El Guadalajara Mexican Food — Restaurant in Victor

I'm giving 4 stars because I know this is a new business and I don't want to hurt the overall rating. My girlfriend and I went in tonight for our anniversary. We sat down at 8pm. They were pretty busy so when the servers took a minute to come out we understood. We ordered our food and it didn't come out until around 9 30. They close at 9. They only brought us one of the meals and the check, I reminded the waitress about my food and we had to wait another 10 minutes for that meal, we asked for the food to go because they were closed and we didn't want to be the only ones there eating. On top of this one of our orders was wrong. I overheard the waitress saying they only had 3 out of 9 cooks working since it was the owners birthday. If you don't have enough staff to run the kitchen you don't open. Period. You don't make your customers wait an hour and a half, get the order wrong, and then expect them to pay and tip. We lost almost 2 hours of our night and paid $50 plus tip and now we have to make dinner at home. I wish this place the best but we won't...

My husband and I ate here as we were passing through on our way home from a vacation. We went in because we love Mexican food and there weren't many restaurants in town, but after eating there, I can absolutely recommend it on its own merit! The salsa was so interesting; we'd never had salsa with cabbage in it before, but it was excellent. We each ordered a taco with rice and beans. They were SO good. Combined with the chips, it was a decent sized meal. We didn't get any drinks, and our bill (before tip) was less than $20. For two people, that's practically unheard of now! The one critique is simply that the service was a little slow. It looked like they were understaffed, so we had to ask for whatever we needed because nobody really came to check on us.
