This hotel is a bit of a mixed bag. It is an older property that looks like it has been renovated to some extent. The good: The rooms were clean, and the shower nice and hot. The staff were all very friendly. There was plenty of parking. The OK: The location is a few min drive south of Winthrop. It's a short ride, but not really an easy or pleasant walk to/from town. The bed was ok, but pretty soft and probably due for replacement. The walls are fairly thin, so it is not whisper quiet and you kind of hear whats going on in the rooms around you. The bad: Breakfast. I read reviews that said the breakfast was good (I was looking forward to it!), however ours was terrible. Our choices were waffles, cottage cheese, some mystery yogurt-like substance, and cereal. There was a very small platter for eggs and sausage, however each time we went over it was empty. The breakfast area was very small and crowded, and there were people sitting all over outside. The coffee was good, however. This was a Sunday morning, and I suspect they were overwhelmed. After a half hour, we gave up and went into town to eat breakfast. Consider adding additional hot plates to have more food available, at least on the weekends.

Our family enjoyed our stay at the Abby Creek Inn. The management was friendly to work with on our reservation, which required a reschedule due to the forest fire last summer. They worked with us and found a new date for our stay that worked for all! When we arrived at Abby Creek, we were pleasantly surprised by the upkeep of the property. Everything there was super clean and in working order. The pool was clean, sauna and hot tub in working order, grills cleaned and ready to go, bikes, corn hole ready to use, laundry machines in working order. I don't know when I last visited a property where everything worked. Usually SOMETHING is broken but here everything was perfect! We ate breakfast, which was a generous buffet of eggs, sausage, waffles, and other foods. The property is near the river so we enjoyed walks, saw some deer. A grocery store is within waking distance and gas station as well. Very convenient! The town of Winthrop is a 5 min drive away (if that) and town of Twisp also a short drive. We enjoyed some meals and a farmers market there. Thank you for such a wonderful stay. We will come back.

Do NOT use their tubing facility if you are a beginner

My family made an unplanned stopover at Winthrop and found this hotel on Google. We were only looking for a place to sleep at night and they had availability and were reasonably priced, so we decided to stay here. The rooms were unremarkable. They were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was nothing to write home about and we ended up eating elsewhere.

We should have returned home as we had planned and this would have been another hotel we stayed at but we made the mistake of using their tubing facility. We have never gone tubing before and when we saw it prominently advertised, both outside and inside, we wanted to give it a try. The owner/manager took us tubing and I have never had a more unprofessional experience. She took us and another family in her van, dropped us off with some tubes and told us where to get off. We told her that we had never tubed before and brushed it off saying it was easy. Her answers to our questions were vague and instructions non-existent. This should have been a huge red flag, but we were too excited and were foolish enough to ignore. As soon as we started tubing, we quickly realized that it wasn't as easy as she made it seem. The current was very strong in places and using our hands to paddle wasn't easy at all. My nine year old son was not able to even reach the water. I held on to his tube the whole time. When it was time to get off, it was near impossible for us to get close enough to the shore and other than yelling at us to get off, the owner did nothing to help. She did not have even a life saver to throw to us. She just stood on the shore waving her arms and yelling. When we did manage to get off the tube, we could not find our footing because of the slippery rocks and strong currents and were swept downstream. A good Samaritan pulled us out. If he hadn't been there at the right time, I shudder to think of what would have happened. When we finally managed to get ashore and catch our breath, the owner came over after sometime and other than complaining that her shoes got wet had nothing else to say.

I cannot believe that someone so incompetent and irresponsible runs an activity that can endanger lives. She had no backup plan in case things don't go exactly right. She was so unprepared, it boggles the mind. I would never recommend this place for...

We stayed at this hotel with two kids for a team event. We had hoped it would be a fun weekend. It rapidly became a frustrating experience as a result of this facility. We got there at night. The keys were taped to the door for us. We were able to get into our room easily. The sidewalks were shoveled and mostly clean. Which I was pleased with since it was very icey. The parking lot was a mess. But this was expected. When we got to our room it was pretty clean and there was an extra blanket for warmth. That was about the best of it. The bathroom was a nightmare! The door would not close unless we faught to lift it up. The toilet would not flush with anything in it. In the morning we expressed this concern to the staff. They tried to plunge it. It didn't work. The toilet was a massive issue our entire trip! At one point it over flowed twice, soaking the clothes needed for the next day. Again the staff was made aware. I requested the laundry room they advertised to wash the toilet water soaked clothes. They informed me the drier was broken but I could try it. Mind you I had to pay for this...even though it was broken. They sent me with a toilet plunger. Never was a new room or discount offered to us. They blew us off. It was very frustrating. Especially since the last place we stayed was $100 less a night for much better service. (We were with a team or would have left.) On top of all that we were over charged by $137. But they couldn't give us a refund for a couple days because the manager was gone. We were told they would contact us about this... Never happened. The front desk lady was also incredibling rude and snapped at the kids. Making comments about the waffle maker and accidental messes. All in all this was a nightmare. I will never...

This is the 4th time that I have stayed there ( Hockey tournaments). It is an older place, but decently kept up. The main desk has simple western antique motif. Rooms are somewhat small and obviously older, but beds were comfortable and room was clean. Several items set this place apart from other:

  1. the ppl there are quite nice. I have seen the same manager and desk ppl. They help you with a smile. The maids have changed, but this time, the maid that we had was absolutely friendly, and offered to clean room each day (no reason to since kids and too messy). Good ppl make a huge difference.
  2. They have Level 2 charging for EVs. If you own an EV and are staying at Winthrop, this is the place to be. They have 2 spots.
  3. things for the kids to do. Seriously. They did not have the pool open, but hottub and sauna were (good for older kids and parents). They had tubes that in summer time is used for lazy river, but in winter, is used for sledding behind the hotel. The kids had a blast out there, instead of running all over the place. They also have deer that come up there and they allowed the kids in the AM to feed them (put some cracked corn in a cup and then put on snow/ground where deer will it if you back up; no petting ).

Several suggestions: Breakfast is the same from nearly 3 years ago. Add a bit of variety by adding pecans for the waffles; likewise, next to the eggs, consider adding cut up onions, pepper, cheese, perhaps bacon bits, so that ppl can throw them in/on the scrambled eggs and get a bit of variety; kudos for the idea of tater tots with AM gravy; more or less hash...
