Key West Inn - Wetumpka — Hotel in Wetumpka

As a part of profession, I spend around 300 nights a year on the road.||So, I consider myself to an expert of hotels. My experience with Key West Wetumpka: ||||I called for pricing, and I was told $55/night. That was 5 days ago (11 December 2021).||Tonight (16 December 2021) I showed up to check-in. A young man, approximately 18 said the rates were $75/night. To add insult to injury: he never stood up and acknowledged me. He stayed seated and looked at me as if I had interrupted his texting session or video game. ||||When I inquired about a military discount, he responded in very snide manner. "We don't have a discount rate. Anything else?" It was not just what he said but the manner in which he said it. ||||As a veteran, and a man, I was insulted this kid had such poor home training.||I have grandkids his age. ||Customer Service is a thing of the past. And children having respect for grownups have gone the way of the dinosaur.||||His being there is a direct reflection on the management of Key West Inn Wetumpka, Alabama. I should have read all of the reviews before staying here!!!! My husband and I stayed here on 3/25/22. Upon checking in the attendant was not friendly at all. When we entered our room I found trash underneath the sink, the microwave was greasy, coffee stains on the mirror and hair inside the cabinet. I alerted front desk and he said that it wasn’t another room to move us and that I would receive a discount the next morning when we checked out. I went to the front office to check out and THE OWNER tells me that THEY do not give discounts. I showed him that me pictures of the room. He proceeds to tell me that people don’t want to work these days and that his 83 year old mother cleaned the room, but because she’s old she couldn’t clean good. Well sir why don’t you and your wife clean the rooms? I will NEVER EVER...

At quick glance, it's a charming looking motel. With similarities with Key West.

Plus: People operating seem friendly enough. Spacious room, large bathroom, clean, no odors.

Minus: AC unit noisy- it made noises coming on and going off like dishes in your dishwasher moving around when the water comes on. Turning on the water in the shower took some figuring, have never seen anything like that before. It was just little things touch up of paint here and there, towel rack had a coming apart, there was some paint flaking off the ceiling in the bathroom. But the location was good, area was quiet, no loud noises from the street.

Overall a pleasant stay. I'm just not used to the high prices and this was one of the lowest in the areas, so overall 8 out...
