MACIE H. HAS A HORRIBLE ATTITUDE AND SHOULD NOT BE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! When you walk into an establishment your first impression is often the person who takes your order. As someone who rarely ever eats out, I am often oblivious to certain things that might seem commonplace to those who dine in regularly. To preface, when I was placing my order there were no other customers waiting in line behind me (just giving context to the story).
As I was placing my order MACIE H. was very abrupt, impatient and I felt she was rushing me along through my whole order. She was extremely rude and snappy with me. When I asked her what sauces they have, in her sour attitude she said “Tarter and cocktail”. I kindly asked for my sauce to be on the side, where she responds with, “We already make it on the side.” I can think of many other alternate ways she could have affirmed my order, but she chose to speak to me in a condescending way by pointing out the “obvious” that I had no idea about, cause yet again, I don’t ever eat out, and had never eaten at the Wharf prior to this.
I had also brought my 5 year old daughter with me and began placing HER order. When I was asked what drink to order for my daughter, I asked MACIE H. “What drinks do you guys have for kids?” Her response was a snappy hand gesture, motioning to the soft drinks on her lefthand side and says, “And ice tea.” Where she then says, yet again with a sour attitude, “That’s it, that’s what we have.” So then I ask, “Oh, you guys don’t have milk for kids, or…?” MACIE H: “Nope, no milk. That’s all our drinks.” *And she does the hand gesture again to the fountain drinks. When I had finished paying and was answering the prompt on the screen regarding a tip, I quickly pressed “NO TIP,” because obvious reasons. I mean, why would I tip someone who isn’t even doing the bare minimum of being nice or respectful? She was watching this and after seeing me press “NO TIP” on the screen, she says, “There’s an option to tip, but don’t feel obligated to.” (Also said with attitude.)
For our drinks I had ordered a total of 3 waters and 1 ice tea. I had forgot to specify no ice in two of the waters during my order, so as she was filling the first of the 3 water orders I say, “Oh, sorry I forgot to say, but I wanted 2 of the waters with no ice.” At this point, she had already filled the first cup with ice, in which she aggressively threw the ice out of the cup with annoyance at my request (even though I made it clear that 1 water could have ice, hence why I specified 2 waters to have no ice)…
All this to say, it is people like MACIE H. who spoil the dining experience. I don’t care what type of day you’re having, being in customer service means to be hospitable, welcoming and friendly, ESPECIALLY when the customer is being nothing but kind and respectful (speaking from my own experience working retail and food service)… There was absolutely no reason for her to give the attitude she had with me or to treat me the way she did, just unacceptable.
It’s a shame, because the food was actually really good quality, but if this is the type of service that you get, I’d rather eat somewhere else. On the other hand, there was one server who gave SUPREME service (I didn’t get his name), but he’s the one with glasses 10/10 for him and his professionalism. He’s gonna go far in life for sure! (Can’t say the same...
Read moreThe only good thing was Anna at the ordering station. She was wonderful. The bald guy that brought our food had a horrible attitude at go. I thought maybe it was me over reading what he did and he could have been having a bad day, but afterwards several people at the table pointed it out to me. I didn't want to make problems. They never even came back to check if we needed anything, or "how's the food?" You've got to work a table if you're expecting tips. I believe they already knew the food wasn't good. The food was extremely salty and with a party of nine with everyone having problems with the food it couldn't have been just me. We didn't complain. The food seemed like fried frozen food that was fried way before we ordered.. the french fries and hush puppies were old and full of soaked up oil. My fish was two finger size salty lumps. I couldn't eat the red beans and rice, way too much salt and you couldn't wipe that off with the paper towels (napkins) on the table. The "seafood cake" salty mush. It looked good, but wasn't cooked right, or old. Everyone at the table (9) had complaints about something, especially those "cakes" I would have sent my order back, but was too embarrassed and didn't want problems with that guy. I don't like leaving bad reviews for local businesses because you never know what was going on and I love supporting our local businesses. This was my first visit with my family having a small birthday party. Blackened fish is how you cook it, not just the salt and spices you cover it with. The tea was good, but no refills and served in plastic cups. The shrimp was good, but extremely salty. Our meal for my mother and I was over $50.. learned my lesson about tips before service. I wouldn't have left one. I was the youngest of the group and I'm 58... My mother is 80 and I could go on and on about her order. I looked for reviews online before we went and everything was excellent. I believe something must have been wrong with the staff (understaffed) the place was packed when we showed up, but cleared out before we ordered and got a table. You can look at my profile, I don't usually leave bad reviews. Google asked me for a review in a...
Read moreI recently took a family member and a friend to the Wharf here in Wetumpka. We ordered 2 Grouper and 1 Catfish meal. The customer service was good and we received our food quickly. As the waitress placed the Grouper down in front of us it had a very STRONG fishy smell. We both tried a piece of the Grouper and it was awful. Not bad, AWFUL. I have eaten a lot of Grouper and I have even eaten Grouper here at the Wetumpka Wharf and never has any tasted this fishy. I did something I RARELY do. I told the wait staff that the Grouper was very fishy and did not taste good. (It tasted OFF). The wait staff said, That is interesting, you are not the first person to say that today. He then said he would get a manager to our table. It took a while for the manager to arrive, when he did asked what was wrong. I explained the Grouper smelled bad and tasted Awful. I offered him to smell the dish and he recoiled back and said he was not going to smell that. He then proceeded to tell us this was wild caught Grouper that is served fresh and not soaked in salt or buttermilk. He then told us it was the strongest flavored fish they serve. As I have said we have eaten Grouper before and wild caught or not it should not taste BAD. He acted as if he was trying to convince us to go ahead and eat it. I explained this was bad fish and we could not eat it. Then he asked what else we would like in place of the Grouper. We ordered the fried catfish which was very good. I was disappointed for several reasons but the thing that prompted me to write a review was the way the Manager treated us. Grouper is NOT a strong fish. It is akin to Halibut which I have caught and eaten wild... He was very condescending and we felt chastised for saying anything. I do not know why the Grouper smelled super fishy but I can tell you from experience food poisoning is not fun and I do not want to ever experience it again in my life. So, if the mild mellow sweet fish does not come across that way the manager should be glad I bring it to his attention and should fix it and...
