We usually love PVI and typically have an excellent experience. This year was not the case. I was treated very rudely and unprofessionally by hotel staff after spending thousands on staying for a week and adding an extra night. My family and I were treated like just a number not people. The issue came about when adding an extra night. I went to inquire on the first night of our stay about staying an additional night because the weather was rainy all week except for the day we were due to leave. The woman at the desk stated she needed my credit card which I did not have at the time. Then the night before leaving I got a call about my room change and somehow they managed to book the room without my card without telling me. Which granted I was happy because we got to enjoy a sunny day finally. Or I thought we would at least. I was called the next day around 10:40am and was told my room change was ready and to “take my time” however I went right away and was met with a nasty attitude by staff at the desk. Who I later found out was part of the cleaning crew. I said I would need time roughly an hour as I had little kids (21 months and 4.5) and they were at the beach with my husband so we would take shifts packing and watching the kids so they could enjoy their only nice beach day. The girl gave me such an attitude when I said it would take maybe a hour and she said I had to get out sooner because they had another “big” reservation checking in and they wanted to do early check in. Which basically told me she didn’t care about my or my family’s needs/wishes after spending thousands of dollars on the stay and restaurant. I also paid for early check in and was told I couldn’t check in until 2pm so they had plenty of time to clean the room if it did take a hour for us to move everything. To which I was told well they can check in earlier if they want to which is weird because I wasn’t given that option. So apparently this new incoming guest was way more important than my family and I. To top it off when I said I would start moving my stuff I went upstairs and heard the girl talking nasty about me on the radio to other staff and saw the other staff on her way to my room before I intercepted her. This is completely unprofessional behavior and it added stress and aggravation that no one needs on their vacation. To top it off when I got home my card was randomly charged an extra $1405. Which they said they would refund as it was a mistake on their end. Just overall disappointed with this experience and don’t know that I will go back again after this. Which is upsetting because next year we were planning to get multiple rooms with our cousins and their families but I wouldn’t want to go through this...

Location 5 stars for sure!
Staff at the front desk and the restaurant were very attentive and friendly. Note that their 4 pm check-in is strict, and they can’t store your bags if you’re there early. I saw people at the pool or by the beach with all of their luggage.
I’m glad I called ahead to check on beach chairs, they do NOT supply beach chairs, so bring your own if you want to be right on the beach. I took a train to the town, but was glad a lugged a beach chair with me. There are plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas overlooking the beach and by the pool. They do supply beach towels though.
I traveled all over the world, and never had a room where I couldn’t secure it from the inside. As a solo-traveling woman, this did make me uneasy to know that any staff member or someone with a key can get into my room at night since there was no lock on the inside. Some of my friends said the absolutely would not stay there knowing that. I have no idea why they don’t have any inside locks.
Rooms- my room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the pool. The shower was AA++. Great temperature and water pressure. My room never got cleaned though. The room attendant left a tip request card, but it never got cleaned. When I inquired upon checkout about that, they said I had to request room cleaning upon check-In. I think I should have been asked at check-in.
Restaurant- I ate a lunch there and a dinner at the bar. Food was very good. Note that they do NOT serve any breakfast. I saw many families in the morning dismayed when They got to the restaurant to find it closed. There are a few breakfast places to walk to, not super close- about 5 or 6 blocks away. They will put out a coffee and tea station in the lobby though. On Thursday night they host a music bingo which was fun for all ages. I even met a lot of locals that go there for the event.
My few tips about the area… I traveled by train, so didn’t have a car. I had to use Uber a few times (to go town, for the Westerly train station, etc..). The wait times were pretty long for Uber’s so I learned to schedule my Ubers a head of time. On Mondays and Weds evenings there is live music at Westerly Town Beach. Tunes on the Dunes. Definitely check it out. I enjoyed a day in the downturn area of Westerly. Nice book store/coffee shop- Martin’s books. Great Mexican food at Amigo’s. I had a lunch at Ocean House Verandah. Gorgeous venue!
As I said, I plan to return to the town and the hotel again. ...

The girls at the front desk took my reservation and advised it's a special day for my boys and wanted the ocean view ,no problem but when I was told later as the time was getting close I realized the girl put me in a reserved room ? Called and asked what is a reserved room ,she said oh you get partial view of the ocean ! What I have stayed with my sons before and never had a partial view and to boot never told me till all rooms were taken . They lied to me bc the did have ocean room available bc Expedia said they did but at this time two night minimum, labor day weekend ! They know I have been going for awhile with my boys not every year but after Sandy they redid alot of the room but thus room partial ocean view was rusty lamps couldn't see the ocean where the sun sets and rises . Small little balcony can't sit two people ,cramped . It was not a great experience and with the amount of money I paid over night over 500.00 Not worth it !! The cleaning room was outside next to my bed which the started cleaning and knocking things around that we could sleep then opened our door to see if we are leaving it 10:15 am next day what we don't need to check out till 11:00 which we did . The floor we so dirty so discussed and ferl the used us .not right when we have been regulars for years . They too the outside shower away and no gate to park in the lot anymore . Down where the shop is next to the alley dirt shoes and garbage in the alley way as you get to the bottom floor. People must live there but diry discusting cigarette butts . Shocked how it has gone down hill ! No breakfast either .really Sad it was our favorite place but staff ,management really treated me badly . As I checked in the girls were talking about me stating I was a bi... bc I wanted another room ,never happened . I heard the bc the coffee machine is right next to the girls but didn't see me getting coffee. No very professional and they bever told me about my two drinks I get ,the resturant told me . Waitress was great 👍 that's about it . Fire pit a joke you can't sit next to it bc it only allows four people to sit there so we could then the pool closed . Not a great time...
