**I had to come back to edit this review, because of our next two experiences. The people are very nice, and the service is excellent. The atmosphere could use some work. Dimmers on the lights to give a better ambiance would help. My biggest concern is the food. The second time we ate here, one member of our party and I and both had stomach aches after we ate, and I had some - let's just call it "gastrointestinal disturbance". The third time we ate here, a family member had pretty significant stomach pain and very significant "gastrointestinal disturbance". They didn't want to think it was the food, so after their digestive tract settled down, they ate their leftovers the next day, and the same thing happened again. We don't know what's going on with the food and whether or not this has anything to do with the Yum Yum sauce not being refrigerated but sitting out on the tables all day, but we have not had a good experience with the food and won't be going back.
Recently, my wife and I ate at Yamato for the first time. We had no expectations and had only looked at the menu on line to see what they served. I am a very picky eater and knew in advance what I wanted to eat-steak fried rice with no vegetables. We entered and were seated immediately. The waitress was very helpful with the menu items as she answered all of our questions about this and that. I ordered the steak well-done and the rice without vegetables. Our food came in a very short while and it was great! The steak portion was very generous and the rice was also to my liking without anything unidentifiable in it. I told you I was a picky eater. The steak had a great flavor and I almost hated to use the yum-yum sauce on it, but I dipped the steak in the sauce as I ate and was treated to a culinary delight. Yamato is now my favorite restaurant in the city of Wetumpka! The service is great, the atmosphere is relaxing with gentle instrumental music being played in the background and the food was great. I'm getting hungry just writing this review. Go to Yamato. You won't be...
Read moreSo "Yamato" in Japanese, literally translates to "Great Harmony". That is a perfect descriptor for this small jewel of a restaurant that has opened in an old Chinese restaurant that was in Wetumpka for years and years. My hubby treated me to lunch/dinner, dinch(?) (Call it what you will). I however call it delicious. We almost did a tasting menu, minus dessert (we were to full to fit anything else in!). We both had the Hibachi Filet Migon (it came with a simple salad with ginger dressing, and a onion soup (dine-in only). The salad was fresh and crispy. Not all that different from other local spots in the tri-county area. The broth was yummy though. Hubby also ordered a side if chicken with teriyaki sauce. For my appetizer (I use this term loosely) I got the sushi roll deal (2 for $9.95) each roll was 6 pieces. I went with the Eel Avocado roll and the Spicy Crawfish roll! Delicious!! The service was spot on! We will definitely be back. The house was packed when we arrived but it didn't take long to be seated. The manager/owner(?) was very kind and even treated us to sample their egg rolls served with a sweet chili sauce for dipping. My only complaint, they may need more tables, lol. Because this...

Waitress took 3 orders with no pen and paper and brought everything to the right person the 1st try. Onion soup was amazing. Had fried oysters, egg rolls, and crab rangoon for apitizers came quick and was all great. Just as we were finishing apitizers the main course came out. Steak shrimp and rice, chicken shrimp rice, and fire on the bayou (which is spicy crawfish wraped in rice and deep fried in cream cheese) the fire on the bayou came with ginger and wasbi and was blissfully good. The other 2 meals came with mixed veggies and there own sauces. Waitress was on the spot with everything. We payed 80 dollars for the whole check and i left a 15 dollar tip. Place was clean and tables werent sticky we went about 630 7pm wasnt crazy busy. I will deff brag about it and...
