Update: went there again this week and the lady at the bar was friendly, the food was great as usual! Will be a frequent customer.
I would give them 5 stars for the food, if it wasn't for the "not so great" service and "can't be bothered" attitude of the staff. The food is awesome, I've had the kobe sliders, ribs, brisket, mac n cheese, coleslaw, prime rib sammy, shrimp tacos - all delicious and I will go back just for the food - even though I live in Jackson it's worth the drive over. I've been here several times, one time last summer my friend and I left because no server came to our table even after waiting for 30 minutes (not exaggerating), yes they were busy, but it's a TINY place - so really no excuse - especially since I've worked in the restaurant business and handled many more tables solo just fine - at 5 star resorts too. I know they don't have many options when it comes to hiring staff in little Victor Idaho, but maybe give the staff a pep talk every now and then. I will recommend this place to people, but I will warn them about the lacking service so they don't go in expecting smiles and...
Read moreSearch no more! GREAT BBQ LIVES HERE! Big Hole has an amazing variety of dishes. Brisket tacos, big hole fries, Mac n cheese, prime rib sandwich, and pulled pork sliders are some of my favorite dishes. Their BBQ sauces are a perfect compliment. Servers are always friendly and attentive. Prices are fair. They just opened back up from being closed months on end from a fire that devastated the restaurant and community, needless to say we are all so happy they are back up and running. Dining room is fun atmosphere, nicely spaced, enjoyable to look at the decor and art surrounding the room. There’s always a game on the TV’s but not loud enough you can’t have conversation. They offer outdoor dining during our warmer season. It’s a popular spot so you may have a small wait in the noon/dinner time hours. Last I checked they were doing to go orders. Also, if you’re doing the tourist thing in the valley, it is a must! Put it...
Read moreWe went here for lunch after hiking in the area. We were all looking forward to some BBQ but ended up being somewhat disappointed. The amount of pork on our sandwiches was laughable. It was more like would you like some pork with your bread. For the price of a pork sandwich ($15) I would expect a lot more meat than the scarce amount they gave. Someone else had brisket and they said that was kind of dry.
The sauce also was kind of different to me. It was more ketchup tasting than BBQ tasting than I am used to.
Being from North Carolina, maybe I have too much expectation for BBQ but I’ve been to many other places out west that can do BBQ really well.
The server was really nice so I can’t blame her at all she was nice and came over multiple times to check in. It was just the food that was not on par.
There’s not a whole lot of options in the area but I would definitely not return to this restaurant if I was back...
