We tried this on a beautiful Sunday just before noon. We ordered the special which was a BBQ pizza and an order of cheese bread. We say upstairs and while the atmosphere was dark it was rather nice. Our waiter was very nice and personable and provided us quick service. My problem came with the food and the manager. Our cheese bread was just that. Cheese on top of toast. No seasons no real taste. And the dipping sauce didn't come with it. We had to pay extra for that. I found this to be odd. When our pizza arrived I had high hopes. It looked good. Maybe a bit over cooked but still delicious. We were first tipped that this would he interesting when I tried to take a piece off and it looked cut on top but the pizza cutter hadn't been able to cut through the bottom of the crust. After taking about 4 minutes to cut a square piece up for my two year old I grabbed a piece for myself. I grabbed and end and ended up having to again cut it myself. On my first bit I saw the problem. The bottom of the crust was rock hard. How it wasn't black is beyond me. The top of the crust seemed to be raw dough. Not soggy from the sauce as the manager tried to tell us but raw yet. The flavors were just okay and we would have eaten it had it not been for the crust but wouldn't have ordered it again. We told our waiter who was very apologetic and offered to make a new one but we decided to just continue with our day. Total we ate maybe one full slice from the pizza. I was shocked to see the pizza on our final bill. When I went to pay our waiter said he told his manager about it and the manager had to "think about it." I am not sure what there was to think about. The food wasn't cooked properly and we told them right away. We didn't eat it all then complain. So when the manager got to us I explained what had happened and he gave the impression that he didn't care. I had even heard him talking poorly to his employees but that isn't my issue right now. He asked to see the pizza and I said sure we went back to the table and he took one at the crust and even said "what did they do to this?" He then proceeded to look at me and say "so half off okay?" I said we ate one piece and I didn't want to pay for it at all. He didn't say anything else and just proceeded to ring up my total with the pizza off and seemed annoyed the whole time. His shirt said "chef" but it didn't seem like he had any desire to apologize. Hopefully he wasn't the head chef. I will not try here again but...

From the moment you walk in, it’s clear this restaurant views customers as more of an inconvenience than guests. The lack of basic hospitality and indifferent service sets the tone early on. Staff barely make eye contact, and the “process” to get a table feels like fast food. You’re required to order and pay at the counter before even being seated, which makes sense later, given the quality of what you’re served.

I ordered a Reuben sandwich, and my dining partner ordered the "large chicken nachos" from the appetizer menu. Once seated, the food was dropped off at our table without so much as a “Can I get you anything else?” The lack of any courtesy, let alone standard dining expectations, was noticeable.

Now, let’s talk about the nachos. It was our error that we missed the onions, but we hadn’t touched the plate and asked if it could be remade without them. We were met with a flat "no" and told it was our responsibility to specify. Even beyond this, the dish itself was poorly prepared. Large portions were burnt, with dry, unmelted cheese clumps in the middle. It almost seemed like they took a blowtorch to the top without any regard for the rest.

As for the Reuben, this was the real disappointment. I've had my share of Reuben sandwiches, and this was, without exaggeration, among the worst I’ve seen. It had all the hallmarks of a prepackaged, truck-stop item: thin, store-bought bread, bland deli meat, and a smear of something resembling an aioli. The sauerkraut tasted stale, and the “side” was a single pickle spear. At $14, this would be hard to justify at a roadside convenience store, let alone a sit-down establishment.

Adding insult to injury, we were told to bus our own table, and we found cups, silverware, and other condiments on a trolley alongside dirty dishes, all waiting for the next guest. The decor feels frozen in time somewhere between the late ’70s and early ’80s, but without the charm you'd hope for in a retro space.

If you’re looking for a meal, spare yourself the time and frustration and head across the street for better food and genuine service.

Verdict: Overpriced, underwhelming, and absolutely...

I have been eating at the Village Square on a fairly regular basis with several of my coworkers for over 15 years. I know in the summer months that it is very busy and getting your food can be very slow, so it has been common practice to order ahead to make sure that we have enough time to eat our food on lunch break. Today I called ahead and ordered lunch for myself and 3 of my coworkers. My coworkers all had the Gyros each with different sides and I had a pizza. When we arrived only one of the Gyros we ordered was served along with my pizza and the sides that were ordered with the other Gyros. We waited for the server to bring the other Gyros thinking that she was just going to make two trips, but the Gyros never came. When we asked she said that there was only one Gyro ordered. While this was frustrating because we were already 15 minutes into our 30 minute lunch break, our server did try her best to get the other two Gyros out and to get my coworkers a discount. However, when we went to pay and our server was again apologizing for the misunderstanding and saying that they are going to have to get better about reading the orders back, the owner tells me that this has been an issue that they have been having and that they were going to stop accepting call ahead orders. Like it was our fault that our order was messed up? (Also frustrating as I see in a review a month ago the owner responded that due to how busy they are in the summer people should call their orders in ahead). As a very regular customer I find it very discouraging that my business is valued so little and I will be taking my business elsewhere, as will many of my coworkers. I have to say that I am disappointed in the decline in quality of service at the Village since it has...

We stopped by during our vacation from Nebraska. Such a cute little place inside and out! We got the Margherita pizza (without pine nuts) and it was delicious, the crust on it was really nice! The person behind the counter was kind and patient with us while we were deciding on what we wanted. We got ice cream afterwards. Same as the pizza side, service was awesome! The lady behind the counter was friendly and patient while my MIL and a group of ladies next to us sampled some flavors. I got Praline Pecan, always a favorite. My MIL got Lemon Bar and Chocolate Silk, she liked them a lot! Overall a wonderful experience!

The pizza wasn’t terrible. It tasted like the type of pizza you see turning in a glass box at snack shops. The Italian sausage sandwich was on special but it wasn’t anything special. It had ok flavor, and the sauce and cheese were decent. I’ve had better and worse elsewhere. The chicken and dumpling soup was probably the best part even though it looked kind of watery. The restaurant has a weird layout and the staff never came to refill our drinks even though we sat directly in front of them and they were just standing there talking. I can’t give this place high praise, but it’s ok.
