This is a new hotel, so it is clean, beautiful and well equipped. The rooms do not have carpet which is a good thing because the hotel is pet friendly. That said, I will not be staying here again.
I made my reservations at lq.com. There is no notice on the website that this hotel now charges a pet fee of $20 per pet. Neither was there any mention of it on my confirmation or the text reminder they sent me. The first I heard of it was upon checking in. That is not fair and it is a betrayal to loyal LaQuinta customers who come here BECAUSE of the pet policy. I asked the receptionist to waive the fee because I was not notified of it and she said she could not do that. I had to sign two forms to acknowledge I was paying the pet fee. I guess they don't trust their customers either.
The check-in process was the worst I have ever experienced. There were 4 people checking in front of me. It took 30 minutes to check in. That is unacceptable. If this place is so busy, perhaps they need more than one check in clerk. She also was answering the phone whilst checking people in. Very bad management.
Our room, a King Deluxe was comfortable. But the tv remotes were horrible. No button for "guide" and no list of channels. The tv screen said to push the "input" button. There was no input button. Eventually you will find the guide embedded in channel 7.1 if you can figure out how to switch it from analog to digital. The fitness center was superb.
I spoke to the manager upon checking out about my dissatisfaction with the unannounced pet fee and she was not helpful. She claimed notice of the fee is on page 2 of their website. It is not readily apparent. To find this information you must go to this particular hotel's web page, click on amenities, then click on see all policies. My suggestion: if you are changing a key element of the business plan that contributed so heavily to the success of your brand, make sure it is immediately obvious to potential customers. Like many of my fellow travelers, I realize the hotel may change its policies whenever it wants and I am able to decide if I want to stay here under those policies or not. I object to finding out about it upon checking in. Hiding such a fundamental policy change on page 2 or 3 of a website is a complete disregard for their customers and a betrayal to those who are loyal to the brand.
This hotel does not respect the successful business model of the La Quinta brand. There are many hotel chains that are similar in price, especially if you add the $20 pet fee to the charge. There is no reason to stay here over any other hotel and I...
Read moreI wish I was writing a better review. Let’s start with the positives.. the location was wonderful with lots of food delivery options(highly recommend Red Pier Cajun Seafood and Bar), the rooms were spacious including 2 tvs a pull out sleeper couch, super comfy and fluffy king bed with lots of pillows, & a bright modern bathroom with a shower that had lovely water pressure. Oh, and the indoor pool my kids loved! Though it was a bit too chlorinated. Despite all of these positives, the cons were definitely strong. This started when we got up to our fourth floor and it smelled immediately different than the ground level and was overwhelmed by a super mildew smell. Then, when we got to our room I discovered evident mold(as pictured). This was a huge knock down bc mold is a major health concern, obviously and I paid for a nice room that I didn’t feel my family was unsafe in. Then, after being in our room for about 30 minutes we got a visit from the front desk saying the people below us were complaining about our noise. Mind you, this was FOUR o’clock in the AFTERNOON not late at night. And I had 2 small children that just got out of a long car ride & were excited to be in the hotel. My children were not jumping on furniture or acting ludicrous, simply just little feet running around checking everything out. It definitely didn’t warrant a visit in the middle of the afternoon. Then, we went to the pool to get some energy out for an hour. We were back for maybe 30 minutes again when we got a second knock(about 5:30 now) telling us this was our second warning & that if another complaint was made it would need to be reported to the manager. This turned our trip into walking on eggshells & forcing our toddlers to stay on the bed instead of playing together so that we didn’t worry having no place to sleep if we got kicked out for our children playing in the room at 5 o’clock in the afternoon. Absolutely awful customer service to cause us to feel threatened for this instead of reminding the other customers that this is a hotel with other guests and it is not an unreasonable hour. If you’re traveling with your family; rethink staying for this reason. It is not family friendly & your kids will need to be unreasonably...
Read moreI highly recommend staying here. I've stayed here a few times now, but this last trip had some issues that everybody I met here was more than willing to help with. To start, I made my reservation through booking.com, which was my first mistake. I needed to reschedule my trip by moving the dates back a few days, booking.com was of zero help, but the manager of this location Mrs.Melissa ( I think that was her name ) was INCREDIBLY helpful and friendly, and allowed me to cancel and reschedule and even dealt with booking.com to help resolve the issue on their end so I wouldn't lose out on the money I spent. Big shout out and thank you to her for everything she did. Then, when the day came of actually staying there, as soon as me and my daughter arrive, my car dies. The lady at the front desk got a manager to watch the front for her while she brought her vehicle around to try and jump start my car. She was helpful and very patient in trying to let it charge and giving it lots of attempts. In the end it had to get towed to a local shop. The next morning I called multiple taxi services I found on Google so I could get a ride to the mechanic shop and nobody would pick me up. I asked the lady at the front desk (not the same lady that helped me with my car) if she had any suggestions on local taxis so I could get to the mechanic shop. She pointed me towards the table by the front door with multiple taxi service cards and the first one I called was able to pick me up right way. Overall, between booking.com and the mechanical issue with the car there were several stress factors with this trip, but everybody at this hotel was incredibly helpful ad friendly and went out of their way to make things easy and to help fix situations they didn't even have a hand in creating. I highly recommend this hotel in will continue staying here when I pass through this area. Thank you to everyone who helped me and my daughter out, yall were awesome. Also, the continental breakfast in the a.m. is legit af, don't miss...
