Read moreCame to the area for a family event and wanted to stay a night in a nice bed and breakfast and found The Amberson House. The hosts, Amanda and Diane, were pleasant and extremely helpful. On the day of our arrival, I received a text message from Amanda asking our approximate arrival and on our drive up received a message about the parking location, and to pull in front of the building if we were unable to find it. Being that I have a good sense of direction, I was able to navigate to the back of the building where the parking was located pretty easily. The backyard of the bed & breakfast is quaint with a nice seating area and firepit, as well as a nice patio and potential for playing cornhole and other fun activities. |The public areas including the dining room, living room and sitting areas are all nice. Our room was on the first floor. Amanda said it used to be a physician's exam room. Interesting! The room was spacious, had a fairly comfortable bed, a number of outlets around the room and very nice furnishings. The bathroom, albeit small, was nice and the shower had an excellent stream and the shampoo and shower gel on the wall, was very nice. Our breakfast the next morning was home cooked to order and very tasty. Just enough to get the day started, but not too much to feel overly full. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate were always available, as well as cookies and pastries. Plus, this B&B was super conveniently located with lots of restaurants within a short walk. Highly recommend staying at this B&B if you are going to be in the area or are just...
Read moreThere’s a lot that goes into running an inn and Amanda knocks it out of the park. Arrived for a graduation at nearby Mount St. Mary’s and an unexpected romantic getaway materialized around the trip. The rooms were fun and cozy. The food prepared by Amanda was out of this world delicious. We were able to see sights that were recommended to us, including the best way to see Gettysburg from a true local. Many of the guests were trekking the Appalachian Trail. Not only were they provided with a warm bed and meals, but the Inn picks up hikers and shuttles them free of charge. Laundry service provided and loaner clothes so they can wash everything here at the halfway point. At the end of the day the accommodations alone would deserve a 5 star review, but the service provided makes this a stellar stay. If you are traveling, or simply want an authentic B&B experience, this is the place for you! Thanks...
