I stayed for one night with a friend and could not be more pleased at the general ambience and quality of service we received at Hotel Tivoli. We chose a room with two twin beds. At first we were just blown away by the unorthodox interior design of the hotel; it felt very meticulous and intentional, every corner of the place had me questioning “who designed this? whose this artist/photographer? who made this? who put this here? amazing!” The manager Helene made sure that we were comfortable with our stay all the way up to our check out and I wish I could give more in return for the wonderful experience. The rest of Tivoli is within walking distance and has access to an array of locally owned shops. To anyone looking for a stay in upper Hudson Valley, this is the perfect place to stay if you want a dash of creative flair and a cozy environment. Room: 5/5 Service:5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Bathroom: 5/5 Complementary Breakfast: 5/5 General Rating: 5/5

If I could leave six stars I would. My partner and I had a bad experience with a bad RB&B and contacted the hotel in the middle of the night. The staff responded to us first thing and the morning and were incredibly sympathetic and accommodating. We were traveling with our dog, the pet fee was so small in comparison to most hotels and the entire experience was just like an impromptu perfect honeymoon. The decor of the hotel is beautiful. There is so much personality to the place and everything is just the best quality. From the chocolate bar and mater bottle in the room to the coffee and tea at the lobby. The entire hotel is so clean and well kept, how kind and attentive the entire staff was is above any expectation. We (and our dog) felt so welcomed, the only hard part was checking out because we didn’t want to leave. This 3 stars hotel runs circles in so many 5 star hotels. It really is a gem

Genuine. Come here to have lovely interactions with kind humans. Also enjoy the delicious food and the many niceties such as a handwritten note, complementary water chocolate and chips, and a real key to your room. Don’t come here if you want an anonymous automated non-experience.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Tivoli a couple of years ago when we were attending an event at the Basilica on the Hudson. We had such a wonderful time three years ago we decided to book again for our fourth wedding anniversary.||Unfortunately, this time our experience was very different. ||First off, we were surprised that when we arrived no one even acknowledged our anniversary even though we had mentioned it when we made our reservation. I would have thought that a hotel of this caliber would have done something even, just a hand written note, flowers in the room, small bottle of cheap prosecco just something would have been nice. Last time we stayed we received a welcome note for even staying just one night.||The hotel staff never acknowledged our anniversary in any way. ||The only person was the hostess at the restaurant who did place a candle in our dessert at the end of our dinner on our second night. ||||When we came down for breakfast, It seemed the hostess/ manager hovered over us like we were an imposition. The energy seemed resentful and almost scolding We were here in Tivoli to relax and to get away from the city and this was somewhat unnerving and unnecessary. Additionally, as we seemed to be rushed out by her we assumed that the breakfast room was needed for brunch service in the restaurant however when we came down later that morning, and Sunday as well , this room was unseated and unneeded making it all the more frustrating.||When we went to checkout, I went to the office to pay the balance of our stay and was informed that my wife’s card had already been charged. I wanted to pay the balance with a different card and was told that this would not be possible as the original card had already been processed. It is a shame that my wife had to go back down to the office to request this card switch again and that same woman kept arguing that this was an automatic charge and then finally after seeming so annoyed she somehow was able to reverse the charge. This whole interaction left my wife in tears on the day of our anniversary. This episode was actually the worst part of our stay and we had to leave the hotel feeling very unwelcome and upset . ||In reviewing our bill we noticed we were charged $32 ($16 per night) as a gratuity for house cleaning. This may be a hotel policy but we were never made aware of the policy in booking. They took fivr minutes to remake our bed and the toiletries are excellent  however with no turn down service, or anything else this seems excessive for what we received. ||All in all the level of hospitality and friendliness were really disappointing.||Additionally we submitted a letter outlining our issues to hotel management and received no response. ||||Things have changed here and not for the better. There are better & cheaper options...

Pretentious. In nice old structure, rooms decorated with miscellanea of worn thrift store furniture of radically mixed periods, and in our small room with double bed, no desk, table, or chest of drawers, neither of which one seems appropriate to what they appear to be offering -- stylishly vintage place, well-preserved vintage furniture (customary in similarly aged B&Bs) - so the place seems overpriced. (Especially since there is only a $10/night additional charge for a spacious room and queen bed , but which would also be too much $$.) Upstairs sitting area stylishly furnished. ||And room prices are posted no where online -- not even on their own website -- which makes one feel that when you call for the price they determine it by your area code, voice, accent, and manner of speaking. They can charge this because there are so few independent hotels or B&Bs in the area that are not generic corporate chains, but still. . . The experience was balanced by nice view of trees from room, delicious and abundant breakfast on the front porch and exceptionally gracious and helpful...
