Mattress Firm Merrick — Hotel in Town of Hempstead

I purchased a TemperPedic mattress at the Merrick store several weeks ago. At my request, I just received delivery only to find that I had a FROZEN mattress delivered today. Laying on this mattress is as good as laying on my tile floor at the moment. Upon delivery, the delivery person told me that it might defrost in 4-6 hours, but really I should expect it will take 1-2 days. Seriously....am I really talking about a mattress here? FROZEN! That's crazy. Do I need to use my hairdryer to try and thaw it out????? Had I been told, I might have arranged to have kept my old mattress until such time that my new mattress was at a temperature acceptable for me to sleep on.

I also purchased a mattress protector from the store. My bad. $219 later I found out I received what looks like a fitted sheet. Isn't the point of a mattress protector to protect the ENTIRE mattress? It needs to be zipped! I should have gone to Walmart and purchased one there for probably $40-$50. Lesson learned.

When I called the store to ask to speak to my salesperson, I was told he was on vacation for several weeks. Was that actually code for he no longer works there? Who knows. So I spoke to the person who answered the phone and inquired as to why I had a frozen mattress. He told me that this is what happens in cold weather and he was sorry that my salesperson didn't alert me to that fact prior to delivery....but he was on vacation. Soooo, what happens when your salesperson is on a long vacation, or may not actually work there any longer? NOTHING! No one calls you and there is no customer service.

Purchasing a mattress is a commodity item. They are all the same and price and customer service are the differentiating factors. Mattress Firm prices are no better than anyone else's and clearly their customer service stinks so I will NEVER purchase another item at their store again. There are certainly endless options for me to purchase a mattress someplace else. ...

I went with my sister's husband to get him a mattress. We met Dylan and Randy. Mattress quickly chosen for him, based on price, firmness and an adjustable frame. Both Dylan and Randy were a wealth of information. Did not rush him. Showed him similar mattresses in his price point range. So he made a selection. Very satisfied. Also got him an interest free deferred payment plan. I have been wanting a new mattress for the last two years. I will just say life got in the way. He got me the best price and available discounts that would apply to the purchase. He has arranged delivery to my convenience and will deal with any problems. I really don't expect any.
