This afternoon we found our travels took us to Westerly, RI. We had spent the previous day driving to East Providence to begin our search of the Trolls in Rhode Island, we saw 2 yesterday and then this morning we saw 2 more in Charleston at Ninigret Park. Lunch time in Westerly at Andrea Restaurant. We were welcomed with a big smile and hello. seated under canopy with a beautiful view of the beach and ocean. staff was very attentive and super friendly. My wife ordered Fish and chips, I opted for the baked scallops. while enjoying a drink we were taking in the great views over the water and beach. Food arrive and we both were taken back by the size of the portions, the fish and chips took all of the platter sized plate they were served on. My scallops were done to perfection (at least for me), not dried out and coated with a tasty breaded mix. the scallops were plentiful along with the seasoned green beans and mashed potatoes. EXCELLENT. My wife said just about the same for her dish, the fish breaded lightly and fish was juicy and very tasty. I noticed as the place began to fill, many patrons were greeted with hugs and big hellos, I thinking many of those are locals and repeat customers. nice vibe and good food along with super friendly staff makes Andrea's a must stop. two thumbs up.

I went twice while on vacation recently. The first day was great, my server was so friendly and the food was delicious. They pour a tasty drink and dont skimp on the booze, you get your monies worth! The outdoor seating is comfortable and the view is spectacular. The second day I went and the staff wasn't as friendly. The server I had the day before wasn't there. The food was awesome again. Really fresh and well cooked seafood! There was an incident with the umbrella on my table taking off like a kite since someone neglected to tighten it into the table, and it knocked my basically full drink over that left a bad taste in my mouth. They brought me another drink, but tried to charge me for it! I asked my server if I could speak with the manager when she told me it was against the restaurant policy to refund on alcohol. A few minutes later she came back and said the manager "didn't want to deal with me" and just took the umbrella disaster drink off the bill. Not sure what the attitudes were about since I wasn't the one that didn't tighten umbrella... but definitely tarnished the good experience I had there to that point. The food was good, so I would explore the take out window next time I'm in the area and maybe forego actually dining there after what happened 🤷‍♀️

This is a seaside restaurant that's only sbout 75 yards up the beach from the Pleasantview Inn. It's a stand alone building/kitchen with a large attached industrial white tent used for seating and dining purposes. The Atlantic Ocean and the sound of the surf is a beautiful backdrop to enjoy a very diverse menu. Everything, from seafood to steaks. Their salads are fresh and quite delicious as well. In the evenings they're usually playing some background music to mute the sounds of multiple tables laughing, talking and having a great time. The table service was very good, and our waiter did an awesome job taking care of our very large family froup of eighteen. The tent is set up so sections can be open or closed for comfort if needed. **Don't forget to ask for the do it yourself smores platter. You won't be disappointed, especially if you have children in your party. NOTE: I gave the food 4 stars because my scallop platter was COLD. I was with a very large group of family members who were going out, and I didn't want to hold everyone up waiting for my food to be warned up. I gave the restaurant 5 stars because it was well deserved.

My family has been coming to Westerly for over 25 years and at least the past 10 of those years, when all of cousins became of age, we have visited The Andrea on multiple occasions to have some drinks and dine. Yesterday, I was at The Andrea with my four cousins and when we were seated, we read about “The Bucket Club” and decided to partake. If we ordered 5 buckets of beer, we won a t-shirt. There were five of us so, we figured this was an awesome idea.

When we were seated by our hostess and greeted by our server, we were not informed about their supposed “2 hour limit” on table service. I will start there.

About 90 minutes into our dining experience, a couple sat next to us and were eavesdropping while they stared at us and gave us dirty looks while we dined and chatted. We decided to ignore it and enjoy our time together. A few minutes later, they asked to move tables and were denied that request by the server. Not even 5 minutes after that, the manager came over to our table and rudely told us that our “time was up” and that we “had been there for two and a half hours and they had a two hour time limit”. Remember, we were never told that or we would have respected that and dined accordingly. She had every table starring at us because she was so loud and rude so, we were kind of embarrassed.

