Firehouse Subs Van Buren — Restaurant in Van Buren

My husband and I were driving back to Texas and needing some lunch. Initially we decided on subway, but figured Firehouse would be better. We walked in and there were probably 5 women all behind the counter. While I was trying to decide what I wanted, I heard someone abrasively yell “HURRY UP!” It startled me and I found the demand had come from an untidy looking woman with a pixi haircut wearing a grey tank top- the undershirt kind. No uniform. After that I tried to go back to looking at what I wanted, but i was too distracted by the women all behind the counter. At this point I looked at my husband who said we needed to eat somewhere else, that he was grossed out. The woman who had caught my attention also caught his. He watched as she was touching all of the food, no gloves. Again, no uniform, not clean looking, and in a ratty undershirt. No thanks. We decided to walk out and go elsewhere, and as we walked out, two of the workers obnoxiously YELLED, “THANK YOU” and “HAVE A GREAT DAY” as if to bring to attention the fact that we were choosing to leave. I did not get the gentleman's name but he served me one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Me and him were talking he had just graduated from school and everything and he was in sports just like I was in school he was very nice walk me through the whole Firehouse subs because I've never been there before. It was awesome though the meat tasted real the bread was super soft and fresh the veggies were nice and crisp and delicious everybody there was super sweet and very helpful. Great food and excellent service. Another customer was behaving badly and causing a scene and the staff we're as polite as possible as he continued to yell at them all. The young woman tried to explain policy and offer a refund for his wife's meal, but he was too busy screaming to listen. He even threw an outside chair upsetting a young family with three little girls. The staff was great, they checked on every customer and gave an apology to each of us. They handled them selves with dignity....
