I loved my first order of yarn from Fabulous for my Wild Thing KAL shawl soo much that I ordered more yarn today. Last time I called and Rochelle helped me with color selection, today I used the online chat and Rochelle was a tremendous help with colors again. Because I like to do a diverse range of colors and something different my second shawl is going to be Steampunk inspired and without Rochelleās help it wouldnāt be happening. I wanted color 144 because of the grays and browns and thought color 264 would be good but showed no stock and I was stumped on the third color because you have to be careful tone wise in the grays and browns because if your off on warm or cool base you might as well not cast on. Rochelle liked my choice of 144, she found a skein of 264 which she agreed it was a good color choice and then she found 257 a pale taupe which didnāt have a color card but was exactly what was needed to keep the shawl from being too dark and giving it the pop of color needed. I even ordered an extra skein of the 144 and Wild Thing so both shawls can be a little larger. Rochelle and Judy at Fabulous really rock the customer service and take such great care of me. I worked in retail as a manager many years ago and my husband is a Customer Service Supervisor at the company he has worked at for 24 years handling very complicated calls so we know about customer service and appreciate the people who give such excellent service. As super busy as these ladies must be now especially with all the KAL questions it really is special to receive this level of customer service to help me find just the right colors for what I wanted to do. Fabulous Yarn has employees to be very proud of and when I can treat myself to special yarns this is where I will go. Canāt wait to see this color combination, even thinking of maybe using some unusual beads when I make this second shawl and thank you again Rochelle for making this happen! Okay, I have to give Ida a shout out for the same excellent customer service I have received from Judy and Rochelle at Fabulous. Sunday I had a yarn question and she went above and beyond to answer my question plus we had a fun and personable chat on line. When I used to go to my LYS I never received this level of excellent customer service so it really is a joy to shop with them and I know they will do their best to help with my questions. I also have to say that after she helped me with initial question and please donāt think Iām committing sacrilege on an Artyarns KAL but I asked about Zen Garden yarns because I call knitting my Zen meditation as I also do Mindfulness mediation, my Pinterest knitting board is named:Knitting my journey to Zen by learning how to use pointed sticks with yarn, even with DPNs, yarn barfs and of course frogging. The name intrigued me and Ida was helpful with my questions so I know that whatever I have an interest in purchasing from their shop I will receive help with it in a knowledgeable and personable way. I canāt speak for others but I really think this is wonderful and ladies once again you rock with your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm torn. I don't normally write reviews, but I feel slighted in my last transaction with Fabulous Yarn. I've made several online purchases with them since 2015, but my last two orders had issues with them not having updated their stock and therefore, not being immediately able to fulfill my order.
The earlier error ended up being resolved with them kindly providing a generous discount on a handful of skeins, which in turn, gave me a positive reason to continue purchasing from them. It was good business practice, in my opinion, and gave me confidence in continuing purchasing from them.
This most recent error, they were unwilling to provide the same discount on my handful of skeins (five, to be exact), stating that the discount I requested as compensation could only have been applied "at the time of purchase" or if I had "orders over [$]1,000 with our discount code." It would have cost them about $4.70, beyond their nearly everyday (I say "nearly" because they send vouchers for an extra 5% off as well as offer that extra if one signs up for their emails) discount, with my request.
Interesting how that first error six months prior yielded a quick and conciliatory outcome. This second error yielded a blunt and cookie-cutter/auto-response-style of a refund, and I had to look over my prior email order to see if they were still sending me (and what they were charging me for) the one skein I'd asked for. "Let us know if there is anything else we can do for you, and thanks for shopping FAB!"
I'm sad, as this left me feeling as if I am of no value to them as a repeat customer. Yes, they have good discounts, but I have a difficult time wanting to support a business who I feel doesn't support their customers. I don't feel I was asking too much, but hey, it's all relative, I suppose. Most likely, I'll occasionally purchase from them because I have to, but I'll mostly stick with the other places that also offer up the same discounts (three places offer up the same yarns at the same discounts, but they often have different color...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFound this place this weekend. Have been in upstate New York a few times, for Sheep & Wool festivals, and a few other things, and had never seen, or heard of, Fabulous Yarns. This time, on our drive back from the antique motorcycle show and swap meet, my DH noticed a tiny road side sign advertising this store, and we figured, might as well check it out we donāt get here often.
I am SO glad we did. Tiny little shop, tucked away on a quaint little street. Adorable from the outside. Show room is small, but so well organized and with such gorgeous, pretty, pettable yarns. The two women working there were both great. The first checked in quickly and then gave us time to browse and investigate without feeling like we were a bother, or watching over our shoulder. I find that when I walk into a yarn shop, not looking like a āyarnyā, I sometimes get treated poorly; this particular day I was DEFINITELY dressed for an outdoor motorcycle show. However, they still treated me incredibly well.
I found myself gravitating to all my old favorites, but they had SO many, really gorgeous yarns, that I had never gotten to touch or try before. I ended up talking myself into a GORGEOUS Art yarns shawl kit with amazing jewel tones. As well as a really amazing skein of Zen Garden serenity glitter sock.
They were incredibly kind and accommodating as they checked me out as well. I will be highly recommending them to others, and probably shopping online with...
