Stayed at the Roosevelt Inn overnight to break up a long travel day and it was fantastic! The room was spacious, very clean, and check in was a breeze. In the morning there's complementary continental breakfast with coffee, tea, cereals, muffins, bagels, and fruit. All the food was fresh and there was plenty available. Would definitely recommend the Roosevelt Inn if you find yourself in the area

Clean rooms and friendly staff. Only a few minor complaints. The water is way too hot, I think you could cook a potato with the tap water. The breakfast selection was a little bit small and I wish it was open before 7:00 so we could hit the road a little sooner.

Great staff and stay….. only thing I would say is it hard to see the sign at night no lights on it drove by it a few times while staying

This place is better than expected and it has excellent ways of managing Covid. My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in September 2020 during the Covid pandemic. Prior to the pandemic we travelled on vacation by airplane approx. 4 times a year, but due to Covid we are reduced to taking regional road trips in the car. Normally in the past we chose hotels such as Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, Comfort Inn, etc., usually choosing whichever building appeared to be the newest. But during the pandemic I came up with the idea of choosing a different type of hotel, a "motor inn" where the car pulls right up to the room, meaning there is no elevator to use and no corridors to walk. This seems safer. And in this case, it worked out great, because there was also no registration and no office to visit. I made my reservation over the phone because the hotel's online reservation system did not seem to be up to normal standards. Over the phone the staff took my credit card number and held a deposit. They explained that my room key will be in a realtor lock-box hanging from the doorknob, and they sent me a code to the lock-box by email, a day prior to my visit. Good ideas! Kudos to the management. I was really pleased. Getting into the room was going to be a problem because i didn't know how to handle the realtor lock-box, but as I was wrestling with it, after 30 seconds a voice rang out, telling me how to get the key out ... it was the manager talking to me, peering out from her door. Thanks.. Now I got it. We were pleased with the room. This was our first hotel visit since the pandemic hit, and we started out by spending 15 minutes wiping all the surfaces in the room with our Lysol and paper towels. We brought our own cleaning supplies. The management had already put the TV remote into a clear plastic wrap, but I cleaned the wrap, too. The room was good-sized, and just as good as a Comfort Inn except maybe the bathroom was a tiny bit below that standard because there was little or no storage spaces available in the bathroom to put your toiletry bags. The only other drawback to the room was that it could have used some more color or some more wall art. Everything was beige. But the decor was somewhat classy and was better than expected, and it was nice. The mattresses are very good. My wife commented on getting very good sleep and she really liked the mattress. She was super pleased with the motel. Shortly after arrival I knocked on the manager's door and requested some more decaf coffee for the in-room Keurig. The manager provided it, no problem. The room has a mini fridge that worked well and the heater worked well (wall unit was not too noisy). The TV is very good. There is no microwave in the room. We paid about $104 per night including taxes and fees, and I think this place is a great value for the money. Highly recommended. Now we will take more road trips using motor inns, but the inns might not be as good as...

Wow! What an exceptional stay. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Me? I'm a Hampton Inn kind of guy. I have certain expectations when staying at a mid-priced hotel and I like to stick with my brand. However, in planning our visit to the Roosevelt Home and Val-Kill, we couldn't find a Hampton Inn within a reasonable distance.

Based on the amount of extremely favorable reviews we found, we decided to try the Roosevelt Inn. We booked it several months in advance and chose a room on the upper floor.

We arrived after 3 pm for check-in. Stepping into a small office we were greeted by Teddy the resident's dog, who was such a sweet, loving animal who we enjoyed spending a little time with. The woman at the desk was very nice, gave us our keys, and informed us about the breakfast in the Inn's Coffee Shop.

Upon opening the door to our room, my girlfriend and I were equally impressed. The room was immaculate. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was fairly large with soap and lotions provided. There was an armoire to hang clothes and a little nook with a Keurig coffee maker and a selection of brews. There was a small flat-screen TV on the wall with plenty of channels via Direct TV, though during our particular stay, there were a lot of errors on the channels due to distant rain affecting the dish signal.

We had a great night's sleep with no noise from adjoining rooms or the parking lot.

We were the first to try the Coffee Shop shortly after 7 am. We were delighted to find a selection of fresh donuts, croissants, and muffins from Dunkin' Donuts. There were also fresh bagels, a toaster, and toppings. A small selection of cereal and plenty of coffee were also made available. The decor in the Coffee Shop was very retro and though signage advised you not to sit in the stools, there were a few tables where you could sit and enjoy your breakfast.

I must say, the Roosevelt Inn is the best-kept secret in the area. It's very inexpensive to stay here compared to Hampton Inn. And, to be honest, I found the laid-back feel of this place to be more inviting than the chain hotel. It's clean, quiet and has a wonderful continental breakfast in a really cool Coffee Shop. It made a very impactful positive impression on both of us. We look forward to...

We would not stay here again. Let me start with the positives: the location is great and the staff are super nice. But the rooms are dingy. The A/C is wall units and were not up to the task. When they are running you're blasted with freezing cold air, when they stop, you're sweating hot. So don't visit during the heat of the summer. The WiFi situation was extremely inconvenient. We had been warned by both the hotel and reviews that they choke down the WiFi. Our first night there was no issue, but for the rest of the visit it barely worked. It didn't "choke down," it threw us offline completely. Even if we only had one computer turned on, we were still thrown offline. This was very problematic as we were trying to make plans with another couple and needed to access the internet. The internet even didn't work for us at 4 a.m., which is a problem is you are trying to do any travel planning. Finally, if your room is on the second floor there are no elevators (we had been warned of this by other reviewers but wanted to reiterate that). Also, rooms are not serviced during your stay so be aware you will need to make your own beds and tidy your own room. The breakfast is very simple and basic, the coffee was weak but there's a coffee kiosk walking distance from the inn called Ready Stop which I highly recommend and they open at 5 a.m. The A/C situation made sleeping very uncomfortable but don't expect to be able to doomscroll to lull yourself...
