Read moreWhat an utter disappointment and inconvenience for $12. I drove up here from the Austin area for my daughter’s volleyball tournament this weekend and had to reserve under a room block. I called earlier in the day to see if I could get the total of my room and if they could charge my card in advance because money is tight right now and I didn’t want anything jeopardizing the charge for the room. They said they couldn’t provide that amount and that they couldn’t charge it before I checked in. Okay fine, nothing I can do but show up now.
I estimated the taxes and with the $50 incidental deposit, I figured $453 should be enough to cover two nights at $179 ($368) plus the $50 deposit, which leaves $45 for taxes at around 12%. When I arrived at the hotel and gave my card to charge, it declined. When I asked how much they were trying to charge, she said $465. Realizing that was more than I had on my credit card, I then asked if I could pay the $50 incidental deposit with a different card and the front desk agent said she couldn’t because it’s a new system and it wasn’t letting her do that. Well now I’m baffled trying to figure out options. I tried to add another payment to my credit card but it wouldn’t process until Monday. I then asked her to call the manager to see if there’s a way to put the deposit on another card or waive it and the manager said it was against company policy to waive the deposit so there was nothing that could be done. My daughter’s team is at this hotel and embarrassingly, because I was short a measly $12 on my credit card, we had to leave and rush to find another hotel at 8pm.
The first few I called were sold out and I finally got in at Hilton Garden Inn for $411 with the $50 incidental deposit. As a Marriott Silver Elite member, this entire situation was completely disappointing, especially because my kids had to witness this travesty. And to add insult to injury, after I left, I tried to cancel the reservation in good faith, but the agent told me the cancellation fee was more than my actual reservation. It was a terrible night but I couldn’t let it end without writing...
Read moreI stayed here for 6 weeks and couldn’t be happier. First, the breakfast. Miriam and Adriana are excellent chefs, offering made to order, fresh and healthy breakfast. They greet you every morning with a warm smile and really care about their guests. My wife Janthip and I really looked forward to starting our day with their friendly smiles. They also offer a self-serve selection of pastries, bagels, cereals, bread for toasting, spreads and a yogurt bar. FYI - the Element has a bit of a wellness theme, so don’t expect pork sausage and bacon. Instead they offer a chicken bacon and a delicious chicken sausage. The hotel staff were great. They all quickly knew my name and greeted me every time I walked through the door. When I had packages delivered, the staff notified me when I arrived at the end of the day. Although all of the staff were wonderful, there were two that I had the most interaction with, Julian and Lauren. They were so attentive. Jillian remembered my name and room number, and always had my packages ready for me. My wife and daughter arrived at a later date, and Lauren was so kind, and attentive when they arrived. She had their keys ready, and gave them all the information they needed to settle in comfortably before I returned. The rooms were super comfortable, clean and spacious. I really appreciated the filtered water amenity built in to the kitchenette sink. The water was delicious and saved me from buying, and carting up cases of water. We also really enjoyed the onsite BBQ grill. The hotel is super convenient. From the round about, you can get anywhere in Waco within 15 minutes. I will stay here everytime...