My advice for the future; The manager should have a team meeting and get all of the “crew members” on the same page about their policies on seating. Patrons should be told before seating about the rules instead of rudely told to leave the establishment. It is very unprofessional to tell a table of five people who bought 5 buckets of beers, multiple appetizers and multiple main courses AS WELL AS multiple “to-go” orders to get up and leave when they hadn’t even finished their meals. We were truly shocked by this behavior and unprofessionalism at a place we have frequented for years and years.

The Andrea, after everything that has happened in the World with the Pandemic, should be overly thankful that people are choosing their place of business to support at these very difficult times. The disrespect we were shown by the manager gets them one star from me and my family. I am adding an extra star for our OUTSTANDING server who took care of us and clearly was uncomfortable with the situation.

I hope no one gets treated the way that we were. I hope The Andrea team does better...

My family and I have been to Westerly, RI on a number of occasions, but this time it was just my wife and I. We had been to a couple of other local restaurants, but we had never eaten at The Andrea.

It is still early in the season so there were not many people out and the outdoor tent was still up. There was no legitimate outdoor seating available, which the staff at the host stand was very apologetic about. Side note, we were greeted with smiling faces and what seemed to be incredibly happy employees. Not 2 minutes after being sat did our server come over to greet us to take our drink and appetizer order since we knew before going there what we were getting as an appetizer....the Lobster Bomb. The drinks came out very timely and the Lobster Bomb, which was absolutely amazing, came out no more than 5 minutes later. We had ordered our meal when our drinks came out, and the food was out in about 12 minutes.

I ordered the tuna steak medium with coleslaw as a substitution for the green beans (I hate green beans) with an additional seafood cake and my wife ordered the lobster roll. When the food came out, my order had green beans on it. I mentioned it to the food runner, and he right away apologized and brought it back to the kitchen. It would not have been a big deal if they just brought me out a side of coleslaw, but they re-plated the whole thing. The dish looked just as immaculate and pleasing to the eye as if it had originally been served like that. The food was amazing and every bite was something to be savored.

The only area I would suggest a minor improvement in would be the drinks. They came out really strong and for the most part, that was primarily what you tasted. Of course I still drank them, because why not?

It seemed like most of the front of house staff were younger, but not in any way did that take away from the attentiveness, professionalism, and great customer service they displayed. Unlike a pretty bad experience we had with a place up the road, The Andrea was the perfect place to drink and dine right on the beach.

Thank you to our server Rachel (sorry if that isn't how you spell your name) and the rest of The Andrea staff. We look forward to dining...

Really want to like this place but... perhaps they have gotten too comfortable with past success. The spot is gorgeous. We have been there several times and the staff has been pleasant enough, food has been decent enough but never been wow'ed but again, the spot is gorgeous and because of its location, it's busy. You have to take those things into consideration when you assess the quality of food and service. This last visit may be our last. It was too busy, we were seated right away with no wait. Placed appetizer order. Calamari was SO over cooked, like rubber. My 9 yr old who loves calamari couldn't even chew it. Garlic butter mussels were loaded with hot pepper which the menu made no mention of (FYI, my husband is allergic to hot pepper) luckily it was so visible he was able to avoid with no issue. I however, ate them. Taste was decent if you like spicy but they were so sandy I had to spit 4 or 5 of them out. Our main course took 45 minutes to come out. We sat near the kitchen and there was a steady flow of waitresses bring out food out regularly but our waitress had disappeared. We flagged down a different waitress who was friendly and apologized saying the "kitchen was a little backed up". Finally our waitress came back and said our meals should be out soon but seemed thoroughly annoyed to have to come see us. Our food came and it was COLD!?!? Fish and chips, fish was cold inside the batter. Shrimp tacos, shrimp not even cooked, still gray inside. Baked scrod, only thing warm was the fish inside it's own casserole dish. The mashed potatoes had sat on the plate long enough to have that film over the top of them? I do not mind waiting 45 minutes for food at a busy summer beach spot but if the kitchen is "backed up" then shouldn't my food come out hot?! Like, the food should be flying out the kitchen as soon as it's ready, no? Unless of course the waitress simply forgets all about you?? Sad, great spot but maybe is better suited to the drinking crowd who has less discerning...
