We rented this room for one night for $228, for the AL and Vanderbilt game #204 (today I notice the price is $45 a night) Thankfully I brought sheets and a blankets with us. I called at 8am to ask about if we could check in early and was told no problem you can arrive anytime today. Arrived around 1pm, and the front desk advised my husband our smoking room (ummm we donât smoke, well sorry thatâs all we have ) was not cleaned so can we wait ? After about 30 min at check in they seemed to work it out and we got our key. We enter to the strongest smell of cigarettes, similar to a bar. The TV playing an info mercial very loudly. No electric outlets on both sides of the bed worked. We tried remotes for the TV both missing backs so batteries fall out. Neither remote worked and the insignia brand TV had no buttons. After much troubleshooting we called the front desk who sent help immediately. He came in and told us we canât use top row of surge protector outlets. Only bottomâŚ..he unplugged it and plugged it back in, then informing us this is the only channel. Pillow cases had holes, stains and looked disgusting. We layed our sheet over the comforter, made a pillow out of a stack of clothes , and used our own blanket. The AC rattled and struggled through the night. The outside of it looks to have never been cleaned. As soon as the sun came up we left. Walls disgusting, no breakfast and the smell was the worstâŚâŚfelt like we had a nasty bed inside a bar. Dead roach in bathroom in the morning, we surely didnât shower there. This is a very large hotel - 228 a night for all these roomsâŚâŚReviews go back years and years of nastiness. Price gouging for football season at...
Read moreWe stayed graduation weekend for University of Alabama. Long story, but not our first choice. Mostly chosen due to location and availability. The front desk staff are incredibly nice and accomodating. The location was perfect. 10-13 minute drive to campus and our daughter's apartment. The beds were comfortable, but we were a little put off by the old and outdated bed spreads. One had a cigarette burn (our room was supposed to be non-smoking). The floor is bare floor, no carpet. The sinks and bathroom were outdated and old. After our first day we noticed a strong skunk like odor from the bathroom. I requested a room freshener at the front desk and they actually gave me one and said we could keep it in the room. (Kudos to the staff). Not sure exactly what the smell was but I sprayed the shower curtain, bathroom floor, curtains in the room, etc. And it helped. The shower water was amazingly hot and the best feature of the room. There is free wifi and a nice sized TV. The 2 stars are for the outdated room and false advertising of a pool. The pool is supposedly under construction?? I was so excited to bring a swimsuit to Alabama. Not having a pool was a letdown in 88° heat. Breakfast had coffee, milk in a fridge, cold blueberry muffins, Cheerios, Raisin Bran, and waffles (you make yourself). Front desk provides bottled water. Our fridge and microwave worked. Wal-Mart is super close to the hotel if you need anything. So in summary, location was great, employees that we saw were great. I suggest calling and asking about the pool before you go if that's...
Read moreUpon check in, I asked the clerk was this a safe location as we had heard some bad stories of another location down the road a good bit of ways. She said yes. We are from out of town obviously and arenât familiar with the area. We checked in, pulled around to our room and walked in. While I was checking in, my husband was watching drug deals go down on the corner of the hotel but stayed outside with our daughter and my phone wasnât on me for him to let me know. We pull around to our room and walk in and an old musty smell along with a smell of old Chinese food/fish knocked us down. While unloading our things, I personally seen deals going down on the same corner and the smell of marijuana was strong. We immediately loaded our things back up and went back to the clerk and asked for a refund and explained why. She called the manager/owner and explained the situation. Of course; she turned around and looked at the cameras and said nothing was going on. She had a very bad attitude bc clearly it was shift change, she even told me she was trying to get out of there but I wasnât going to allow my family and our child to stay in an unsafe environment/situation. We were refunded our amount and went on to find another room at a much higher price BUT we are safe, secure, the rooms donât smell and isnât 90 degrees inside and the bed isnât from the 1960âs. Thankful for the refund but highly recommend the customer service, even at shift change, get a...
