BEWARE OF THIS MOTEL!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I guess my first red flag was when they took the payment for the room from my account even though I chose choose at property. Room was absolutely horrid. To start it off my key card didn’t work and I had to walk back to the office for a working key card. When I got in the room I was met by a room that smelled like mildew and cigarettes. I got a no smoking room because of my asthma and was met with a room with cigarette burns in the sheets. The room was filled with dust, a dirty toilet seat, yellow outlets from cigarette smoke, dead roaches on the floor and I was also met with a television that did nothing but show static. I went to ask for help at the front desk and was told I was lying about my room being dirty, the bugs and the television being broken. She continued to tell me I was wrong as we walked back to the room. She was also met with a TV that was not fixed and I showed her the condition of our room and requested a new room. She told me No and that they were doing work on the cable so it would be up in 2 hours. Which didn’t make sense. We left and requested no one go into our room while we were gone. We even left a do not disturb sign on the door. They went in our room while we were gone, replaced the TV with a new one, and threw the do not disturb sign in the floor. Funny how they went against what we asked to replace the TV but not clean the room. I would of appreciated it if they at least did some housekeeping while they were in there. That night we saw live roaches climbing on the TV as we watched a movie. Causing neither of us to get sleep. We ordered pizza but threw it out since we didn’t know if the roaches had access to the mini fridge. When I canceled my reservation the next day due to finding what looked like a bedbug and live roaches they told me I’d have to talk to the manager for a refund. I left my number and called multiple times after I left. When I couldn’t get ahold of anyone at Econo Lodge for a refund by the next day I called choice hotels (The company in charge of econo lodge) and booking.com in hopes they could help me. Booking.com told me they would request Econo Lodge refund my money for both days but they ignored all of their emails/calls. I got on my account and found they charged me another $70.26 without permission or reason. I wasn’t even staying there at this point. I filed a police report this time. In the end all I got credit on my booking.com account, “for my bad experience.” Not even real money. I’m still currently fighting for my money back now. They charged me over $200 for a stay I signed to pay $140 for. I had no pets. I stayed at the hotel for 6hrs until I could find a safer/cleaner room. This place was a nightmare. All I wanted was to enjoy coming back to my hometown with my best friend and ended up spending most of my vacation trying to stop them from continuing to...
Read moreYep, there are roaches.
In addition to being an all around dirty place, there are roaches that are bold and plentiful enough to crawl across the wall or your desk with zero fear. The bed in our room was not particularly comfortable either, but worse then the discomfort of the rather hard and thin mattress was the loud and obnoxious banging noises that would come thundering up from the strange and hollow base of our bed at even the slightest movement.
While such motel quirks might only to be expected from such inexpensive lodgings, what might actually surprise you is the rude and confrontational nature of the staff and/or management.
Due to unforseen circumstances, my husband and I have been taking a lot of extended stays at various hotels recently. Exhausted from all the moving around, we decided to take advantage of Choice Hotels late checkout option for gold members and get a little extra shut eye before our departure. However, our lazy day was not to be.
At 11 o'clock we heard a knock and were greeted by a member of the staff unlocking our door despite our request to hold on a moment. The man before us promptly asked if we intended to stay another day or were ready leave. We informed him we were leaving but would be checking out at 1:00 P.M rather then 11:00 A.M., as we were gold members. He began insisting rudely that we could stay another night or checkout immediately. We reiterated our wish for a late checkout and he immediately became hostile.
The man insisted that if we did not wish to stay another night then we could leave no later than 12:00 P.M, but only because he wanted to be nice. Then he claimed that our room had been reserved so we needed to leave so that the next person could check in, despite his earlier query as to whether we wished to stay longer or not.
We again reminded him of Choice Hotels late checkout option as well as the posted check-in time of 3:00 P.M and he triumphantly declared that that rule only applied if the room had not been reserved, which he now claimed it had. Then, losing all remnants of composure, the man began shouting at us that since we would not take his kind offer to leave at 12:00 P.M. he would simply call the cops on us. Then he began stalking off, leaving me to call after him that we would be gone by 12:00 P.M. despite the obviousness of his lie.
Overall a very poor and hostile experience. Half full soap containers and an almost empty toilet paper roll were just the icing on the cake of our...
Read moreI bought a week for $337. The first room had bed bugs. I was skeptical that the reason I was itching was anything more than my meds, but then found one on the edge of my bed. I told the guy at the front desk. He said, no no no. I said yes I've had them before and know what they look like. He then told me he couldn't give me a refund because I was getting a very special rate, which was the rate everyone gets, $337/week, which is cheaper than paying 7 nights one day at a time. And I had only stayed two nights at this point, I just wanted my refund to be for the 5 I hadn't stayed but already paid for. He then told me he would move me to a different room. He moved me to a new room where I continued to itch when I laid in the bed.bI thought that room had bed bugs too, but as hard as I searched for one, I couldn't find any. The itching continued. I didn't report it at that point because I assumed all the rooms were infested. I ended up seeing an Orkin man going from room to room spraying a preventative insecticide, so I called him over and told him my current situation, so he stripped the bedding off my mattress and searched for evidence of a bed bug infestation. He actually came back with another guy before he did all that and they stripped the bedding together. Even though they found no evidence, they said it didn't mean there weren't any bed bugs, but they could find no sign of any. I have stayed my week and am now in my new apartment, however, even though I washed all my clothes and dried them in an industrial dryer at the laundromat, hoping to prevent the spread of whatever was making me itch, I set up a brand new, fresh out of the box, air mattress that I bought when at the motel. It was sitting under the sink area unopened for about two or three days before I checked out and now has me itching like crazy at night when I lie down on it. It could have only came from that room. I thought it was bed bugs, scabies mites, chiggers, rodent mites and can't think of anything else but I do not itch at night unless I am in clothes that have been on my bedroom floor or am laying on that air mattress. I do not itch at night when I leave the apartment. The econo lodge did give me another room when I complained but it was infested with something different. Other people staying in other rooms at that time told me there rooms were fine, but I had two and neither one was good and I couldn't get a refund. I do not...
