When I arrived at the hotel, the owner was standing outside smoking a cigarette. I waited at the counter while he finished his cigarette, I didn’t realize he was the owner at first, but it almost became an issue when I checked in because I did not have an ID (domestic violence survivor)—he seemed hesitant to let me stay until I mentioned contacting a family advocate. Took 25 minutes to check me in. When I asked for three pool towels, he didn’t respond, but later he went into the pool area and brought only two. The wife, who clearly runs the place, was extremely rude. The way she spoke to me was demanding and unkind, which made the stay even more uncomfortable. (2nd time staying here, first time she was rude to) The last month of my life has been terrifying — I had to flee the area I came from with my son due to domestic violence. I understand that the area can be rough and that sometimes people take advantage of the system, but not everyone is the same. In situations like mine, compassion and basic respect are essential, and unfortunately, that was not shown here. On top of that, the microwave in my room did not work. When I went to the breakfast bar to use the one there, the lady came in rushing and demanded that I sit in the lobby while my food was heating up. I had no choice but to sit and wait in the lobby while my food was still in the microwave, which felt humiliating. To make matters worse, my son accidentally spilled his lasagna on the blanket. When he politely went down to ask for a new one, instead of providing clean bedding, the same lady made him put the blanket into the washer himself and carried an attitude the entire time. This kind of treatment toward guests, especially a child, was unacceptable. The breakfast itself was very disappointing: the cereal tasted stale, waffle batter tasted sour and the bagels were rock hard. According to other reviews, the hot tub has been out of order for nearly a year. My room had a strong musty smell, the bottom of the shower curtain was starting to turn pink, the tile around the toilet was cracked, and there was a horrible urine odor in the bathroom. Overall, I cannot recommend...
Read moreWe had a great stay here, with wonderful service. It was just what we were looking for - clean, comfortable, affordable, and welcoming. Nicer than a cheap budget motel without breaking the bank! Our room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Just for fun, I added a "special request" to our reservation, asking them to leave a piece of chocolate on my pillow. I didn't really expect them to, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a full-sized Hershey bar with almonds waiting for me! That was a really nice touch.
Our queen room was complete with a sizable fridge, microwave, and one-cup coffee maker. There was also a large mirror next to the bed.
They have an interactive "points of interest" guide in the lobby with a map of the local area, as well as a coffee station. I didn't eat the continental breakfast, but my husband wasn't overly impressed. However, it was on par with what you'd expect from a hotel, e.g. the usual yogurt, juice, make-your-own waffles, and hot food - eggs and sausage links. Breakfast was served from 6 to 10.
This hotel is very close to the lake. The restaurant next door (Jimmy's) looked good, though we didn't have a chance to eat there.
Check-in was quick and smooth - just make sure to have your license plate number on hand. Check-out was also a jiffy; we just dropped our key cards in their handy "express checkout" box.
Overall we really liked this hotel, and would definitely stay here again! Thanks for a...
Read moreThe woman that does the housekeeping here is amazing and keeps the rooms clean and lovely. She is nice, attentive, and knows what's going on.
The management is the worst I've ever encountered. When we checked in, the woman checking us in did not seem to know what to do. It took longer than 20 minutes to get everything figured out. She didn't know if the pool was open or not.
I went to the complimentary breakfast. There were food items out, but the juice and coffee were empty, and there were no tea bags for tea. Another guest couple came and immediately left because of the lack of coffee. I went to the front desk to ask about butter and hot water. The man at the desk was asleep. He groggily showed me the hot water and butter, then returned to the desk, where he began to nod off once again.
Later that morning we went to the desk to check out. We ended up leaving our key card at the desk because there was no one there. The hotel phone was ringing and ringing. The desk attendant's phone, however, was on and loudly too. The phone was showing a video of inappropriate nature. I shooed my children out of the hotel as quickly as possible.
TLDR: Whoever cleans the rooms is wonderful and lovely. The management is terrible and incompetent. I'm surprised this place is still...
