I first came to Mt Knoll as a young child with my family back in the mid 1960's. We rented a cottage every summer for about 10 years. We have many great memories of our summers at Lake George. After getting married and starting a family I wanted to create those same type of memories with my children. I first took my family to Mt Knoll in 1992 and have not missed a summer since (21 years and counting). Both of my sisters as well as my parents come the same week (we take three cottages) and the whole family gets to spend the week together at the lake. The view of the mountains is breathtaking! One of the best features of Mt Knoll is the large beach and the shallow swimming area; ideal for small children. With only 10 cottages on the property the beach and swim areas are never crowded. They have kayaks, rowboats, shuffleboard, ping pong, volleyball, a jungle gym, swings and a large lawn where we play bocce, kickball, wiffle ball and Frisbee. There is nothing better than a dip in the lake after an early morning walk or an afternoon volleyball game. At night we cook hot dogs and marshmallows lakeside by the fire. We look forward to seeing the same families return year after year. Lake George Village is only 3 miles to the south; be sure to get an ice cream from Fat Willies after mini golf or go carts. Bolton Landing is only 10 minutes to the north; be sure to visit Dave's Market in the morning if you are looking for a good bakery and the Algonquin for lunch or dinner on the lake. We have seen three generations of the same family own the property. Michael, the current owner, lives on the property and takes exceptional care of every guest as well as the cottages, the grounds and the beach area. He is always accessible, extremely accomodating and very friendly. On the day we leave my daughters start a countdown to the day we return. Thank you to the Chimiak family for sharing Mt Knoll with us for all...

Read moreWe are just back from a 8 night stay at Mt. Knoll. We've been going with our young family for a few years and this was the best stay we've had. A nice property with lake views and easy lake access via a good sized sandy beach. Our cabin was "up the hill" and was a 90 second walk to the water. Great for kids...because they always forget something or need to use the bathroom! ||||Our 8 year old son had a blast as usual...in and out of the water, but also made a nice group of friends while we were there. Our 2 year old daughter loved digging in the sand on the nice clean beach that was raked each morning. They alos loved running around the large lawn area, using the swings and trying to figure out how to play the throw-back shuffle board game:)||||The log cabin we stayed in was great...met our needs and had a good amount of space. A large screened in porch was great for games with the kids and a relaxing spot for the parents after our kids hit the hay.||||Our cabin, and all of them, are modest and a bit of a throw back. Yes they have AC and flat screen TVs, but the furnishings are a bit dated:) They are clean and provide a full kitchen and outdoor grills and picnic areas. Except for the rainy day you aren't going to spend much time sitting around the cabin.||||Overall top ratings for the location, the view, the amenities, the owner (always there to help...from cleaning the grill to starting a fire on the beach...) and the people! It's a family place and the other guests have always been great. The property is big enough to do your own thing and then to gather with friends on the beach or for evening sparklers and smores with the other kids.||||The different cabins are each a bit unique so I can't speak to each of them. If you are looking for the most modern furnishings, you won't find them here, but for a clean comfortbale place with good people and a great location it...
