I’ve stayed at Hilton on many occasions, the good has outweighed the bad until now. On Saturday my fiancé and I decided to take a last minute trip to unwind before going back to work. We arrived at Hilton Waverly gave the attendant name Cat our reservation number she pulled it up then stated we owe $169.00 we in turn show her that our stay has been paid in full. We stayed there almost 2hrs trying to figure out why she and I were seeing 2 different things. Within those 2 hrs we asked Cat could she get someone who may know a little more than she do to help us ( never happened). After a long day at Carowinds we were exhausted and was not about to pay for the room twice so we decided we’ll just drive home (almost 3 hrs away). On the ride home we got a notification stating that we were charged $139.00 as a no show. WE SHOWED UP AND WAS THERE ALMOST 2HOURS!!! I called back and spoke with the overnight attendant she said Cat never told them we came and she should’ve canceled our room while we were there. She told us to call back the next day and speak with Tara the manager, she wasn’t in the office Sunday so we called back again Monday. We spoke with Tara explained everything. We could tell early in the conversation that she could careless about our side of the situation but we remain respectful even after being cut off several times while we explain what had happen Saturday. After speaking with Tara she said she had to call the GM (no name given) and would call us back. She call us back and said she couldn’t refund/ stop the transaction and putting the blame on us as to why we got the no show charge. ( WE WERE NOT A NO SHOW) We ask her for the GM name and phone number. She said she’d ask her to call us. I said ok fine but I still need the GM contact info. She gave us the number to the hotel we’d just call and no name for the GM. ( all the respect I encouraged my fiancé to have “I”could no longer contain after that stunt) We called customer service and told them the situation. They tried to pull up our reservation but couldn’t so they call the hotel told them about the complaint so they could help them find the reservation and try to resolve the issue Tara act like she didn’t know who I was so I got transferred back to her and she continued to act like she didn’t know who I was like we hadn’t just talked 30 min prior. We sill haven’t received a call from the GM or a refund. This is poor business and we’re highly disappointed in the service we’ve received. Read moreI would rate the hotel, the staff, and the location 10 stars if I were able to do so. I have been traveling to Charlotte monthly for many years. I have always avoided this hotel because I like bigger rooms and suites. I most often stay at Embassy Suites for that exact reason.
I decided to give this hotel a shot because I was tired of the staff at the Embassy Suites, I had been staying at for the past six months being so unfriendly, uncaring, and unprofessional. As much as I love their rooms and lobby, I could no longer give them my business.
I am certainly glad I did as this Hilton has not only earned my business, I will not stay anywhere else in Charlotte unless they have no rooms available when I need to make my business trip.
Every single employee I encountered from the front desk to the managers, to the restaurant, to the housekeepers were simply awesome. Every one of them was professional, friendly, genuine, caring, and happy.
The lobby is laid out wonderfully to meet with people, the bar is in a terrific location, the hotel management should be incredibly proud of their Team and the Hotel owners should be incredibly proud of their managers.
My only regrets are not trying the hotel many years ago and not remembering the names of all that I encountered as they all deserve the highest of accolades.
I will give up my suites for the smaller rooms because the hotel staff is incredible. As a business owner of 34 years myself, I understand the value of amazing customer service and this hotel exceeded all expectations.
I also want to recognize that they not only appreciated me, but they also recognized me as a long-time Diamond member, which many of the hotels take for granted. The better part was I witnessed six different people/couples checking in over my three night stay that were not Diamond members, in fact three of them were not members at all. Every single one of them was treated with the same friendliness and professionalism that I was.

I checked in overnight and met Omar, who made my stay truly unforgettable. Omar went above and beyond in every possible way. He assisted me with my dry cleaning and constantly checked in with me and my party to ensure we were comfortable. I also noticed Omar and the rest of the staff checking in on all the wedding guests, making sure everyone had breakfast vouchers, their check-in bags, and anything else they needed.
Omar's attention to detail and dedication were outstanding. He greeted us with a warm smile every time and was eager to help with any request, no matter how big or small. Whether arranging transportation, offering local dining recommendations, or making sure our room was perfect, Omar handled everything with professionalism and genuine care. He even advised us on late-night snack and food options, which was incredibly helpful.
What stood out was Omar’s ability to anticipate our needs before we even asked. He remembered our preferences and consistently went out of his way to make us feel at home. His exceptional service and friendly demeanor turned a routine hotel stay into a memorable experience.
Omar's commitment to excellence and his talent for making guests feel special is a testament to his dedication and passion for hospitality. He is a true superstar, and I hope his hard work is recognized by management.
