary at the Belfry House. The property is beautiful - they literally rebuilt it from the foundation up in the last four years. There are only 12 rooms, I believe, including a few larger suites (we stayed in their premium suite). Think of it as somewhere between a hotel and a B&B. The rooms and the whole property are beautiful and so comfortable. I travel frequently for work and stay at plenty of Ritz, Four Seasons and Relais properties. Belfry House definitely has a luxury feel to it, but also more like you are just home with good friends and family. In the evenings, guests are sitting on the porch or back patio, drinking a bottle of wine and enjoying the evening. Housekeeping is excellent and the rooms are spotless. Furniture and bedding are so comfortable, and bathroom floors are heated. Opus, the in-house restaurant- that chef is doing extraordinary things with a small staff. What a talent! The 7 course tasting menu and wine pairing are a fantastic experience. It’s not an attempt at culinary fireworks - much more restrained, clean, balanced, and accessible, but still with delightful surprises around every corner. Just go along for the ride - you won’t be disappointed. We also tried their more casual venue on the back patio, Bistro 67. We had dinner - soon they will also offer breakfast. They offer Brasserie classics, faithfully executed. Opus, Bistro 67, and the Belfry House are all reasonably-priced for the quality and level of luxury you get. And right next door is the Belfry Music Theatre, under the same ownership as the Belfry House, but really more of a community endeavor and not for profit. We caught a show and had a great night. It’s a fantastic venue, in an historic old church - so comfortable, great accoustics, great production engineering, and so fun to get to know the local community. And during intermission, they throw open the bay doors, and everyone goes out onto the lawn to eat chocolate chip cookies and drink wine in their Yeti sippy cups. Afterwards, go back to the lobby, meet the performers, and have an ice cream bar, because you’re in WISCONSIN! You can tell the whole community is behind the effort, are rightly proud of it, and are pitching in, together, to support it. Michael and Mary, the owners, are really generous souls who are building community and giving back, and are making something great in the process. Ann Marie, who will help you arrange your stay, is warm, thoughtful and will help you find out about all the great things to do in the Lake Geneva area - shopping, boating, Wisconsin supper clubs - it’s such a fun and enjoyable area. Love Wisconsin, love the people, and the Belfry House and Belfry Music Theatre are great examples of what makes the place and community such a great place to come and visit! We definitely want...
Read moreLove this little place! My husband and I stayed at the Belfry House for our 10 year anniversary.
Yes, we did drive past it initially because there is not a sign on the hotel but it shares the same parking lot with the Belfry Theatre so it was very easy to turn around. I actually felt silly missing it because it's right on the main road and very obvious to see. I do think the no sign issue that people have is very intentional which you realize once you walk in...This place is very unique and special.
The Belfry House is very cozy and reminds me of what an old world inn would feel like. It's quiet, elegant, pastries and coffee available all day and very welcoming. There are super comfy couches in the lobby area with a large fireplace.
We stayed in the deluxe room. It was very cozy and the bed was super comfortable. The fireplace was a nice touch along with the heated floors in the bathroom. There was complimentary bottles of water and soda in the fridge along with plenty of coffee. There was also a complimentary bottle of wine of your choosing with 3 options to choose from and an additional $20 charge (per bottle) if you drank the other bottles which I thought was thoughtful and reasonable.
It was very quiet which we really loved.
The property is beautiful and not too far from Lake Geneva.
Our favorite part was dining at Opus which was an amazing experience and I highly recommend!
The Belfry House is a special place and it is obvious there has been a lot of thought and care in making this place the way it is.
We will definitely be staying and dining at Opus again!
Thank you for the wonderful experience and making our 10 year...
Read moreMy wife and I just returned from a 1-night getaway at BH - a beautiful little boutique hotel. The front desk was very friendly and instructive. Our particular room opened to the outside (code lock and dead bolt) on the first floor and a view of a very well kept courtyard. Each room has two chairs and a small table outside the door which was nice for morning coffee (gratis in lobby, along w 2 gourmet muffins). The room and bathroom were extremely clean. Clearly, a lot of attention was paid to detail in the decorating throughout the hotel. In the room, a small bottle of wine, granola bars, soft drinks in the mini fridge (all gratis), as well as some chocolates and cookies with a handwritten note welcoming us for our anniversary. The bathroom was simple and equally nice, with a very large walk-in shower with Kohler dual rain/hand held shower heads. Fireplace was lovely. We Ubered back and forth to downtown Lake Geneva for a $25 fare/10min (each way). Parking does appear to be very limited, although it was not a problem during our stay. They have a small musical venue (like a large 1-room schoolhouse) a stone’s throw from the hotel. The only con/suggestion: “smooth jazz” played throughout the hotel during regular hours, including outside the rooms starting at 9am. For a place that is music-themed, it was brutal (sorry, Kenny G fans). Overall, I’d definitely recommend BH if you don’t mind having to drive/Uber everywhere and would prefer an elegant boutique hotel experience over paying the same (or a lot more) for a large, crowded, mediocre hotel downtown...
