My response/edit : I can assure you that this is a real review and I am dead serious about it. I was there on the afternoon of August 4. I ordered an ice cream cone consisting of One scoop chocolate, one scoop vanilla. I was with my 10-year-old son. The lady behind the counter was an individual who had brown hair possibly between the ages of 21 to 24 and had tattoos. I was very pleasant to her. She was not pleasant to me even in front of my child, when I gave her the cash for my order, she returned my change and the change at my hand in the most rude manner. This was done in front of my 10 year old son. That made it insulting. I have loved the town of Tivoli for well over 20 years and I felt that this was a very unfortunate experience. I do not feel that I should remove my bad review because I think it is well deserved. If any of my employees ever through the change at a customers, I would fire them immediately. This is extremely disrespectful and discourteous. It is even worse when you do it in front of a person‘s child , I cannot in good conscience return to your establishment. I am sure you as the owner are a good person and I am not insulting you directly yet this was an extremely unpleasant experience for me. I went there with my child and we were really excited to give this place a try. I was appalled by the lack of professional behavior the person behind the counter exuded hostility, and did not seem to like their job. After I paid for the ice cream, she practically threw the money at my hand. Used to be a restaurant manager and I’ve taught every single one of my employees how to treat all human beings with respect and dignity. I did not receive that at this establishment. Not only why I never go back. I will make sure that anybody I talk to won’t go there either. They need...
Read moreI would give 100 stars if I could. Every single time is a revelation. They always have a wonderful combo of standard and unusual flavors. Their darkest chocolate is so rich and creamy (and vegan!). They always use fresh, local ingredients and it shows. Their fruit labne fro-yos are a lovely combo of tart and sweet. They have the freshest-tasting sorbets. You can get two flavors in even the smallest size and you can sample as many as you'd like. There are only about 10 flavors at a time, which is just the right amount to offer variety without causing choice fatigue. It's a really good thing I'm only in the area one month per year, otherwise I'd be broke from coming here every day (and it'd...
Read moreOnce the perfect ice cream. Fortune's appears to have abandoned their seasonal, fresh ingredient approach, for a product now full of stabilizers. We used to love their inventive flavors, but noticed this year that the flavors lacked the freshness, and that the ice cream has a weird sticky and unnatural mouthfeel. It left us feeling bloated.
After looking at the labels, the pints now contain carrageenan, mono diglycerides (often derived from gmo soy that contains trans fats) and guar gum. It's listed as "natural" stabilizers, but these are highly processed ingredients. These ingredients have been linked to cancer, digestive issues and other auto-immune disorders. Shame on...
