The owners of the Belva Lockwood Inn have utterly mastered the art of hospitality. We were completely blown away at every turn of our stay! Their small town, country lifestyle, puts the big city "hospitality" to shame. By the time we checked out, I felt like they were my favorite aunt and uncle and I couldn't wait to visit again! When I initially called to book, I was considering booking two rooms so my kids (3 & 2) would have a bed to sleep in. Ike said he'd look around and see if one of the neighbors had a couple pack n' plays I could use so I wouldn't have to book the extra room. No one does that unless they care about people more than they care about money!! We ended up staying in the Gorman Suite and the kids had pack n' plays in the sitting room (which saved us a ton of money on our lodging). We felt so cared about! During our stay I had a mishap where my luggage fell over in the hallway and the handle made a gash in the paint. I was mortified. I showed them the damage and offered to pay for it. They waved it off and said it was no big deal. I tried insisting, but they wouldn't let me pay for it. Throughout my stay they were super helpful at recommending places to visit and places to eat. They ended up recommending MJ's Bar and Restaurant down the road. We got their chicken noodle soup, their clam chowder, and some grilled bread for dipping. It was beyond heavenly. There was love in every bite! The last night of our stay at the Inn, we told them we were going to be checking out super early the next morning and they offered to bring our breakfast early and have it in a to-go bag so we could eat it on the road. Once again, their thoughtfulness totally blew me away! I just can't say enough good things about them. As for the house itself, its located across the street from the Susquehanna River and is absolutely gorgeous! I loved learning about it's rich 150 year history from the booklet in our room, the pictures around the house, and the owners themselves. This was by far one of the nicest places we've ever stayed at! This Inn is hidden gem and a MUST-STAY if you're traveling to or through southern New York! We give the Belva Lockwood...
Read moreTireless, smart and hip owners make for impressive innkeepers and a memorable time at this bed and breakfast. Truthfully, Ike and Julie strike a rare balance of being both posh and laidback, detail-oriented and generous that is difficult to find. (Hopefully they don’t find this comment too intrusive. lol)
The house has been thoughtfully renovated, and yet historic details are preserved without ever sacrificing their guests’ comfort. The decor is a feast for any history lovers’ eyes and it just oozes of Owego’s story. But my favorite details lie not in the surround sound speakers or the vaporizers and impeccably clean baseboards, but in the fact that it was important to them to reinvest in their own community: cookies from a local confectionary, art from a nearby artist, historical photos of the community’s buildings, detailed notes in local places to dine, etc. We love it here!
We’ve probably stayed at over 80 b&bs around the world... and it’s clear to us Julie and Ike curated their most favorite details from the best of their own travels into Belva. We’re delighted to have found Belva Lockwood Inn and her owners. This place will probably hold a top spot in our memory for a long while to come and we don’t even have to travel far for this level of experience. Mind blown.
Thanks for the history lesson and generous...

Owned and operated by a young couple absolutely intent on making our stay memorable and luxurious. The well-stocked bar, barista cocktail machine, keg and long wooden bar (a piano forte was its base and inspiration!) is a lovely place to relax and soak in the atmosphere. The Lovelass room was comfortable and had just what we needed. The complimentary and also well-stocked snack bar was right outside our room. Everything was immaculate! A breakfast picnic basket is delivered outside your room door and it's contents were beautifully styled, the fresh fruit carefully chosen and prepared, the scones were out of this world, and the warm spinach quiche perfectly cooked and melt-in-your-mouth delicious! What a cozy way to start the day! I sincerely wish Matt and Brie every success! They certainly deserve it and they are working hard to achieve it. Be sure to spend some time here if you are ever even near this area, Owego NY, in the Finger Lakes region. Oh, and look up the namesake of this Inn, Belva Lockwood. You will be dumbfounded that you never heard of this...
