I was on a road trip in the South, and we were looking for a taco truck off this freeway exit and didn't find it. I usually don't eat fast food. I'm also from Northern California where my hometown in some places has 4 places to get great tacos and burritos in one block. Unfortunately, what I ordered from here was basically inedible - chips and queso, and my co-pilot had a combo plate. The chicken taco was edible, but the rice was very undercooked. I was pretty hungry, and I think of myself as an eater - I enjoy eating - versus a foodie which implies a certain level of snobbery. The chips were bland and just weren't worth the carbs (I'm diabetic), and the beefy queso was greasy and didn't taste much like nacho cheese. I thought nachos would have ground beef plus cheese and other fixins on top, but it's just chips plus a small container of queso with beef in it. I ended up going to a neighboring restaurant to get something to eat.

This was close to the worst taco place I have been to, and I have traveled all over. Could tell employees did not want to be there. I should have left but wanted to try something different. Ordered Sancho (beef) and Enchilada (chicken) combo. Had some rice, beans, and some chips on top. I do camps with kids and know Sams stuff when I taste it. I do not expect Sams #10 can food when I come to a restaurant. Ask for light ice, and she topped off my cup with ice. Was starving but just could not finish. Just threw the rest in the dumpster. This is probably one of the worst reviews I have ever written, but I just see no excuse to serve this kind of food.

Legend has it that Taco Casa has been feeding Tuscaloosa people since 1974, a staple in the college community here. If you know me, you know I love exploring new places to eat, especially if it’s tacos or BBQ. So off I went 3 hours to dine in and this place was packed like a Chic-fil-A!! Keeping things simple, I chose the Combo #1 beef which included a hard shell taco, beef enchilada covered in queso, refried beans, rice and chips. Their sweet tea is a highly recommended drink and it didn’t disappoint. The combo, however, left a bit to be desired IMO. 3.8/5⭐️ Nothing I‘d drive 3 hours again for but if you’re ever in Tuscaloosa, AL it’s worth a stop.

My experience with Taco Casa is probably only worthy of 2.5 stars, but given that I visited late in the evening right after a huge Bama football victory while they were swamped, I'll give the benefit of the doubt. It's also worth taking into consideration what they are - an Americanized, fast food taco joint.

I can't speak to the interior of the place, as we went through the drive through. The wait was pretty long - maybe 15 minutes. We knew what we were getting into, though, as there were probably 6 cars ahead of us. Faster would've been better, but it was understandable.

The gentleman who took our order and gave us our food was pleasant and our order was accurate. About as much as you can ask for there.

I got the combo number 1 (taco, enchilada, rice and beans, and chips) and the beefy queso nachos in case I didn't like the combo.

The taco was okay. It was a little cold by the time I got it home, and there was too much lettuce, but the beef was flavorful enough and the shell stayed crunchy.

The rice and beans were actually surprisingly good. They were probably the best part of the combo.

That enchilada was an abomination, honestly. It was covered in that kinda nasty yellow cheddar cheese like you'd put on gas station nachos. A shame, because again, the beef inside was alright. Cover it in queso and it might be a different story. But that artificial cheddar...I couldn't eat it, and neither could my boyfriend.

The beefy queso nachos were the best part. Lots of extra salty chips with a cup of queso to dip or pour over them. I was expecting the beef to be on top of the nachos, but it was in the queso. Good to keep the chips crispy on the ride home, but not a whole lot of beef for what you're paying for.

Overall, if I go again, I'll get the beefy queso nachos again, or some kind of combo that doesn't involve...

Taco Casa is one of the worst places I have eaten and sat in. We ordered three meals. None of us could finish our meal because of how atrocious the food tasted. The enchilada was soggy and fell apart. The taco lettuce was nasty. The burrito was sour. We also ordered three drinks, which were messed up. We had a different size and type of drink than what we ordered. The service was okay. Our cashier was very quiet and messed up our drink order. The dining area was not clean. Tables were covered in crumbs and the floors were sticky. The Women’s bathroom I did not go in, but received words about the cleanliness. The bathroom was so disgusting, we went somewhere else to eat and use the bathroom. Before my sister went to use their bathroom, a worker went in and then went outside for a smoke break. She not only left pee all over the toilet seat, but left period blood as well. As someone who had people work in the food industry, Taco Casa has no...
