In October 2024 , we enjoyed our stay in Rhode Island at the Margin’s Inn, on the Pawcatuck River near Downtown Westerly. The historic buildings and property were beautifully maintained and walking by the river in the morning to the Shipyard nearby was both relaxing and romantic as boats of all sizes floated by. Their ten guest rooms maintained the beautiful original woodwork and accentuated the architecture and views of the river. The common rooms were spacious and beautifully restored and decorated with comfortable furniture, as well as paintings and photographs by local artists. We had breakfast in the Perry house, which was built in 1849, originally in the Greek Revival style, and is the oldest surviving dwelling in the district to be constructed by a member of the Perry family. Upon Charles Perry Sr.’s death, Charles Jr. reworked the Greek Revival style in the Colonial and Classic Revival styles—first in the 1890’s and again in 1906. In 2016, the neighboring Larkin-Lewis-Perry house was purchased. Both properties have amazing woodwork and historic charm. We stayed in a lovely handicap accessible room in the Larkin-Lewis-Perry house with a door and ramp to the outside. Our beds were comfortable, and our room was well laid out. The owners Sarah and Chris Cooper were very hospitable and provided a hearty and delicious frittata breakfast for us in the morning. We felt welcomed and cared for by Chris and Sarah. Thanks,...
Read morePrepare your monocles and top hats because I've uncovered the Margin Street Inn—a posh paradise that practically oozes sophistication. In my relentless pursuit of the crème de la crème in Westerly, I stumbled upon this gem, and let me assure you, it's more refined than a butler's tea service.
Room Three is not just a room—it's a sanctum of extravagance. Immaculate? More like cleanliness that would make a germ cry. Spacious? It's practically a ballroom for one. The bed? So heavenly, even angels are jealous. The walk-in glass shower? I felt like I was bathing in the tears of lesser accommodations.
As you waltz into the driveway, the inn stands there, architectural bowtie perfectly aligned, saying, "Yes, I am where elegance comes to vacation." And the innkeepers? They're not just warm; they're basically your personal hug concierge, ensuring you're wrapped in luxury at all times.
Parking is smoother than a polished silver spoon, and finding the place is easier than convincing your butler to fetch your slippers. We graced this palace in December, but we're eagerly counting the days until our return when Westerly transforms into a playground for the posh.
The cherry on top? Being within walking distance of the charming town of Westerly. It's so close, you can practically stroll over in your silk robe and velvet slippers.
So, don your fanciest attire, cancel those mundane plans, and join the Margin Street Inn...
Read moreLet me start by saying my wife loves her a bed and breakfast. So I wanted to surprise her with a new and great experience. I researched for days and eventually I came across Margin Street Inn and was sold! Just by their website alone.
This place is so much more breathe taking and heart warming in person. From the across the street view of the Pawcatuck River, to the warmth of the in room fireplace. We even fell in love with the interior wallpaper the house was decorated with. Just a beautiful house! And let me not get started with the provided breakfast. You will not be disappointed. Don’t be like me, pace yourself. There’s plenty more!
We had an amazing one year wedding anniversary.
Sarah and Chris were a huge factor in that. They’re very attentive, detailed and genuine. They don’t mess around when it comes to comfort and hospitality! There was one instance where we needed assistance and Chris was at home. He got to us in 5 minutes. The man broke a hole through his pants with his foot in the process of getting ready and rushing to us. We saw the proof haha .. Sarah, who’s a Rhode Island native, made sure we had plans laid out for the day. If or when we didn’t, she gave us plenty of recommendations; of which we’re very happy we followed up on. Needless to say, we are very thankful for their care, for sharing their lovely home with us, and creating a new cherished memory. We look forward to...
