Given this place a chance on three short stays now, and while I appreciate that they are trying to maintain the property, I don’t think the price is justifiable for the quality of this hotel.
All Lake George area hotels are rustic and older style motels, but this one is a little too basic and lacking in upgrades or maintenance to be over $200 a night- even if you are paying for the prime location.
The beds and linens are absolutely disgusting. I appreciate the clean bleach smell, but the sheets are so pitted and balled it makes my skin itch, the pillows were maybe good 20 years ago, and the beds are less comfortable than some tent floors I’ve slept on.
I don’t mind the small bathrooms, but the mold stains on the tiles made me uncomfortable. I shouldn’t have to wear shoes into a hotel room shower- that’s for campgrounds.
I get why there’s no housekeeping this year, but a recycling bin directly outside our door was overflowing for all three days and never changed.
There’s also go so few thoughtful additions or amenities it really eats into your comfort. The small fridge is just on the floor, there’s no little table to rest a bag of groceries or try and set up a bowl of cereal on or something. No shelves or hooks to hang a towel or put your toiletries or items you need access to- just one dresser and the floor. And the chairs in front of your room are very old cheap plastic things. At least spend $10 on new patio chairs so maybe you can sit comfortably in front of your room.
It’s nice that they offer nightly rates, and their beach dock is lovely. Also love the flat property- no steep hill to the beach.
If you can’t find another place or specifically need a spot that’s flat and want a pool too- maybe stay here. We tried to make do with the basic accommodations by brining our own sheet and towels this time, but even coming prepared the quality of the room just didn’t make up for the price for us, lake...
Read moreMy husband and I just returned from our second stay at the Olympian Village Motel and I felt compelled to give this hidden gem a five-star review, which I meant to do last Summer. We are of a certain age and have no children but I think there is something here for everyone. It is a quaint and rustic property with one, two and three bedroom suites and all look clean and well-kept. It contains a large pool, a recreation area with video games, etc., a picnic area with grills, a dock and a roped-in lake area for swimming. You can walk across the street to a great deli/store, Up North and get breakfast each morning and also a restaurant, Diamond Point Grille. This is ideal if you don’t want to drive to Lake George Village, which is a few miles away. It’s also located conveniently close to Bolton Landing, another tourist destination that contains shops and restaurants. The only group I could imagine might not fit in here would be young partiers who want to stay up all night and get loud, as it’s not really that type of place. However, I had a group of young people staying next door and I didn’t hear anything late at night. Wendy, the Motel Manager, goes out of her way to help make your stay memorable and comfortable. She is helpful and informative regarding the area and tries to accommodate any needs you might have. I really can’t praise her enough for her personality and work ethic. Lastly, I would remind everyone to bring bug spray as this is the Mountains and they’re out there but I have never seen an insect in the rooms. In summation, I highly recommend this property as a go-to when in...
Read moreIf anyone is looking to stay in the Lake George area, I highly recommend Olympian Village Resort. It's an old motel and they've renovated the rooms, and many are suites. We booked a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom suite, and I cannot say enough good things about this place. It was so great for all 4 kids to have their own beds, and for my husband and I to have our own master bed/bath suite. The rooms were all done in pine, which made it feel like we were staying in a cottage - and all very clean, too. Full kitchen (stove, oven, microwave, fridge), big dining table, and living room area. The pool is incredible - really big, and clean, and with a view of the lake - just gorgeous. It was actually tough to get the kids to go do anything, because they just wanted to hang out at the pool all the time. There's a small beachfront area, and you could swim there, but we chose to drive down the road to a sandy beach in Bolton Landing. But we did have lunch there one day, and I spent a little time there every morning, just enjoying the peace and quiet. The location is ideal, as well - situated right between Lake George Village and Bolton Landing. And the owner was readily available anytime we needed anything. On top of all that, the price was really reasonable - I did a ton of research, and we got way more for our money than we would have staying at some of the other hotels in the area. If we go back to Lake George anytime in the near future, we'd probably stay...
