I would give zero stars if I could. The Teton Valley Motel hung us out to dry during our recent trip to Grand Teton National Park. We called to make a reservation on March 14 (four months prior to our July 11 stay). The woman who made our reservation said that the email system was down, so she gave us our confirmation number via phone. We then called a week prior to our trip to confirm our reservation, and we were told it was all good. Imagine our surprise, then, when we called on our way up to the motel to say that we'd be checking in later that night. Suddenly, they couldn't find our reservation, which either means that 1) somehow they were so incompetent that they lost our reservation in the span of a week or 2) they overbooked and thus told us that our reservation was "lost."
We couldn't believe it--we booked four months in advance because we know things book up fast around national parks in the summer, and yet we were still scrambling to find a place to stay our first night. We ended up having to pay over $100 more than planned that night for a hotel. Luckily we didn't have a super strict budget, because that extra expense could have easily ruined the rest of our trip. When we called the day of, the women we spoke to were confused about our reservation and asked if we booked through Expedia, so apparently the Teton Valley Motel hasn't figured out how to merge the reservations they get via phone with the ones booked through the internet. If they had told us up front that we needed to book online, we would have hung up to do so. Instead, they took our reservation via phone and told us we were all good, only to pull the rug out from under us the day of our trip. Beware of...
Read moreI've never had an experience like I did at this motel. As far as the room in general, it was great. The appearance of the room was really nice and the mattresses were even nicer. The room contained the best mattress we ever had in a motel. The problems arose first on check in, no one was in the office. We had to call and he said it would be 20 minutes... we immediately called back and said we'd just go eat. When we got back, we had to call again. He told us he'd forgot. This first call was about 6:30. People were coming in a lot after he finally arrived. The biggest problem we encountered was earwigs. We noticed a few outside the room and one on the door. During a run to the bathroom about 2 a.m. I washed my hands and noticed an earwig under the handtowel. I started looking around and it wasn't the only one. I killed what I saw. In the morning when leaving, we were going to complain about the earwigs and again, no one in the office. The earwigs were crawling all over the exterior walls of all the rooms. I think they need to spend some money on an exterminator, but they're never there so what do you do? The first picture is the outside of our room, the other two pictures are taken inside the bathroom on the ceiling. To me a cockroach is the nastiest of nasty, with earwigs and silverfish a tie for second place. How can a motel justify not hiring an...
Read moreThis room, the building, & the entire location is very clean & super quiet—love it being so close to Teton Pass, which is such a gorgeous drive over to gape at the Tetons! ||My room has two very comfy queen beds, a cold fridge & microwave, perfect for leftovers or re-freezing ice packs, chilling beverages, etc. There’s a nice-sized flat screen, but I’m not here to watch TV!||The bathroom is immaculate—although someone previously used part of the hair conditioner…& the partial tube remains with the other new, unused tubes, etc. ||I asked Natalie when she checked me in by phone where the best place to have dinner nearby, & she recommended West Side Yard, & it was great! (Separate review for it!)||This is a great value compared to Jackson, WY, or even nearby Driggs, ID, just minutes further away from Teton Pass…Highly recommend you give this place a try, especially if you visit “Jackson Hole” during the heavy summer tourist season, or during ski season, which is coming up soon—there’s a great ski place (Grand Targhee?) not far from here, where you get to see the mirror reverse view of Grand...
