If you're like me, you are hesitant to book this hotel because of the mixed reviews. Why do some people hate the place, while others have a great experience? The answer is in the guest population: They have a lot of extended-stay guests who treat the property as their home. When the owner has to ask one of them to leave for failure to pay or otherwise breaking the rules, they grow angry and retaliate with bad reviews. Those pictures of dirty rooms? They look that way because they have been occupied long-term, and it is the guest's own dirt.
I stayed here for 3 days, and had an overwhelmingly positive experience. The manager/owner is very friendly and helpful. The room had recently been renovated and was very attractive. The only room issue was the door weather stripping needed replacement, but the weather was mild so it did not present a problem.
The location is right on the main street of downtown, and convenience stores and restaurants are in easy walking distance.
The parking lot can be a bit tight when the place is full, but I always found a spot.
That said, the place can be a little loud. Those long-term guests understandably treat the balconies like their front porch, and the socializing can be heard in adjacent rooms. But it doesn't generally last long, and if it bothers you, the management will shut it down.
You may not find this accommodation in the Michelin Guide, but I found it clean, friendly and, most of all, affordable. Remember the price you paid before you whine about...
Read moreThe owner happened to be outside as my mother and I pulled up in our van in order to check out. Another car was in front of us, so we were waiting our turn. He looks in our back van window and starts frantically pointing at my husky sitting in the back seat next to me. He says something to my mom, so now she has to get out and find out what he is upset about. He had a heavy accent and my mom was not understanding him too well. He kept pointing at my husky. My mom finally figured out what he was saying, "bed sheet". Before we left home to go on our trip, I had advised my mom to place a fitted bed sheet on her back seat of her van to catch husky fur. This jerk tried to accuse my mom of stealing one of his bed sheets from the hotel room! My mom is the most honest person I know and would never steal anything so this was very insulting. We just paid extra money so my husky can stay there, there are signs up everywhere saying keep pets off grass so you have to get very creative when taking them potty, the rooms are not really that great and you're going to accuse my mother of theft?! She had to tell him to look more carefully as there were little cats printed on the sheet so it obviously was not his. And who is he to stick his nose into what we have in our van? My advice? Find somewhere...
Read moreBad experience I never have in a stay. Guy at the front desk had this attitude at check in.... Let it go because I was tired and want to avoid the hassle to find an another hotel. Then I got a message from days inn the morning after asking me if I wanted to check out late for a fee. I submitted the request to check out at 1pm for $20. At 11:15 Am housekeeping knocked at my asking me to leave I say that I put in a request for late checking and went back to sleep. 10 MN later got a call from the front desk asking me to check out I gave him same answer and then he says "you will have to paid extra". I said I know. I couldn't go back to sleep so I finally check out after 12pm. Told the guy at front desk that it was hard to get some rest with them as I requested a late check out. He said that I had to call the front desk. I told him Why send a text then ? that he should put a sign at the reception or in the rooms to let people know. He says No and when I asked why he said I cannot tell him what to do. Never in my whole experiences with hotels I faced this kind of attitude. And breakfast ? It was a joke. I guess that you got what you paid for. Will go back to Waynesboro, PA but I will find a better hotel. I don't recommend this...
