Buyer beware, please exercise caution when staying here and be sure to check your billing before leaving. The room was paid for and under my wife's name and card. How they could investigate and conclude that we made these charges based off my name is BEYOND my comprehension. After contacting multiple staff members, we have received no concrete help and only accusations. Neither my wife nor I used any of the hotel's extra services. While this charge is not an absurd amount of money, it still matters. Fraud is a serious accusation, and I do not make this claim lightly. We will be contacting and communicating with the corporate office and our personal bank from here on out. This has been an absolutely miserable experience and wish we had gone with a different hotel from the start of our trip. As an additional note, after having to call the front desk the second night we should have been OFFERED to switch rooms instead of being treated as an annoyance.
Myself and my wife typically do intense research before choosing a hotel. Our vacation time is limited and we want to be sure we enjoy ourselves when travelling. When choosing this hotel we made certain that it primarily accommodates to businesses in hopes of avoiding specific issues. We both do not require much tending to. While our check in went seamlessly our evening was not. On the first night of our stay we were more than willing to let the constant disruptions not hamper our good mood. Our first night was met with constant sounds of screaming, running, and thumps from neighboring rooms and outside hallway well past midnight. We come to find out a sports team was occupying our floor with us being one of the few rooms not involved with the team. This would have been a great opportunity to be moved to another room/or floor the following night but were assured the other guests had been asked to be reasonable. We always want to be understanding and flexible so we took this reassurance as trustworthy and didn’t make a fuss. The next night was the exact same situation with exception to our wall now vibrating from music. We have no interest in confrontation so we moved on from the issue after having called the front desk and receiving the same message with no results. After giving up two nights of sleep that we desperately needed for the weekend and drive home, we decided to call the stay a loss. At least we enjoyed our time elsewhere and got to enjoy the local activities NC has to offer.
Upon leaving, we noticed there were additional charges from the bar sent to our room. Both I and my wife were in one another’s presence our entire stay nor do either of us drink (in any capacity whatsoever). Upon calling the front desk, customer service, and the on duty manager, we were effectively told that they did not believe us. Our attempts to contact higher management were ignored or pushed off. After many calls and receiving no help, or resolution from Sonia (operations manager) or Layla (General Manager) we decided to contact our bank. This was almost two weeks of back and forth conversation with absolutely no resolution. Someone had committed an act of fraud against us while staying at the hotel and the staff seems to be fully complacent with the act. We have even begged the staff to review security footage as both of us are very identifiable and at no point visited or even went physically near the bar. If you decide to stay here be sure to check your room charges after your stay. This specific location seems perfectly content to accept fraud so long as it is in their benefit. This was our second stay at the hotel but will be our last, there is more than enough competition in the area that is actually worried about meeting their...
Read moreWith almost 1,300 nights stayed over the last 17 years as a loyal Marriott Bonvoy member I can say the Management and staff is the worst of any Marriott branded hotel I have ever stayed in.
In fact, in the almost 1,300 nights I’ve stayed at Marriott branded hotels, I’ve rarely had a bad experience, the total can be counted on 1 hand. The specific incident at this hotel relates to the assistant general manager.
There are only two different types of queen room and two different types of king rooms at this hotel. Management does not allow Front desk staff to upgrade a room without their approval. I asked for an upgrade to a larger queen room, which by the way was only about $30 more a night. There were plenty of rooms available and I had to wait on hold for over 10 minutes for the approval.
I needed to extend my stay for an additional 2 nights for a total of 4 nights and the assistant general manager again had to be involved. She said the room type was available, but wanted me to pay for it instead of being upgraded. I offered to use my suite nights and she agreed. When I went into the bonvoy app, the option to use suite nights was not available so I called Bonvoy Customer service for help. I was advised by them that suite nights couldn’t be used because of hotel restrictions and the agent said she made notes on the reservation detailing this and respectfully requesting a complimentary upgrade.
I went back down to the front desk to pass what customer service said and the AGM said that’s not possible, as “corporate cannot hack into a reservation I created” and implied I was lying. I was told I needed to “figure it out”. I’m sorry, I don’t know how to figure it out if the app won’t let me and customer service said they can’t on their end either.
At the end of the day I was denied a $30 upgraded room as a Bonvoy Titanium elite member when the room type was available so that they could hopefully make an extra $30 for two nights. Additionally, I had to haggle just to get my food and beverage credit because one of the front door clerks thought I was staying at the hotel by myself even though I was with my wife and young children.
Do yourself a favor and find another Marriott property if staying in the area or better yet the Hilton Garden Inn also in Waverly. It’s in a better location and is overall a...
Read moreI've stayed here about 5 times for 2-5 night stays. I get a deluxe room for about 200 a night. The room is massive, which we love. It is located near some cute shopping. The housekeeping is done at best every other day, and they seem to view this as doing us a favor. My biggest complaint is bistro. We like to order breakfast. Food is good. But you cannot find a menu online, it closes by 9:30am, and you can't even order by phone. You must go in person to see the menu and order, prior to getting dressed and ready for the day. I don't want to wake at 8am on vacation. They claim this is because this is a 3 star hotel. Paying $200 a night, I don't care what they call it. I understand going down to pick it up if there are no staff. But to have to order in person and not phone? What decade is this? They charge $5 for a water. That isn't very 3 star. Can't have it both ways. I think it is just a very male hotel, catering to male businessmen. Women are less likely to go down in person straight out of bed. I wanted a receipt which didn't come with my food that my daughter picked up and I'd have to go down by 10am to get it. Check in can be a bit slow but they are very nice. Another issue with the room is it is supposed to come with coffee/tea. There are 4 of us. 3 nights. 1 bag of tea? 2 cups for hot liquid. There are 4 on the reservation, but 3 towels, etc. If you call to ask for more, they try hard to accommodate, but it always seems like there is only one person working. Who is doing hiring that they don't have 2 people working in a hotel this size? I think the issue is they don't want to spend money on cleaning or staff. ...
