I have been shopping at Wegmans since 2009. I've been to numerous locations ranging from Fredericksburg to Ashburn VA. I even went to the grand opening of the Stovall street location. I have never had an issue with my shopping experiences. However, the first return I had was a ridiculous bad experience.
On 6/25/22, I spent $242.84 at Wegmans. Later that day, I made a sandwich with a quarter the focaccia bread I purchased. It was only $6.00. This bread was largely inedible because of the salt content. And, it was so intense that it made its way through the sandwich. I really couldn't pick through the rest of the sandwich. It was done. And, the taste was horrible. I neatly packed the remaining untouch bread and wrapped it in a plastic bag. I decided I would return it the following day.
On 6/26/22, I went to the 1835 Capital One Drive location around 8:15pm. The customer service desk was closed, but one of the employees said someone will help you shortly. I will not describe the employees in depth. But, I was helped by a blonde hair manager. I asked to return the bread. She did not take it. So, I decided to unwrap it and explain to her the issue. I then provided my receipt which she also did not take. She said that she could not do returns on perishable items. She went on to say if it was moldy she could help me. At this point I asked to speak to another manager. She said I am a manager. I repeated myself again. She rolled her eyes, sighed and left. I waited for approximately ten minutes before someone else came to me. A taller woman came up to me and asked about the situation. She explained to me that it will most likely get taken care of. And, she apologized. (Thank you) She then went to speak to the first woman. I waited for another four minutes and pointed out to both of them their return policy. It does not say anything about perishable items. The blonde woman stated it was at their discretion. I told her, I would understand if I was returning $25. worth of batteries with no receipt. This is $6.00 of a $242.84 shopping bill. Eventually, a shorter male manager came up and stated they would do the return "this time". I told him that if I purchase something that is of poor quality it will be returned. I think that is a reasonable expectation of someone who has spent tens of thousands of dollars over the course of 13 years. And, this was my very first return ever at Wegmans. After about 16 minutes and three managers later my $6.15 was refunded.
This was a ridiculously bad experience. The first manager had the autonomy and the opportunity to make this right within the first two minutes. She was standoffish, didn't smile, and was not eager to help a customer. She wasted my time and a customer should never have to go through three different managers. Especially when we are talking about $6.00. The male manager wasn't much better. He kept his head down and really didn’t speak. I hope that this is reviewed and addressed within that location. Hopefully, the next person does not have to go...
Read moreWho can resist the oey goey chocolate chip cookies and pastry galore?! I was so excited for Wegman's to open up across the street, no more elbow rubbing weekend trips to Fairfax!
This Wegmans is much smaller and more compact and has a neighborhood vibe than the traditional one stop super store. The layout is completely different and after a few trips, I'm still getting a hang of it! It's paired down version of a typical Wegmans store with limited variety.
Wegmans doesn't carry a lot of private brands and varieties like mocha creamer, Sargentino cheese, Hodo plant-based tofu, etc. I couldn't find Swaddlers diapers, water wipes, Pro Total Comfort baby formula. Some stuff is missing that I'm typically able to find at the larger Wegmans locations and now have to head over to Giant for my weekly list.
On the other hand, Wegmans carries a lot of unique products like Smart Sweets fish which is much healthier version of Swedish fish with only 3 grams of sugar packed with fiber. I can't find these at Giant, Safeway, CVS, or any other grocery and convenience store (I believe Target also sells them!).
Wegman brand products are very high quality. The dark chocolate pretzels are soo good! The Eggplant Parm lasagna is delicious and restaurant quality good! We also enjoy the Wegmans brand black bean sauce, basil pesto, and goat cheese.
The fresh juices are divine and worth every penny! The orange, pomegranate, and blueberry juice was refreshing!.
The bakery is always a hit with scrumptious Rosemary and 7 grain bread. Between the Raspberry filled shortbread cookie and the cutout iced sugar cookies, it's hard to pick a favorite! My hubby has had more flaky and buttery croissants than he can count on fingers and toes. The donuts are good but don't quite stack up to the cookies!
The deli counter is great and the meat is quite tasty. My hubby loves the cured 24 month Prosciutto.
The food court has a few tailormade hot food stations - sandwiches, pizza, burgers, salads and poke bowls open during the day. The stations close around 8pm. My hubby wasn't a big fan of the burger. While the juicy burger was tasty, the soggy pickled topping made the burger really messy.
Get the white mushroom truffle pizza! The pizza is loaded with roasted mushrooms and bursting with flavor elevated by the creamy parmesan truffle sauce with mozzarella and fontina blend. The veggie pesto pizza with fresh mozzarella cheese is quite tasty too. Skip the gluten-free veggie cauliflower pizza, it's absolutely disgusting!
Free parking with validation up to 2 hours. Under 1 hour doesn't need to be validated. You can get in and out pretty easily in under an hour. The side entrance is pretty tight with lots of turns, so recommend entering by the main entrance. It's much wider and less crowded.
You can get digital coupons on the app. I've been able to save over $50 from the mail and digital coupons!
With the convenient location and delicious baked goods, we keep coming back sometimes 3 or 4...
Read morePart of the order was ready on time, the majority was not. The man at the catering desk and the ladies at the burger bar on Sept 13, 2025, played dumb when the other 75% of my order was not ready on time. They claimed some bs about not getting the order - newsflash, the other sections did get the order and it appeared almost 40 minutes before the rest of the stuff. The rest of my stuff was over 30 min late.
Lesson learned: don’t do to-go offers at Wegmans on the weekends because it’s a bunch of incompetent people trying to cover their mistakes and you’re going to be left with a cranky fam wondering why you got there on time but still need to wait over thirty min past their pick up time to get your food. It’s not even good enough for that! This is a grocery story! Your food is good for a grocery store, but that’s not saying much in terms of quality and how much you charge when they cannot even get competent staff. Abysmal. I should have gone to a restaurant because Wegmans has the nerve to charge more than they should for grocery store food that is sub par but costs more than your low level restaurants that serve the same quality food without the service or timeliness. Don’t waste your time, go to a nice restaurant to eat, pay a few more bucks and enjoy the atmosphere. It took more than hour from ordering to finally getting the food for me to get my full order. And it was an order for two people, it wasn’t even big. They just SUCK at...
