I just wanted to let it be known how the workers are treated... A young man name Zayveon worked there at the Hampton Inn in Van Buren and he TRULY loved his job even when the manager at the time name Kevin would have him working 7am-11pm 14 hr shifts! Days in a row!... STILL he never complained.... Sometimes he would work 7am-3pm or 3pm-11pm but mostly Kevin would make him work 7am-11pm and since he been working there he NEVER got a lunch break or even a 15 min break... Most times when Zayveon was supposed to get off at 3 Kevein would tell him he has to stay until 11pm... Or Kevin would just put on the schedule for Zayveon to work 7am-11pm... But Zayveon never complained! Also Kevin would mess Zayveon's time up as if he didnt work the hours he worked and his check would be short and his last check was short and Kevin NEVER fixed Zayveon's time nor paid him his correct amount of money! Zayveon would work the front desk and he would also take the workers that stayed at the hotel to their job sites... He told his manager KEVIN several times about how he was treated by the guys that he would drive to their work sites... They called him GAY they even said that he was SLOW (mentally) Kevin NEVER did ANYTHING about the situations! Anytime Zayveon would have an issue with a customer and would call Kevin about it... Kevin would tell Zayveon to handle it himself... Zayveon had been threaten he has been cursed out and Kevin never did anything about it! The last straw was when a white lady came to stay at the hotel and she came in ALREADY UPSET and complaining about the prices and at one point she got mad because she couldn't get a refund... She asked Zayveon ONE time...ONLY ONE TIME that night for help! And that was with her television and Zayveon went to the roon and fixed it... But she LIED to management and said she asked Zayveon several times that night for help with things and claim he never helped her... THAT was a LIE! But management believed HER! The only thing she needed help with was her television that she couldn't get to work... AND ZAYVEON FIXED THE PROBLEM by simply unplugging the television... She also LIED and said that Zayveon had "his friends" behind the counter... Kevin looked at the cameras and saw Zayveon NEVER had his friends behind the counter... With that being said and Kevin KNOWING she lied on this 18 yr old kid.... Kevin should've known she lied about him not helping her... The ONLY reason his friends were there is because Kevin had Zayveon working 7am-11pm with no lunch break LIKE ALWAYS and they brought him some food so he could put something on his stomach... He NEVER got ANY 15 MIN BREAK OR A LUNCH BREAK EVER while he worked there! He would work some days 7am-3pm or 3pm-11pm or 7AM-11PM WITH SHOULD BE ILLEGAL having to work a 14 hr shift... BUT ZAYVEON WOULD ALWAYS WORK THE 14 HR SHIFTS AND NEVER COMPLAIN! This woman LIED on Zayveon and he was let go... Zayveon was NOT allowed to defend himself with these allegations brought upon him by this woman! And Kevin the manager had proof that she LIED about his friends being behind that counter... The same friends that KEVIN said could come and bring him food! She LIED saying she asked Zayveon several times for help and she claim he wouldn't help her... When in FACT she asked Zayveon for help ONCE with her television and he DID help her and fixed the television! Zayveon LOVED his job and was a VERY hard worker but once again a white woman's word was believed over a black man and management did NOT have Zayveon's back with the situation... Because why... Well that woman is a customer that brings the hotel money and Zayveon is...
Read moreWhen I arrived I had been travelling all day and needed to get to my room. The girl at the desk--there was only one and her name was Whitney--was on the phone. It was obvious that it wasn't a business call because she wasn't looking at her computer or doing anything but listening and then responding softly. She never looked up at me. I finally rang the bell that was there to call somebody out of the office and she looked up and held up a finger for me to wait. I waited another minute and asked her to please just give me a room key. I had already checked in on my app but my digital key hadn't appeared. She laid the phone down, made my keys, handed them to me and went back to her phone call!!!! No "welcome", no water, no nothing. The next morning we went down to breakfast and there was coffee, milk and omelets--that is ALL--no fruit, no cereal, no bread of any kind, nothing but omelets in the warming pan. We had a cup of coffee and read the paper but had decided that we would go elsewhere for breakfast. Other people came down and asked when she was going to bring out some more food. She (and her name was Haley) said , "This is all they will let us serve", so they left to go get food somewhere . Then an elderly man came down and asked when she was bringing out some more food. Got the same answer and I couldn't handle sitting there. l asked her WHO only allowed the omelets. She said, "Hampton". I called her hand on that because I am a REGULAR at Hampton. Then she said, "It's up to each hotel owner". I asked if their owner said they could only serve omelets and then she kind of stammered and said, "Our truck is supposed to come today or tomorrow". So WHY didn't she tell us all that that was all they had--that somebody had forgotten to order and they had run out of everything else? Anyway, all of this left a bad taste in my mouth and I won't be back to the Van Buren,...

Was a great experience when we walked in, the two girls who helped us were so nice(wish we had gotten their names) and they offered cookies and drinks(water/lemon water/coffee) of our choice. I had been very exhausted from traveling for work so I did my usual hotel check that I do when I arrive anywhere. Had immediately fallen asleep and got up, left for the day then came back to go to pack up and shower, after my shower I was exhausted getting into bed and noticed small bugs on the wall. They didn’t look like they were moving as I was already exhausted. I checked if they were alive or not and they were not. I took a photo to show the front desk the next morning. Once going downstairs and trying to get my receipt I told the girls working the counter and said I was already in bed for the night and really didn’t feel like getting up and moving my room around but wanted them to know as I was a little disgusted and they just said “Wow that’s not okay”. Never got an apology or an “I’m sorry this happened” they just brushed it off and continued on FaceTime on their cell phone with another person who heard ALL of our what I assumed to be private conversation. I’m disgusted even more now as the staff does not seem to care about their guest and brushes off a situation like this. Absolutely appalled and disappointed after hearing great things from many of my coworkers about this hotel as there are not many others that look like decent hotels in this area. See photos of girls who did absolutely nothing besides talk on FaceTime, the bugs, as well as broken glass that had been in the parking lot both nights we stayed. Would never recommend this hotel and will be avoiding this chain at all cost...
