We rented one night since it was near an event we were attending. When I first walked in I was overwhelmed by the smell. At first it was musty/moldy, but then all you could smell were about 8 candle warmers. The lobby was decorated very pretty, but there were at least 8 candle warmers that I could see burning with some cheap nasty fall scent. Frankly that annoyed me off the bat because a lot of people including myself have fragrance sensitives.
I had to wait for about 10 minutes at the front desk for service, there were no bells or anything to call people. It was about 4pm in the afternoon so I wasnt sure why no one was manning the desk. As I looked around I noticed it was very clean, there were a lot of free snacks and drinks to grab. Later I found out why and it made our stay awful.
We checked in quickly once someone came to help us, and walked to our room. The smell on the 2nd floor was defiantly more musty, but that can happen right? Walking into our room it was so musty, so bad, that we both started looking for obvious water damage, but we found none. I also saw that our room was a adjoining room, I wanted to switch but the hotel was full, a WVU game was going on that weekend, that little fact made our room a living hell.
The people next door were so loud, from the time we hit our room all we heard was this woman talking and laughing. I even walked outside the room to see how far I could go and not hear her, the answer is 3/4 down the hallway. We heard all her cellphone calls with her friends and her mother, we could hear her mom on the other end of the phone! Thats how thin these walls were. Zero privacy. I tried to call the front desk about 3 times, they never picked up so I finally yelled at the noisy wall " I can hear everything you say!" This was at 1045pm, and I guess she finally got the message and shut up so we could finally get some sleep.
The next morning when I was remaking the beds I pulled back the top sheet on the comforter and wouldnt you know it I found the water damage in the form of mold all over that comforter and the one in the bed we did not use.
Pros: Its pretty much the only hotel in Weston and its right off the highway.
Cons: The water damage smell, the only gas station near it was so run down the "coolers" for drinks were at least 80 degrees, the hotel was packed with sports people being loud and rowdy, the mold on the bed, the lack of people at the front desk, and the candle warmers that never got blown out to cover the mold smell giving me a ripping headache the whole stay. The miniature parking lot that made getting in and out a nightmare cause everyone was driving large trucks.
Would I stay here again? No, I will find another hotel down the road in Clarksburg. Weston has almost no food, gas stations or anything else, its better to stay 15 minutes down the road...
Read moreWe booked this hotel because we had an overnight ghost hunt at Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum for my birthday. There was several people on our floor. The walls are so thin we could hear everything going on in the halls & other rooms. Friday night Nov 1st there was people running up & down the hallway. We had food delivered and doordash actually apologized because the people in the hotel wouldn't move so he could deliver food. We had to turn the TV up to drown out the noise. The staff was very inconsiderate while they we're working in other parts of the hotel. I don't know who thinks putting the smoking areas at the front door was a good idea. Us non smoking people have to walk through that mess. Then riding in a elevator with staff who smoked. I literally wanted to vomit from the smell.
Saturday night was our ghost hunt. Coming back in afterwards was ok till you made it to floor 3. Why on earth put a bunch of loud college people on the floor with ghost hunting people? We specified for the discount ghost hunting. Trying to sleep at 5-6am after coming in with loud disrespectful people yelling down the hall.
The room was clean, the bed hard as a rock, and they only had a shower, no tub. Which wasn't stated!! We had reservations till Monday at 11am. Sunday night after we returned from getting dinner it was the same loud people going on. I couldn't deal with it anymore because it was causing a migraine. We packed up and left!
I don't recommend this hotel to anyone Trying to actually sleep. The shower head had 2 settings one of which didn't even work. The room was hot and even after adjusting the temp it still didn't really cool down. It was a waste to try to sleep to drive home. My advice especially if your doing overnight haunts- DON'T SLEEP HERE. Because you...
Read moreOverall, my stay was very disappointing.
Pros: hotel seemed clean, furniture, bed, etc. was in good shape, staff very friendly, great location just off the interstate and restaurants nearby.
Cons: Was told there would be a cold bottle of water in the fridge in my room---no water. Three lights burned out in my room (one in the bathroom, one bulb burned out in entrance way light, one next to the bed) which made this THE darkest hotel room I ever stayed in. I asked for bulb for the light next to the bed and was given the wrong type--I didn't bother asking for another one. All hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the hotel did not work (must have had dead batteries or clogged). NO ONE at the front desk wore masks--ever. Handle missing from shower door. Tried to call the front desk several times and got no answer. Breakfast was THE WORST I've ever had in any hotel. No eggs either day that I was there. The first day there was sausage patties and biscuits and gravy. The 2nd day, biscuits and gravy only-that was it for hot food. "Fresh" fruit was pretty rough looking. Other food was available--yogurt, cereal, small selection of pre-wrapped pastries, milk, juice. Most guests I observed as I sat and ate my cereal walked in, looked around, got a coffee and walked out without any food. Finally--I was there conducting a pool operator certification class so I tested the pool. pH 7.0 (should be 7.4-7.6), hardness 110 (should be 200-400), chlorine ok, but pool cloudy, alkalinity ok. My students said they saw a guy throwing some chemicals into the pool (I tested it after that), so I suspect there had been no chlorine in the pool prior to the guy adding it--which is probably why it was cloudy. The pool was closed (rightfully so) for part of the time...
