The classic "Bait and Switch!" We stayed there with my family on June 12, 2021 and reserved the 2 level (2 king) suite. Upon our arrival, I used the restroom near the lobby and should have gone with my gut instinct when I seen the hallway carpet was soiled and stained. I checked in and received my room key. I was told the pool was not open as they just painted it the day prior and it did not have any water yet (fine, COVID or what ever). Upon bringing our luggage into the hotel, the outside trash was overflowing and was accumulating trash all around the can. I was suprised when I opened my room and realized it was not the 2 level suite the site/app advertised. I went back to the front desk and explained I had been given the wrong room. The lady working the front desk (although polite) explained they don't have anything that nice at that hotel, she went on to say the 2nd level was the sofa bed. She further explained the other double king rooms were sold out and all that was left (with 2 beds) was full beds. The stairs leading to the 2nd floor had what looked like (and smelled like) vomit stained carpeting.
The carpet in our "Suite" was in such desperate need of re-stretching, it actually created a tripping hazzard in our room. By the time we tried to go to bed, on the A/C in our room quit working. I walked down to the lobby and explained our AC was not working, I was given the little fan that was used by the front desk staff. As I walked down to the lobby, I noticed the hallway carpet was in need of a good cleaning/replacement. The used plunger in the hallway outside one of the other rooms was the icing on the cake. I'm not sure what the room temperature was while we tried to sleep but the room was so warm that it made it difficult to sleep even with the little fan they provided us.
The hotel breakfast was a joke, we got there at about 8 a.m. and the hot breakfast items were already gone. The guy working the front desk when we checked out didn't even ask how my stay was... I guess he heard enough from other guests already he knew not to ask.
The exterior of the hotel and the lobby look nice, its apparent they didn't spend any money anywhere else in the hotel.
I tried to leave a review on the Choice hotels website on this hotel... no luck! (I will keep trying so that I can warn others). I have stayed at god only knows how many other Quailty Inn/ Choice hotels in the past and never experienced anything remotely close to this!!! I looked into staying at another hotel in the Wichita Falls area but any that were of a reputable brand were booked full.
I would expect this kind of service/quality at some cheap no-name hotel but NOT a...
Read moreFirst, let me state that I realize that a budget type hotel isn’t going to provide the nicest accommodations, I get that; however, we stayed here during the Hotter n’ Hell Hundred, so we had to pay a premium for a room that bordered on unacceptable. Upon entering the hotel, I used the staircase to get to the 2nd floor, the stairs were dirty and looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in a while, but I figured with all the bikes coming and going that the dirtiness was just high-volume traffic with dirt coming from the wheels on bikes. The hallway appeared to have relatively new carpet and was clean, so that was good. I got to my room and opened the door and the room smelled musty and old, but the room was very cool as the air conditioning was great. I had to use the bathroom, so I lifted the seat and there was left over urine on the rim of the toilet, obviously it had not been cleaned before I arrived. Also, there was pretty severe water damage around the bottom of the wall in the bathroom as well, I suspect that was the cause for some of the musty smell in the room. The beds were generally not well made, covers halfway tucked in and half not etc. Okay, I’m being a little picky, but the stay for this night was over $250 and I would expect a little better housekeeping for that price. Some other things that were annoying. There appeared to be blood splattered on the ceiling and the wall. The coffee pot had a used coffee pod still in it and was dusty, obviously not cleaned The windowsill had water damage Water did not drain in the bathtub, so there was four inches of water in the tub after taking a shower There was a sticker on the mirror stating that the room was sanitized after each guest, obviously that was not the case considered the toilet wasn’t clean and the coffee pot was dusty and had a used pod still in it. All was not bad, as mentioned, the AC worked great, also, the bed was comfortable, the water pressure was great, the location was great, and the staff were generally helpful and friendly. With all things considered, and the primary reason for a hotel is the room itself, I don’t believe we will be staying here in the future and will likely try to book a better place...
Read moreWish I could change this to zero stars from the illiterate and immature “response” from the owner. This Quality Inn unfortunately does not strive to take themselves seriously professionally.
YOU MAY BE FINED AVOID LOCATION
Normally don’t have any issues with Quality Inn but unfortunately ended up with a very bad experience and I hope this will help somebody avoid a situation like this.
Stay itself was decent when checking into our room it felt like the AC had not been on in a long time so the room was very musty and gross smelling. Just a short stay overnight but missed breakfast as the posted time in the booklet ends it at 10am when it really ends at 9am but no big deal.
After we checked out and continued on our way we were surprised to be hit with a $250 fine from the location in our account with zero explanation or contact from QI. Upon calling the front desk about it we are informed we have been fined a “weed smoking charge”.
We absolutely were not smoking weed or cigarettes or anything like that in our room we checked in late past midnight then left the next morning.
Upon calling back multiple times I spoke to the GM who I was hoping of course would cancel the charge as a mistake must have been made but unfortunately was no help. The front desk originally told us there was “photo evidence” which we would have loved to see but upon speaking to the GM she said she’d have to “check on that” and our room “smelled like it” so that’s why we were fined.
As college students a $250 fine for no reason is not an easy expense and we will absolutely be disputing the charge through our bank.
Upon doing research it seems to be a trend in the hotel industry to be able to issue these fines after the fact with very little help in explanation or “evidence” and I encourage everyone to watch out for hotels like this with shady business practices.
“It’s our policy” is absolutely no excuse for charging a paying customer for something that simply...
