I booked last minute via phone for 2 nights Labor Day weekend. I’ll be reviewing 2 rooms, night 1 was 3rd floor street view. Night 2 was 2nd floor ocean front. I paid $780 and felt the value was poor. |I’ll start with the positives. Anna working reception is the best asset they have. She’s truly a rock star employee. Above and beyond, enthusiastic, personable and so eager to engage. |Parking appears to correspond to room number and it’s yours reserved. Perfect.|Beach chairs and umbrellas are available to use. Room number flags are given to stake claim on the beach for your stay. The hotel was full and it worked. The weather was 70s and overcast. Not sure what would happen on hot sunny days. |The beach in front of each property is roped off as private for each hotel. Public beach is adjacent to this hotel. There are several restaurants around. A beach bar is 2 lots over. The outside of this property is very pleasant. Older and beach wear and tear, but nothing unexpected. This was our 1st visit to the area and picked a town and this hotel randomly. By all observations the location and ocean access are great. A perfect set up really. |Now the bad. |In both rooms the building shook when people above or below walked. |In both rooms the AC was so loud you couldn’t hear the tv. |Room #10 had 2 Queen beds that weren't comfortable and no blankets.|Room #13 had a double bed and was so uncomfortable, my back still hurts.|Neither room had even minor comforts. No tissues, blow dryer, toiletries. No microwave. Disclosure, I spoke to the front desk and they have everything you’d need for free, just ask. |Room #10 had no parking spot, had to park across the street at the 2nd building.|Room #10 had no outlets. I suggested a lamp or clock with outlets bedside. |When moved to room #13 it had outlets everywhere. |The showers were small.|Sitting on the beach, I forgot the negatives. Lying in bed trying to watch tv was frustrating. I feel like a few minor improvements, some new mattresses, add some comforts and the price would be justified. Currently, 20 plus year old furnishings, dollar store faded chairs, 2 mini bars of soap and a roll of toilet paper don’t equal the cost. This hotel could really go places with those few adjustments. Keep Anna, a new mattress and bedding, a box of tissues, mount a blow dryer on the wall, add...
Read moreI'd like to publicly SHAME this despicable hotel. A group of us traveled on July 4 to the beach to be met with harassment and endless badgering. A woman came up to my peaceful group of friends, (who happen to be black) to inform us we had to move over a few inches because we were beyond the line that separated the private beach from public. Hey, I get it, there are private beaches (which I DO NOT agree with) but seeing that I am a law abiding citizen I subscribe to these city rules. My issue is not the fact that we were asked to move it was the assuming and underlying agenda and condescending nature of the request and statements made during the interaction. I'll list my issues; 1- She did not greet us nor announce her name/role 2- She did not ask whether we were staying at the hotel 3- She stated the guests were complaining... I saw NO ONE go into and out of the hotel 4- OTHER PEOPLE CAME FROM THE STREETS TO THE PRIVATE SECTION AND SHE DID NOT QUESTION THEM NOR ASK THEM TO MOVE (OH BTW - THEY WERE ALL NON BLACK PERSONS)
What a wonderful way to celebrate FREEDOM in the US while being reminded of the micro-aggressions certain white people have toward a group of young black PROFESSIONALS. DO BETTER or be shut down. I am sure I can find a few housing and zoning VIOLATIONS (Your unsanitary bathrooms where you charge people to use and do not report your earnings - your unsanitary food stand - no signage posted... I will not continue) but I will say to this small business, never treat peaceful people as peasants... because it is then you that...
Read moreFirstly, 2 weeks prior to stay I had a family emergency and needed to cancel. I expected a cancellation fee but they wanted to charge me the price of the room to cancel, which was ridiculous. We decided to come and make the best of it. I booked the room for my family of 6 (2 adults 4 children) I was told upon arrival it was only booked for 2 adults and only 4 people could stay. I came with my husband and 4 kids to enjoy a family trip and her suggestion was 2 people had to leave. That was frustrating but we figured ok, this sucks but let’s enjoy the day at the beach and then decide which one of us will take which kid back. Then we were told only registered guests are allowed on their beach. At this point we were beyond frustrated because the point of the family trip wasn’t to divide or family. It was not a very busy day and one adult and one 3 year old “extra” only on the beach, really shouldn’t have been an issue. At this point the kids were upset and confused, one crying and the staff was rude. The women just stood there with a smirk and said well did you read the rules.... I’m confident I booked for my family of 6 because I am a family of 6. Two of us were going to go home at the end of day. It was absolutely ridiculous we couldn’t use the beach after we paid. All and all...
