Gray Plaza Motel — Hotel in West Frankfort

We stayed one night in a room with 2 beds. We got good rest here during a long car trip. This place has great architecture from a bygone time. It's definitely a budget motel. However, room size is bigger than you'll get at a hotel6. Clean. Cosemtic updates and maintainence reveal the place as old but clean with no reason to complain in my book. The furnishings are a modge podge of older stuff, But in good condition. Good, hot water...liked that it had a window in the barthoom. Many fast food, Walmart, convenience store, etc all close by. The only thing disappointing for us was we experienced slow to unuseable internet. I enjoy staying at cool, old, budget motels that have been modestly updated...

STAY AWAY FROM THIS DUMP!!!! This place deserves a -10 rating & should be condemned. The only reason they got a 1 was because I had to so that I could post my review. We pulled into the parking lot and the place looked nothing like the pictures they had posted online. The parking lot was terrible and you could see torn, satined curtians hanging in empty rooms from the streets. There was even an empty room that you could see boxes stacked up with the same dingy curtains. The clerk at the desk said because we made the reservation online that we could not cancel in person so we went online, cancelled before their deadline & they still charged us. Anyone promoting this dump...

All I can say is BUGS - and those were the ones we SAW!!! We reserved two rooms for two nights and after checking in, was horrified to find bugs in the rooms. When we requested a refund as we didn't feel safe staying there, I was met by an argumentative rep that claimed there were no bugs in those rooms. When I retrieved the trash bag that their squished little bodies were located in, and showed them to her, she quickly snatched the bag away and said "well they must have come in from outside". REALLY?? I hope so!! She refunded one night of our stay - I'm hoping the Illinois Better Business Bureau can convince them to refund the other. I would NOT recommend this...
